Helston & Godolphin have now submitted plans for floodlights and seating to Cornwall Council. It will make the three way fight for promotion very interesting, Wadebridge already have the required facilities.

Planning permission must be in place by 31st March for the SWPL to consider a side for promotion, if either club are promoted, they have two years to get the lights up and running or face automatic relegation. From a Newquay point of view, a local derby at Xmas & Easter will be a boost for both clubs and of course, it would be highly unlikely that both clubs would be fixtured to play at home on the same day, as we are now on many Saturdays.

Good luck to both, it is great that clubs are looking to raise standards on and off the pitch.

Just one small point thou' for clubs going from Step 7 to Step 6 to consider,

According to a report in the Non League Paper (25-11-12), the FA have changed the rules regarding floodlights, It states that after gaining the planning permission by 31st March 2013, the lights must be installed by 31st March 2014, and those that fail to install will be relegated regardless of where they finish.

So it seems that the 2 year rule has been done away with.

Don't you just love the FA. For clubs like Helston and Godolphin who are trying to improve their facilities, they just snatch the rug away from under them. Have the FA ever been to Cornwall and seen how clubs struggle to keep going, and if they have, do they care. I guess we all know what FA stands for. Best guess gets a jelly baby.

The cornwall fa are no better and I wonder why they exist. For what they do for cornish football is useless but I understand their staff receive very good salaries !
