Bodmin v St Austell 19th January 2013

Recommended Posts

I've just returned home to the Midlands from a brief visit to God's County. I expected to take in the Falmouth v St Austell last Saturday. However I was disappointed to hear on Friday afternoon it had been postponed. Then at 11.05 pm thanks to our beloved Cornwall Football Forum I heard that a match away to Bodmin had been arranged !

This match was arranged amazingly at 19 hours notice. I went to the match and found that a more than decent 8 paged programme had been published, which was free of charge, everything was in order and ran ship shape. I would like to congratulate the officials of both clubs who organised this match at such short notice, especially the two managers Darren Gilbert & Dan Nancarrow for their vision and diligence in giving us a game of football. As regards the match both sides should be praised for playing with such a good level of skill and pace on a very soft pitch that cut up. St Austell were equal to Bodmin for 70 minutes but ran out of steam. Then for the last 20 minutes Bodmin showed what a good team they are by scoring three further goals and also a pleasure to watch.

I wish Bodmin good luck in their match v Ashington and hope they can keep the Cornish flag flying further into the competition.

Thanks also to Nick Giles for making me very welcome and being so helpful.

Good luck to my beloved Lillwhites for the remainder of the season ! All in all a very enjoyable visit despite the weather.

We must also not forget the efforts of the league Secretary Phil Hiscox, who can be guaranteed to assist in making things happen whenever possible.

He also will discuss football topics to anyone he meets. Truly a great Secretary and Gentleman.

I thoroughly agree - what an excellent administrator, who performs miracles in rearranging fixtures so quickly.
