AJW
Grampound 4 Probus 0 It was unusual to have this most intense of local derbies as the first league game of the season and in the first quarter of an hour Probus looked the more composed. After 25 minutes, though, Grampound took the lead from a Shane Weeks penalty and never looked back, controlling the game from then on, going 3 up by half time with further goals from Ross Turton and Andy James. The latter's box-to-box performance deserved a goal and he was rightly named as Grampound's man of the match by manager Glyn Leaney. With Probus fading by the minute, the second half was again controlled by Grampound, with Probus striker and best outlet Chris Heywood getting few opportunities. Grampound substitute Stuart Harris came on with 25 minutes to go after a year away from the game and gave the Probus defence a torrid time, scoring the final goal after outpacing defenders and banging a low shot into the net. Duchy 2 is going to be an interesting contest this year, with a number of very good sides competing.
