Polperro 5 St Blazey 1

Superb performance from Polperro against a Blazey side bolstered by Kieran Conibear Trathen and Martin Giles from St Austell. With top scorer Dominic Richardson working, Polperro turned to Duchy League leading scorer Colin Wilson from their second string, and he rolled back the years with 4 goals. Polperro's other goal was a great individual effort from Dale Hooper. Dave Hooper replied for Blazey.

Goes to show the strength and depth we have at polperro with both teams doing well in the league, and both are able to intergrate with each other with no problems.

Great result Sarge and Matt. Sarge you know you should be playing in that league anyway. (as you know, I'm always saying to you).

Did Blazey bother walking next door to your bar? They didn't make the 50m walk last week, not one.

Wonder if any players were dropped for the help they bought in. Anyway, good result.

have to agree with you steff...lack lustre performance by saltash, pitch was awful; as was the ref. He did not contribute in us not getting 3pts it was the players completely...lack of passion and desire today from too many of them.

Thank yourself lucky that you were able to get your game on yesterday, I found myself wasting my money watching argyle as our game was off. As for the referee comment...think may be you should keep your comments to yourself, referees read these pages. Lacking passion....you have just signed scholes, hes got plenty of passion, just no quality at all and lacking that vital organ....."a brain"

Saw Plymstock v Edgecombe yesterday not the prettiest game , very even with two good sides trying to play football on a poor surface , As for the Ref ,he produced a master class , was cool ,calm , friendly , very vocal and looked like he was enjoying him self , this helped the players to play football and they seemed to want to , he booked one player who seemed to take it with out complaint , the ref was very noticable cause he did his job very well . I thought for once i praise a ref well done.

Dave, how come you're struggling for players? Would think they'd be queuing up to play on Blaise Park every other week? Know what you mean though, can't remember the last time I picked the same 11 two weeks running

we've had injuries, guys working even a player going 2 watch the x factor road show-adrian rundle hang ur head in shame lol

seems that we r on a bad luck run really not scoring as many goals as we shud n conceding far more than we wud like 2.

Things hopefully will pick up we got nanpean next week a game we shud win but i had a call from carl rickard earlier saying looking 4ward 2 sat cos they got 3 of st dennis 1st teamers in if their games off lol

You'd think the St Dennis 1st teamers would help out their 2nd team before Nanpean?!

Most of them do willser, it's only Carl that will play for nanpean if our games off,

I don't understand why the st Dennis lads get a bit of a pasting on here. I have played against them many times over the years and they, as the whole club, have always been a great bunch of lads and eager to help the club progress....including their second team!

Maybe all you mugs will start listening to me now it's all piecing together. Millbrook and Parkway the top 2! Torpoint have never been in it and continue to drop points and as for Bude, ha ha ha ha well the least said about them the better, not got the minerals have they!

Torpoint have got Millbrook (Home & Away) and have also got to go to Parkway....other than that their remaining games are all winnable so don't right them off just yet.

Have a feeling though that if the League does prove beyond them this season (due to some indifferent form early on), they may go for the cup which they have failed to win during their dominance in the League over the past 5 years (St Dennis's double year excepted).

Also, don't right off this years dark horses Tavistock.

They have got a very strong team ethic this season and with Jamie Castle in terrific form they aren't conceding many goals so subsequently not losing (only 1 defeat to date).

Having four or five teams in the mix (but with so many games to catch up) is making it more interesting this year anyway

St Dennis lads help out Nanpean when they are asked, because like Blazey we have a lot of young players that work some Saturday's, also all the Nanpean boys are locals who have played for St Dennis over the last couple years. Looking forward to Saturday Mr Grose, although you failed to mention St Austell boys playing again sat for you, is this why you expect to WIN

Come on the Rovers.

I have just read a report of the Torpoint v Liskeard game and was surprised to see that Liskeard only had 9 players This must be an embarassment to the club and is sad to see ,especially at this level of football.Turning up with out a full team is something you normally find in youth football .So come on Liskeard ,pull your finger out before you become a laughing stock in local football.

I think the current problems with Liskeard 2nds may have something to do with the club promoting from within for their new 1st team manager to replace Martin Burgess.

That's nothing against Paul Blatchford who in many respects was the right man for the 1st team job and is a good manager with a decent record at Callington, Bere Alston, St Dominick and also the season and a half he had with the Liskeard 2nd team in conjunction with Martin McHugh. He also a good motivator (beleive me I've heard him!!)

The problem lies in that when Darren Edwards and Karl Curtis left the 1st team for Torpoint they took a few players with them (as is usual at SWPL level). Martin Burgess came in and brought in a host of new players some of whom left and went back to the likes of Vospers when Martin left and one or two others also left for pastures new.

By promoting from within for their new 1st team manager, barring the odd signing, the injection of new players that usually comes with a new manager from outside the club hasn't happened and as such Blatch has no doubt taken the better players from the 2nd team with him up to the 1sts.

Subsequently, it would appear that without a new man going in to run the 2nds with Martin McHugh and likewise brining in new players, Martin has been left with a smaller (and dare I say it poorer) squad to work with.

One or two injuries or players unavailable can then have drastic consequences as would appear to be the case at Torpoint last Saturday.

It was well documented on here (rightly or wrongly) that Liskeard were having one or two problems between the 1st and 2nd team earlier in the season and it would appear that with the 1st team taking precedence (as should always be the case) the 2nd team are now suffering.

I'm sure that at a big club (in local terms) like Liskeard, both 1st and 2nd teams will turn things around sooner rather than later.

I think it's certainly a case of getting both teams to the end of the season unscathed and re-build pre-season in preparation for next season.

They will bounce back, living in the local area there's plenty of local talent that's more than capable of playing East Cornwall standard.
