Ivybridge Town 2 v 1 Penzance

Recommended Posts

Ivybridge should have been out of sight by half time, having had a penalty saved early in the first, continued to bombard the Pz goal, but the keeper made 3-4 saves which kept the score at 0 - 0.

HT 0 - 0

There was always a possibilitily that Pz would make Ivybridge pay for all the missed chances, which they did on the very rare occasion that they had chance to shoot, going 1 - 0 some 20 mins after the break, Pz could have put 11 men behind the ball and defend to try and gain their first win of the season but they continued to press forward, they eventually conceded the equaliser and Ivybridge went on to get the winner and take the 3 points.

FT 2 - 1

Crowd 80 ish

Think your report is a little harsh on Penzance as you didn't bombard the Penzance goal and the penalty as agreed by everyone in the ground, apart from the ref, agreed it was never a penalty.

Give Penzance some credit as yes they did have to defend a lot but did so very well restricting Ivybridge to half chances.

Also after taking the lead and eventually being pegged back the players heads never went down and in fact should have gone 2-1 up.

Penzance eventually went down to an injury time winner, all credit to Penzance for giving a gutsy 100% performance from every one.

Well done lads for completing all your fixtures when it would have been easy to walk away and seek glory elsewhere. You are a credit to yourself, your team mates and Ptenzance football club. It has been a pleasure to work with you this season, thank you. ]

I haven't contributed to this forum for God knows how long, but I just had to take this opportunity to thank the players and everybody else at Penzance for ensuring that this season's fixtures were completed. All of us who follow this club were seriously worried that it might fold before the season began, or shortly thereafter. It is little short of a miracle that we still have a team to support, and it has involved an immense effort on the part of those directly involved in the running of the club. And, of course, the players.

Who cares a damn that we've been relegated? Who gives a tinker's cuss about the goal difference, or the absence of a win in the league? At least we now have the chance to re-group and move forward in Division One West, however long it takes.

I am already looking forward to next season, regardless of what our fortunes may be on the pitch.

Thank you very much once again everyone.

The penalty may have seemed harsh, but, as soon as you put you hands on the attackers shoulders to jump, your asking for trouble.

The half chances as you call them, were one on ones, but the keeper made the save with his legs, along with some poor finishing by the strikers (not even hitting the target with headers from 6 yds), so slightly more than half chances, as I said if Ivybridge had taken their chances the game would have been over by half time.

Good luck for next season.
