Holman SC 1-4 Perranwell

Att 25

HT 1-1

Holman goalscorer Tarik Kalkan

Another week...Another loss! You can't say we aren't consistent!! I got the nod for the starting 11 this week although to be fair it was pretty nailed on due to the fact we had a bare 11! Chris Minns didn't make it back from darkest deepest east cornwall, Sol Coppola was a no show and Charlie Tasker had decided he would much rather spend his time compiling another you tube sensation hit song!!! See link http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5fdwtIFTEo

amazing I know.!!!!! ..... we had started playing his songs before a match just to get us in the mood but everybody was phoning the Samaritans after the game so we had to ban it!!!

Anyway on to the game Perranwell pretty much were throwing everything at us for the first 20min but luckily we had nicked a barn door from next doors farmers field and sportingly put it across our goalmouth and they were having a marvellous game of failing to hit it. Bobby and I were having a difference of opinion on defending.....due to my world renown electric pace I had suggested a more deeper sit on the edge of the box approach whilst Bobby was preferring the lets chase after the ball going over our head style....needless to say we called years of birth to decide it and I won!! Holmans skipper Jase was having a bit of a nightmare due to the fact he's been suffering all week from the dreaded "squits" and had heroically pulled on the green shirt for the match....mike brewer wished he hadn't at one point when they had gone in for a tackle and Jase had let rip!!! Luckily for Mike nothing dribbled past the back of Jase's knee at that point....grim I know!!!

Luckily for us completely against the run of play we decided to make thing interesting and score a goal!! Tarik latched on to some neat play and we found ourselves 1-0 up.....we even managed to keep hold of the lead for 10min until Ben maimed one of the Perranwell forwards to give away a cast iron penalty.....I'm writing to say it was cast iron to try and convince myself it was and therefore not have to go down the ground today and try and find all the Japanese snipers hiding in the bushes!!! Mike Brewer relieved not to have to be near Jase for two mins duly dispatched the penalty into the bottom corner and the scores were level!

Ht 1-1

Usual 2nd half from us....Sam Eva came up with the great statistic as we lined up for the 2nd half telling me that he can't remember us ever scoring at the "rail track" end which is really great to know when your kicking off and playing towards the "rail track" end for the next 45mins....thanks Sam! We held out until the 70th min but foolishly were lured into a trap by the cunning Perranwell defence who allowed us to actually have a go at their goal only for it to break down and then a quick punt down the other end and they scored...bugger :(. To be fair to Perranwell they were the better side in the 2nd 45min and former Holmans/Pendeen/Penryn/St Day/Storm/probablyafewmoreclubsihaventmentioned player Rikki Smith fresh from chucking umpteen cabbage patch kids around Blaythorne because he was on the bench came on and proved to be a bit of a handful!! 2 more goals for the away side meant that we finished with the same scoreline as the cup game 2 weeks ago so at least we are keeping consistent I got shown a yellow shiny thing by Derek for a bit of a blatant hand ball so another £10 donation to the Ccfa's chosen charity of choice so all in all another fulfilling Saturday afternoon

On a final note the Perranwell lines person was a well known forum contributor B.Manning so always nice to put a face to a name we face Newquay next week and another loss will mean the Kilimanjaro mountain to climb may become more Everest in appearance but will keep on trucking....14 games till retirement :)

We went to watch st day v penryn this week and I must say the st day set up is one of the best around not only in the combo but in the SW,a great clubhouse, pitch and facilities in general, the game was a decent one,st day always looked strong and penryn a little on the light side of things,a fair scoreline on reflection and the ref had a good game also, are st day intending to go up if they finish in the appropriate position??

Falmouth Athletic 4 - 2 Newquay

A very bumpy pitch - Newquay made the early running and had a lot of the ball with out troubling the Athletic goal.

Against the run of play Falmouth broke quickly and smuggled the ball to Mark Minto Kent whos fancy footwork was too much for the Newquay center back who brought him down for a stone wall pen - Quaid Saunders slotted home for 1 nil.

Falmouth made it 2 nil on the 1/2 our mark with a fantastic solo run from Jordan Dingle who picked the ball up just inside his own half burst through and slotted past the keeper.

After the break Falmouth started brightly with great football between the forwards with Alex Miller pulling the strings for Falmouth but Newquay pulled a goal back through a fantastic through ball and great curling finsh from just outside the box.

Falmouth restored thier 2 goal lead with a tap in from Brett Southered and quickly made it 4-1 through skipper Miller whos deflected shot sent the keeper the wrong way.

Newquay did manage to pull a goal back when Stephen Emile Heskey Owen put through his own net........ (at least he has finally notched). to make it 4-2.

16 points from a possible 21 since the the new management setup was installed.. not bad for a team tipped for relegation.

St ives home next week a very tough test for us. lets hope the run continues

Si Ives played Helston on Sat in the quarter final of the Charity Cup, st ives took the lead through an early penalty scored by Martin Moon and then the game settled down with Helston playing some nice football but not really threatening our goal, the game was played in a good spirit and sensibly refereed by John Barnicoat.

Helston applied more pressure towards the end and managed to equalise with only a couple of minutes remaining which took the game into extra time.

Helston certainly had the upper hand in extra time and had some good chances but through some luck and good goalkeeping we managed to get to penalties.

Helston had a couple of chances to win it as we missed two ourselves but our keeper Dave Chard pulled of a couple of brilliant saves which took it into sudden death.

After Ian Hodges had scored for us Dave then made another brilliant save to take us through and cue wild celebrations....

Must say as a club we appreciated the way Helston conducted themselves in defeat, there players and management were a credit to their club and it was good to see them all back at the Pub afterwards for a drink... Good luck to them for the rest of their season.
