Dave Deacon
Finished 2-0 to Bodmin Town against worthy opponents Elburton Villa. In an even first half the difference was a Steve Colwell goal - a cracking volley from distance scored in the 34th minute, and Bodmin got the decisive second only three minutes into the second half when Sam Matthews scored from close range after good work from Andy Carter. Zac
Wasn't a classic but as expected, Bodmin win again. Congratulations to them!
Dave Deacon
What finals are classics? However, I thought the first half was particularly even with the highlights being Steve Colwell hitting the bar and Sam Matthews running in to get on the rebound, but the ball bouncing over him and out of trouble. Ten minutes later Colwell made the most of a defender's header out by volleying back in an unstoppable shot, leaving the Elburton 'keeper diving after the ball had entered the net. Two minutes later Elburton felt hard done by when penalty appeals for a foul on Levi Landricombe were turned away by referee Lee Roberts. When Bodmin's second went in, just three minutes into the second half, with Sam Matthews finishing off some good work by Adam Carter in the Elburton penalty area, it was always going to be hard for the Devon club to come back and if anything Bodmin could have made the margin bigger - Matthews missing a good opportunity from close in. Not a classic, but the two sides made it a good game worthy of a final.
