midlandlilywhite
I attended the Wolves v Swindon League 1 match today. In the 2nd minute of stoppage time the referee pulled up with a hamstring injury and had to leave the pitch. He is as per rules is replaced by the most senior linesman/assistant referee, which in this case was Amy Fearn. She referred the match for the last two minutes. Is she the first female to referee a League match ? I know that there have been a number of female "linesmen"'/assistant referees in the past, however I don't think there has been a female referee in a League game before. Correct if I am wrong. Soccer Follower
I think that Wendy Toms only reached the assistant referee's role in the Premiership.
