Result And Match Report From Mill Marsh Park: Bovey Tracey 3-2 Falmouth Town

Recommended Posts

BOVEY TRACEY capped off their season with victory against a Falmouth side eager to have a good pre-season to improve on a difficult season.

The Moorlanders also await news on an application into the FA Cup and FA Vase which could see a much needed financial reward.

Falmouth Town were on top from the start and for much of the half looked likely to get a couple of goals early on. That they did. Top scorer Glen Squires was given to much space and time as he drilled a fierce shot across Tom Brooks and thanks to the inside post the ball went in.

Bovey strikers Sam Dicken and Dale O'Donaghue had chances after 20 minutes but all their efforts went wide.

Bovey were the better side in the final 10 minutes of the half and captain Dan Taylor got Bovey back into the game with an equaliser direct from a corner. No player from either side made attempt to connect with the delivery and the ball rolled into the back post.

At half time both sides made changes. Bovey replaced Tom Arnold and Dale O'Donaghue with Jake Welch and Hayden Roe; Falmouth change was Ben Ramdas on for Ross Pope.

At this stage of the game Bovey were only 45 minutes away from securing the 40 points needed with a draw, but Manager Ryan German was eager to win the game.

In the second half Bovey started on top as within 2 minutes Sam Dicken was set free and only had Falmouth's second choice 'keeper Ethan Fearn to beat. Dicken had two decisions, strike on goal or play it across the box for Hayden Roe. Dicken took the second option and his ball across the box couldn't find Roe whose outstretched leg failed to connect with the ball.

Bovey took the lead in the 55th minute courtesy of another corner from Dan Taylor. The midfielder unable to cap off a second goal direct as Ben Head got the last touch as Fearne was unable to gather.

Two minutes later the game was all but over as Cliff Walters ran 50 yards to recieve a pass on the left side before cutting inside two Falmouth players and his shot curling past Fearne and into the bottom corner. His celebration however could do with some work.

Falmouth didn't give up and shook Bovey with a reply when Rob Wearne was unmarked in the box and his downward header sneaked in from Dan Richardson's corner.

Bovey made their last change on 65; Maric replacing Dicken who had a slight hamstring tear.

An eventful game was capped off with 3 bookings in a 5-minute spell; Rob Wearne and Hayden Roe clashing on 67 after both going for the same ball and Richardson on 72 for a late tackle. Falmouth's Morgan Vallevo replaced Tom Dunston for the last 15 minutes but Bovey held on for all three points.
