The General Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Here is your chance Mr Gall................
Guest Monty Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Absolute bargain. Lets get this course filled and lets see some new blood.
ian beale Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 This is where you'll see all the cr*p excuses from the ones who are all bark...
Guest Monty Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Its going to be a difficult choice in giving up playing but the challenge will be well worth it if you are indeed passionate about the game. I hope you are wrong ian beale for the sake of our game. ???
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Well done C.C.F.A., who said that they never read the forum or listen to the grassroots? I hope that you're wrong Ian, considering the number of folk who said that they'd jump at the chance if the costs were lower, but I fear that you might be correct! £40-00 for course and kit is a steal. Go for it guys, you were clamouring for it last week, and thank-you Soccer Follower for the early Christmas present for the wannabes and the junior leagues. Do let us know how soon the course fills up.
Anita Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 £40 for a kit is a good deal..... I paid that just for a set of flags
stevieb Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 now then guys a chance to have a go great effort from the ccfa we all give them enough stick on the forum so this maybe the chance for some up and coming refs to help fill the gap at local level
B Manning Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 As posted, now is the time to step up and put all that shouting about a shortage of referee into action, I look forward to seeing all the names of the new referee`s. But I am not going to hold my breath.
ian beale Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Cb_fc, shock that you're keeping quiet usually you're on here all the time before i get that excuse. #youvebeenbealed
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 It's all gone quiet! Where are all these budding Referees who were saying only a week ago how they'd love to give it a go, if only it wasn't so expensive. So now (and I didn't expect to find myself saying this) thanks to the awareness and efforts of the C.C.F.A. you have your chance. You know who you are (if not, check out the relevant threads, plenty of posts there) Go for it! Your League Needs You!
ian beale Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 So it looks like i was right. So everyone having a go is now eating there own words. Never mess with a beale
Cornish-Ref Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Let's be honest - what is said on this forum is the same you hear on Saturday afternoons...... :-)
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 18, 2013 Report Posted October 18, 2013 Still time to get your application in, give C.C.F.A. a ring on 01208 269010, or check out the website. Your chance to get your foot on the bottom rung, who knows, you could have a talent. Old Trafford, Wembley or Rio, only a few hundred whistle blows away!
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Gosh, when I saw it back on the top of the pile I thought we'd got a whole volunteer. Ho hum not to be! Thanks for punting it up the list Skyblueref. Has anyone heard of anybody who is up for this fantastic offer? Getting paid to be abused, can't be all bad!
peggy78 Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 I copied and pasted it to my facebook and had one response. A lot of readers of this forum are actively involved on a Saturday already so would be good if people could spread the message away from here.
get in Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 am very interested in doing this could but not sure how to apply
Roy Keane is GOD!!! Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Here is your chance Mr Gall................Sure is Mr Stevens
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 am very interested in doing this could but not sure how to apply Ring the above number, 01208 269010 (C.C.F.A.), ask for Grace, tell her you want to sign up for the cut-price referees course. If she can't sort it out, she'll know a man who can. Well done you for putting your name forward. Let us know how it goes and how many turn up.
skyblueref Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 NO ONE HAS BOOKED YET AND ONLY 3 ENQUIRIES. When there are no refs for junior football in 5 years time you've only got yourselves to blame.
Guest Monty Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I believe certain persons have all the clout but no balls to take up the challenge. Really disappointing especially has us referees are getting more and more grief, but then again that's probably putting a lot of people off with which I cannot blame them.

gaffer Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Maybe clubs should have to provide a person to take the coarse, i know its not helping the shortage, and will still create a talking point, but may help!!
Kash Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I know of an ageing player who was considering this course but due to it being in bodmin and him living down west it would be a long journey and he works saturday mornings so has been put off! Its a shame its not central to the trelawny league obviously not gona suit everyone but I do hope it can help the shortage!
Guest Monty Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I was on the understanding that you registered your interest with the ccfa at bodmin and then hopefully they will be able to run courses in west, central and east.
skyblueref Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Courses are held throughout the county and I'm certain if enough registered interest they'd hold one in the west. In recent years they've been held in PZ, Hayle and Wendron.
Kash Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Ok, I wasnt aware of this, will pass on the info, thanks
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 At long last, some expressions of interest, I hope that they translate into bums on seats at the course(s). It's only a temporary stopgap though, it can't be long 'till we see Robo-reff hovering over the pitch with a whistle and a hum!
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I'm not surprised at the lack of take up, 90% of players today are all gobsh*tes with no balls. Plenty to say when there's no repercussions to face.
Guest Monty Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 It would be good if players just tried and play football but I think robo ref might come in sooner? ??
Farley Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Problem is, everyone on here already has a role in football and is already affiliated with a club or a ref already. It's unlikely that too many will stop playing or coaching to become a ref.
Guest Monty Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Well then don't moan then??? There are a lot more people on this website that dont do nothing for football anymore.
Farley Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Dont recall moaning about it. It's a shame that even when the FA offer it as practically free no-one takes them up on the offer. I think the FA and league committees need to address the issues of why no one wants to be a ref, rather than just throw money at trying to get more refs.
Bruegel the Elder Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Shhhhhhhhh! Never stop the C.C.F.A. when they're in a generous mood! We need both Respect and training hand in hand.
willser08 Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 well done ccfa for doing this! I was one of the people complaining about ref's a few weeks ago and I really want to do the course, the only query I have before I book it is does anybody know if they would do the assessment games on a Sunday? as a current player I'm not too sure my club would be too thrilled about me missing 7 games for this. This not an excuse to not do the course, it's just asking if anybody is aware about the possibility of Sunday assessments.
willser08 Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Also, the fact the course is in Bodmin would not prevent me from travelling from Hayle, we all use this forum, let's use it positively and car share so that the expense is reduced!!
Guest Monty Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Willser. They will no doubt do the assessments on Sunday, always done it in the passed subject to availability? ??
willser08 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks Monty, I'll get my place booked on it, hopefully some other players past and present will follow suit
skyblueref Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 The Trelawny league has now decided to sponsor a limited amount of places [1st 10] so basically making it free with kit and equipment. Absolutely no excuse now for any aspiring ref not to give it a go. The question is, how long do I hold my breath.

Roy Keane is GOD!!! Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 Is the course at Bodmin?
willser08 Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Unfortunately I have been unable to secure the sat morning off work, am absolutely gutted as it's something I wanted to do and had contacted Ray and spoke about the chance to get assessed on sundays. Apologies to the ccfa sas they've really come through with this, just need some people to do the same now
le boss Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Where do you stand with the HMRC re all that money that referees earn form their fees and expenses?
Barry H Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Bash, you reffed one our games last year against St Buryan when the ref didn't show and did a great job, have you thought about giving the whistle ago?
TheolderIgetthebetterIwas Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Where do you stand with the HMRC re all that money that referees earn form their fees and expenses? Same as everyone else - don't tell them!!! They'll come knocking soon enough.
