Trelawny 2
Falmouth Athletic res 3 (1) Storm 8 (4)

As much as I'd like to provide you all with colour commentary on this match, there was too much going on to keep track, so heres what i remember!

Athletic took the lead early, capitilising on a defensive mixup. After 15 mins or so, Storm came to life, restoring parity through David Mitchell and taking the lead through a James Chilman penalty after a handball. David Mitchell added his 2nd after being set up by some excellent play by Matt Doble, and the influential Mitchell setu up Maybin making it a well deserved 4 at the half.

Falmouth came out hard at us after the break, pulling a goal back from the spot after what looked like you average foul on the touchline winger brought down, definitely a freekick, only to find that there's no more than 5 yards between box and touchline. Mitchell scored 2 more, Maybin and a Mike Price long range freekick added to our tally whilst we missed more opportunities to extend the lead. Athletic scored late on with a volley from a deep freekick.

Thanks to Jordan Myatt who reffed the game after his game was called off. Great to see young refs coming through and thought he was very fair throughout.

Mawnan 0-4 Illogan.

Great result from the illogan lads. Illogans goals was good build up, quality finishes and from a good set peice. Goals scored by Adam Callaway 2.. Ryan traloar... and Gareth Pitt. Shaun Carter saved a pen in the corner and all.

Grear food after the game thanks for that.

Division 3

Porthleven: 4 vs 1 Gulval Reserves:

Both teams started the game like they couldn't be arsed, and to be fair if I had to play on Rangers' pitch every week I'd probably hang me boots up, to call it a pitch is a "piss take", my 5 year old lad plays on better.. 'Leven took the lead after about 15 mins of Gulval pressure (as per usual) but were pegged back after the long awaited, virgin goal from Ellis :ninja:. At no point did Gulval show the fire and heart that has been keeping our heads up over recent weeks and Rangers went on in a stroll to win the game comfortably. Gulval had there chances but poor finishing throughout the team again proved to be our downfall. Fair play to Rangers, today their couple of flair players won the game, but we literally rolled over for it.

Where do I start boys??? Sorry to use a cliché but we "just didn't turn up". After such a great performance last week, we were possibly guilty of complacently this week.

Every one of us needs to analyse our own performance today and ask ourselves; did I try enough, did I run enough, did I work enough. did I want to win, could I have done more????

Despite the negatives, another top class performance from Shaun in nets, positive effect on the scoreline again( Happy Birthday :smiley20: ).Belly, after pulling a hammy during our 3 minute warm up had another solid game. John was a constant workhorse alongside TJ, Scotty showed how much he's improved over the season and had a steady game. Joe played his role well and was unlucky to come off early with a slight ankle niggle. Dan Hopkins sacrificed his attacking duties 2nd half and is noted as a great credit to his character. Ellis got his goal which will hopefully see him finding the net on a regular basis.

Poorly reffed on an awful pitch full of lethargic players.

ruan minor 3 holmans res.2

main difference between the two teams today was that ruans boys could run and we could not.ruan took a two goal advantage to the break with the holmans defence standing and appealing for offside.2nd half holmans had a good 20mins ruan had a corner and scored at 3-0 down we woke up got a goal back then somehow missed from 3 yards with hammers floundering on the floor trying to kick the ball with a defender sat on it.with 10 mins to go we lose tony eddy who dislocated his shoulder and we are down to 10 men.then with 5 to go scotty robinson scores a volley to make it sweaky bum time but ruan hold on and take the points.thanks to ruan for the food after, the shower was an experience with no lights and total darkness.

Arthur Pearce Cup

Hayle 4ths 2-3 Marazion Res

The Homecoming

With the majority of the Marazion players returning to the club they used to play for this was always going to be massive for both sets of players. Lots of friends and relatives playing against each other. The sledging has been going on since the draw was made months ago, the majority of it coming from Hayle's captain Danny Richards.

Hayle started the better, packing the midfield giving us no room or time on the ball. Playing with the wind and slight slope we relied too much on playing the ball over the Hayle's back four. With few chances in the opening 20 mins, the only thing of any interest were a couple of yellow cards for both sides which appeared harsh. The ref said he would not tolerate any swearing but for me as long as its not directed at another person it's ok. Hayle made the break through when a corner seemed to hang in the air and the player climbed the highest to head the ball past Eric in goal. This was the kick up the backside we needed. Within minutes a sweeping moved from left to right found Craig Rennard homing in on goal. He took his shot early and what looked like a routine save for the keeper, seemed to deceive him and found it's way into the bottom corner. The momentum was then with us and we were soon in front. Danny Rochards made the cardinal sin for a defender and played the ball across his box. With the keeper out of his goal, Craig reacted quickest and intercepted and rolled it into the empty net. We continued to dominate the last few minutes but the scored remained the same.

The second half was only a few minutes in when we made it a lot harder for ourselves. Having already been booked, I think for a late tackle, Liam Mooney chase a ball through on goal. With an awkward bounce, somewhere in his head he thought it would be a good idea to push it forward with his hand. The ref saw it and to be honest it was so blatant everyone there saw it the ref had no alternative but to show him another yellow and we were down to 10 men with 40 odd minutes left. This spurred Hayle on and for the next 20 - 25 minutes they dominated possession and territory, with us looking to catch them on the break. Matt Thomas then had a chance to make it 3-1 but missed from 5 yards with the goal beckoning. Then with a ball played into the Hayle box Matt controlled it and turned Danny only for the Hayle skipper to take his legs away. Words were then exchanged between the two but when Danny then pushed Matty there was only gonna be one decision the ref was going to make. By the time the ref had reached for his cards Danny was almost back to the club house. 10 against 10, 2-1 up and a penalty with only about 10 mins to go we were looking good. Up steps Dale Vigus who has not missed a penalty all season. Yep, he hit the outside of the post. Thankfully Matty made up for his earlier miss when the ball bounced up in the box and he rifled it passed the Hayle keeper. If you thought that was that you would be wrong. I asked the ref how long was left and the reply was 1 min plus 4 mins injury time. Within seconds of being told this Matty tracked a Hayle player into our box and as he was about to shoot, he kicked Matt's leg and tumbled over. Ref gave a penalty although from our point of view it wasn't. Young Tommy Richards kept a cooler head than his captain and brother and tucked the ball into the bottom corner. Then within minutes of the restart Barney Dagger cut inside and then shot towards goal. I was standing within 2 metres of him and with my hands by my side the ball hit my hand. Again the ref pointed to the spot. Can't see how I could of got my hands out of the way which didn't help when the ref said it was a soft penalty. Thankfully Eric stood his ground and Tommy put it in the opposite direction to his first but too close to Eric who pushed it away.

All in all I think we shaded it but this was a game that had everything. Hayle are a talented side and John has got them playing attractive football. Thankfully we are through to the next round and are still undefeated this season. Ref was a little card happy and booked one of our players for swearing when he scored....!!!

Pretty fair description of the game although to say you shaded it I don't agree with we piled on the pressure at 2-1 down and had a good few chances to at least level. But for all the grief your keeper gets about (apparently not being very good) boy did he make some crucial saves and unless your waist is up by your neck then it was deaf a pen. Very good game to be involved in. we also had Danny booked for swearing when we scored, ref was very card happy! We deserved extra time and would have been a very interesting extra half hour

Yeah you did pile on the pressure when we lost Liam but we had several chances ourselves which could have sealed the game plus the penalty miss. It's only my view of the game and Eric did play very well. As for the penalty my hand didn't leave my side and Barney shot from only a few feet away. No chance I could move it out of the way so we will have to agree to disagree on that one. One things for sure both team should get promoted from their respective divisions if they play like they did today. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

This was a cracking game of football played in good spirit by all the Hayle based lads on both sides.Three penalties, two sending offs and end to end edge of the seat stuff for 90 minutes.

Could have gone either way really and it was a shame the wind played such a part as both teams have the ability to play good football which the conditions didnt always allow.

Ref could have ruined it with so many cards early on but got the sendings off right and probably the penalties as well.

MOM the Marazion keeper who made at least 3 match saving stops.

Nice to see Stevie, Paul and all the Hayle lads again.

Constantine Res 0 - 1 West Cornwall Res (HT 0-0)

Pretty scrappy game played on an unsurprisingly heavy pitch, West Cornwall hadn't had a game for 6 weeks before this and it certainly showed.

Fairly even but mostly uneventful first half with neither keeper having much to do.

If anything Constantine had the better possession in the second half but just lacked that last bit in the final third. Game had 0-0 written all over it until West Cornwall scored a breakaway winner in pretty much the last minute.

Great feeling to come away with all the points despite being far from our best, Constantine deserved something from the game but it wasn't to be.

Difficult game for the ref who was getting almost constant stick, particularly from the Constantine players and sideline, he made a few mistakes but overall dealt with it well.

Thanks to Constantine for the grub and hospitality after, good luck for the rest of the season.

Trevenson Utd 1-1 Rosudgeon (HT 0-1)

On another day Rosudgeon could have won this games by double figures, but wasteful finishing and a fine display by the Trevenson keeper meant they got a share of the spoils.

Trevenson nicked a goal, after the break, one of few chances they created all game to Trevensons credit they defended for there lives, and did look dangerous on the break, but didnt really make Rosudgeons keeper work to often.

All the best to Trevenson for the rest of the season

You must have been watching the game through rosé tinted glasses Timbotastic, to say Trevenson had few chances and spent the match defending is a little churlish to say the least.

Agreed Rosudgeon had chances and were kept out by an excellent keeper but the game was very even with excellent chances from Trevenson who tried to play football on the floor as opposed to the long high ball over the top which seemed to be Rosudgeons tactics.

Both teams could of won and no one could of argued if they had off, in the end a draw was about right.

What can I say as we only have the four pitch's to choose from and the other three were all unplayable we had to use what was left, sorry about that perhaps next time we wont bother. The pitch may have been below the standard you wanted but at least we had the good grace to lend you kit and offer the use of footballs to warm up with. I think I'd be hanging up my boots a dam site quicker if that's what you have to suffer each week.

On the plus side for Rangers we managed to cobble together 12 players plus myself somehow. Without 7 of are usual side available it was strikers on the flanks, a defender in goal and a mid field made up of fullbacks. We always thought we would struggle at times and we did but in the end for the most part we ran out comfortable winners. Those that played did a cracking job and thanks to all of you for your efforts, where ever you were asked to play.

The Gulval keeper had a cracking game pulled off a couple of great stops and didn't drop a ball all game long. They worked hard and perhaps didn't test the keeper when they should have. May be if they had known how we were fixed it may have been a different game.

Thought the Ref should have given Gulval a pen for sure but he decided otherwise. Its fair to say he likes to let the game flow. As we didn't have a ref to start with thanks have to go to him for doing the job.

Division 2

St Ives Reserves 2 - 1 Frogpool

Due to the spot of rain we've had recently, yesterday's match was our first since we agonisingly lost in the last minute to Frogpool a few weeks ago, so a turnaround was much needed to maintain the early season form.
Both teams were slightly changed from the last meeting, but as always, what ensued was a closely fought encounter.
There was also a decent turn out for the game, with even a guest appearance from the league leaders, no doubt there to cheer both teams on. Unfortunately, the conditions were not ideal for a good spectators game, with a greasy surface (with two lovely cement sand pits in the 6 yard areas for the goalkeepers to make castles in) and a stiff breeze blowing from one end to the other.
St Ives kicked off with the wind at their backs, and found themselves with a great deal of possession in the opening 10 minutes, with Barney Poznansky and James Worrall (or as they were known for the day, Poz and Woz) dictating the passing game from the centre of midfield. In the opposition camp, Frogpool were looking to break quickly and often, with Ten Legs seemingly wearing Mo Farah's boots with a several lung bursting runs with the ball.
Both teams had a couple of early chances, with both teams being surprised by one of my kicks actually travelling past halfway and Charlie Eddy forcing a good stop from the keeper, Barney Poz doing the same with a rasping volley. And at the other end, a routine pass back gave me the opportunity to show off my passing skills by expertly playing the Frogpool striker in. Luckily I half redeemed myself with a defenders tackle and the resulting follow up shot drifted wide.. needless to say for the next 70 minutes, any St Ives player facing their own goal did one thing.. put the ball into the Hayle Estuary.

St Ives eventually made their wind assisted and possession advantage count, when neat work by the OAP Scott Goodchild down the right led to a ball into the box, which eventually fell to (as I named him before the game) the ginger teletubby, Danny Paynter whose controlled left foot finish found the bottom corner.. albeit with some offside controversy. In all honesty, and true Arsene Wenger style, all I saw was the ball go in the bottom corner, but I was led to believe the ball went through the legs of Gilly who was impeding the view of the goalkeeper in an offside position. The Frogpool linesman originally flagged and then put it down, so the Ref went to speak to him and was satisfied that the goal should stand.
As always, being a goal behind never bothers Frogpool, and with Nick bellowing fire and brimstone at them from the touchline, they started to press higher up the field, but the latest instalment of a back four of Nathan Basset, Max Sumray (who was outstanding on his return after a lengthy absence), Nick Strong and Fraser Short were standing strong.
A second goal arrived close to half time, with a flowing counter attack move from a Frogpool corner started by a brilliant defensive header from Gilly, led to a charge down field, with the former finding the ball at his feet to release OAP Scott who turned on the rocket boosters before finishing calmly into the corner.
HT 2-0
With the turnaround at half time came a change in roles, with Frogpool looking to press hard in search of a goal back, and St Ives looking to counter when possible. What ensued for the next 30 minutes was somewhat of a turgid midfield slog, that made the Christmas Day match of WWI in No Man's Land look like El Classico. All of which left me and most watching no doubt knowing how the snowmen on the M6 feel..
Eventually, Frogpool created the first shot on target of the second half, and from the resulting corner, their goal arrived. There didn't seem to be much danger when the ball came towards the near post with 2 defenders and the Yeti in close attendance. However, the corner taker clearly had the Staff of Moses in his hands, as he managed to part the defenders as the ball arrived, with it duly skipping past everyone else and going in off the back post.
This seemed to bring about an overwhelming sense of Deja Vu for both teams (Nick's Cornish war-cry of "they don't like it up 'em in the last 10 do they!" was a particular highlight), but to a man St Ives had played well and defended brilliantly all afternoon, and in truth, we nearly sneaked a killer goal towards the end, with new signing Jake Hincliffe looking lively, nearly scoring himself and hitting a lovely cross to Gilly, whose head unfortunately lost in a race with his shoulder to the ball 5 yards out and seeing it loop over.

All in all, a dogged display by the Saints against a team that you're delighted to take 3 points from. All the best to the lads at Frogpool for the season, once again, a great bunch of lads.

Referee Mark Hosking was consistent throughout, quite a lot of 50:50 decisions to give yesterday and I think he got the majority right. If you have him as a ref, look out for his young son.. lad can strike a ball!

Redruth Athletic 6-0 Praze res

After 3 weeks out redruth came bouncing back after their loss against hayle. They were up by two goals in five mins after aaron byworth forced an own goal and debut star alex burgess got his first with a lovely run and finish. Stiker john ayres finally got back to his scoring ways puttting two in before the half. Second in my opinion was all about thepraze keeper keeping alot of shots out it took redruth 42 mins to finally get their fifth from captain ben beesley and shortly after super sub ciarran forster again off the bench getting another goal too his record. Keep it up reds big cup game next week

Trelawney Prem

Mawnan 0 - 4 - Illogan (0-2 ht)

(Adam Callaway 2, Gareth Pitt 1, Ryan Treloar 1)

1st Half

Slow out the blocks 1st half and guilty of trying to play too much football at times which on any pitch at this particular time of year is not best plan, also Mawnan seemed well up for it and really chased and closed down. After 30 mins or so we settled started to play football and got loads of space down the right and after a couple of short sharp passes Ryan Treloar smashed one in from 18-20 yrds out. We dominated for the remainder of the half and got a crucial 2nd just before half time by myself!!!

2nd half

Mawnan had another decent spell for 10 minutes or so when they put pressure on and managed to win a dubious pen, I think it was but the player made such a meal of it he almost didn't get it, fortunately the ever reliable Shaun saved it low to his left. We had good control over the game for the rest of it and made a few changes to freshen up legs, Mawnan did have a couple of chances but the best 2 were from 30 yards by Damo who had 1 tipped on the bar and the 2nd hit the bar (great strikes). As the game went on it got easier for us with Adam Callaway scoring a great header from another pin point corner from Abbo and then with 5-10 to go Cally made a wonderful turn in the box and smashed home the goal of the match for the 4th.

As always a tough game down Mawnan with a good bunch of lads making for a hard saturday afternoon, finished off by a great bit of food in the club after, much appreciated.
