Crusty
Are there any teams form East Cornwall Premier applying for promotion to the SWPL ? Sorry if this has been covered, i did search but couldn't find any subjects on the matter. Just a bit of curiosity.
swiggsy
I believe it's just 2 teams applying, us (Millbrook) and I'm fairly certain bude are applying but somebody from them would have to confirm if that's true. Whilst on the subject could anyone clarify the criteria for going up as I've heard conflicting reports. ie what position u need to finish in. Crusty
It would be good to see millbrook back in the South west Peninsula again, having rebuilt from scratch, a real credit to themselves. I'm guessing there facilities are all in place still so it would be just a case of if they finish in the top 2/3 positions in the east cornwall. skippy
With the March 1 cut off date looming, are there any Combo clubs applying for promotion? Would the facilities at St Day be acceptable for step 7 grading? How about Illogan?
Mark Leah
Hang on fellas, hold your horses no promotion yet, this is the highest position we have ever been in the combo. The club has taken a massive rebuilding process in the last 3 years and the ship is now stable (I hope). The committee I would say are happy where the club is and the progress we are making. The facilities are up to SWPL standard, all that would need to be done is to make the pitch 2 yards wider, which is possible. Mark
cornishteddyboy
Keep this under your hat but I can tell you as of yesterday 19-2-13 no-one from the combo has applied for promotion to the SWPL and 2 teams have applied to join the Combo. I can not tell you anything else until the information is made official. Mind you there is still a little time to go for teams to apply. Don't forget the Combo meeting on Thursday. WendronOfficial
Will Illogan ever apply? Great club with really good infrastructure, their second team is more than good enough to hold their own in combo and support the first team, their manager is one of the best around, large catchment area that would attract more players and spectators. Surely they could attract some kind of extra sponsorship? They have achieved at this level year on year and they have pitted themselves well against clubs in higher leagues when drawn against them in cups. I would like to see Illogan give it a go, surely the players want to test themselves as do the management staff. Perhaps not this year, but in the next couple... Jamo, Mikey P...would be interesting to hear from them and perhaps Abbo as a second teamer? Just my thoughts, I know that is our ambition here at Wendron. S Abbo
Me personally would love to see the club step up. Definitely got the quality I reckon. Got some good players in the seconds that i believe want to play senior football aswell. Too late for this year tho
Grass
I would love illogan to make the step up. The reason i left last year was to play senior football and achieved that with hayle last year playing for the swpl team and apart from acouple trips to plymouth i really dont think the travelling is that bad and get to go to play ondifferent pitches that you dont normally do would urge the club to give it ago. Worse thing would be it doesnt work out but would be able to rebuild like wendron and goonhavern have done in the past go for it

The Redruth / Camborne area is a real back hole as far as the SWP is concerned. Until this happens rugby will keep getting the lions share of publicity and money.
