Newquay AFC Reserves (Jamie Hodge, 80) 1-2 Goonhavern Athletic (Sam Waters, 20 and Chris Sturgess, 55)

Goonhavern had the better of the first half, with Paul Robertson hitting the crossbar early on before Sam Waters got a goal after Joe Sweet parried a cross from Dan Carne (playing due to the postponement of St Austell's fixture). Newquay began the second half with a bit more about them but were undone when Chris Sturgess' chipped effort found the top corner of Sweet's net from the wing. Jamie Hodge pulled one back to make the final 10 minutes exiting but no equaliser was forthcoming.

NAFC: Joe Sweet, Luke Haworth, Dan Ball, Jedd Jenkins (capt), Sam Hill, Paul Hampshire, Josh Harris (Jamie Hodge 60), Luke Dumbill, Sam McKune (Nathan Starkey 85), Ollie Downing (Alex Cole 78), Josh Sims

Subs Not Used: Scott Bourne

Goonhavern: Tony Chapman, Andy Morris, Rob Watts, Martin Dennis, Chris Sturgess (Chris McCaskie 78), Joe Carlyon (capt), Ian Gosling, Sam Waters, Paul Robertson, Mark Wilson (Lewis Waters 58), Dan Carne

Subs Not Used: Craig Brown

Attendance: 52

Referee: Tim Reeks

Pendeen 1-2 Wendron. Good win for Wendron against highflying Pendeen, Ben Ambrose, very lively for Wendron all game, getting a goal in each half to secure the points. Wade Brown made the Wendron defence work hard all afternoon. Pendeen missed a penalty at the end of the first half, both sides missed some good chances, but Wendron held on doggedly for the last ten minutes. Few teams will go to Borlaise park and come away with three points this season! Great chilli and hospitality from Andre and all at Pendeen after the game.

League Cup QF

Holman Sports Club 1-4 Perranwell

HT 1-1

Holman Goalscorer

Aaron Meridith

Hopes were high we could pull off something a bit special but sadly fell a bit short in the last 15min. Tasky had a bit of a nightmare on his hands due to the unusual case of having all 16 players available rather then the normal bare 11 so I was all up for drawing positions and players out of a hat just to make things interesting but apparently that's the sort of thing you do at the end of the season....spoilsport!!

Things got off to a good start Ben was back in goal after a miraculous recovery from a career threatning medial ligament damage only 7 days ago!!...apparently next week he's turning water into wine! Billings Sat Nag got him back from France (via Florida) and best of all Jase finally got the coin toss right meaning we could punt the ball with the wind first half. The pitch was a bit bobbly from all the tropical weather lately but apart from Aaron who kept slipping over as I'm sure he only had hi tec silver shadows on rather then boots everyone was coping well. Bobby was marking former Holmans/Penryn/Pendeen/St Day striker Rikki Smith which was good for me as last time I ended up giving him a bit of a tickle and ending up seeing a bright yellow thing the ref carries round. It was Rikki who had the first chance to open the scoring but a fine save from Ben denied him the chance. We were being a bit guilty of pumping the ball a bit long but got rewarded when Emo kid Meridith found the back of the net to take the home side 1-0 up

Perranwell rather unsportingly decided to equalise which was a bit annoying especially as it was a self inflicted balls up when Alex should have really adopted the punt the ball long technique but instead tried the Dutch total football Johan Cruyf technique on the edge of our 18 yard box which may work fine on a nice flat rolled surface but sadly the Blaythorne carpet is a bit more unforgiving...dispossessed edge of the area....goal....bugger!!! Sam Eva had a cheeky Halfway line shot which nearly sneaked in but things were pretty even and honours shared at halftime 1-1

I'm sure the wind must have gone from 3 to gale force 9 at half time as Perranwell set up camp in our half. We were hanging on a bit and giving a few silly free kicks away on the edge of the area and Ben had to pull off a bit of a worldie when a free kick went straight through our (crumbling) wall. We threw in a bit of controversy when I swung my leg to clear a corner which went rocketing towards the back of our net and many in the ground felt it went over but luckily our lines person Vladimir Tchiavosky who had the best view said it hadn't :). We couldn't hold out forever and sadly with only 15min to go it was a bit of a freaky one from a free kick that was punted high.....straight over Bens head ....doh!! 1-2. We had to go for it so brought on Billy Wizz Mike and Peg Leg Marcus and went to 3 in the back and although we put Perranwell under a little extra pressure they hit us on the counterattack with 2 goals in the final 7min

Final Score 1-4

So no bus trip for a semi final for us which is unfortunate but we get to play Steve Curnows barmy army next week at Blaythorne and need something out of that as our league position is looking a bit ominous if we don't start picking up points in February

Hayle 1 - 2 Falmouth Athletic - Mark Minto Kent 2

Overall a scrappy game, Falmouth scoring 2 early goals up hill against the wind, could have been more if it wasnt for the Hayle keeper who made a fantastic point plank save from Alex Millers header.

Hayle got back into the game just before the break with a well taken 1st time shot lobbing over Quicky in goal.

2nd half Hayle played some good football making the most of the extra man in midfield but athletic battled hard and kept themat bay, Quicky with a great save right at the end to ensure Athletic came away with all 3 points.

Thanks to Steve and the Hayle boys - great hospitallity in the bar at the end. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Granty

A fair write up, think we deserved a draw but I was the busier keeper to be fair but credit to your teams defending and a good save at the end by your keeper to keep us at bay! See you again this saturday, looking forward to it!
