Guest Luffy
Trispen 1 (0) v (0) 1 Gloweth Utd Cruse The game was not the best in the world due to a brisk wind that was blowing up the ground. Trispen did not play well whilst Gloweth seemed to settle alot quicker. Both sides had chances to score, however, the best opportunity of the first half fell to the homeside who where awarded a penalty. Unfortunately for the Pens Liam Matthewman saw his spot kick well saved by the Gloweth keeper who had an excellant game. The second half saw a slight improvement from the homeside who seemed disjointed, which could be understood with five changes from tuesday, this also may have had a bearing on the performance due to this being their second game within two days. Gloweth drew first blood with a shot from just outside the 18 yrd box which went in off the post giving stand in keeper James Butler no chance. This seemed to shake the homeside who then put the awayside under some pressure which did bear fruit with Mike Cruse scoring with a header. It would be hoped that the goal would spur the homeside on victory but Gloweth held firm and could have scored themselves on the break. In the last seconds of the match Jolly hit a 25 yard shot that hit the underside of the crossbar which looked to have bounced over the line but it would have been very difficult for the referee to have been sure. A draw seemed a fair result, with Trispen getting another run out for fitness, although the result is not significant a under par performacne was a little bit disappointing. Thanks to Gloweth for giving us a competitive game as they did last year, I hope they have a fruitful season.
