Was down the local tavern having a few ales last night and heard a interesting plot by one of my co-conspirators.

Apparently Redruth United are planning to apply for Combo next season and boy Jeffries has been told by quite a few Illogan Reserves that they are going to join him in his quest.

As I said just a rumour....

Well if Redruth go for combo they would be mad not to try an steal a few from us as Neal knows only too well how gud they are.

But Redruth have only just made trelawney prem so rushing into combo cud be a brave move you need a whole club fully behind it or you end up like portreath.

It would be good for the redruth area that has so many clubs and players to have a SW league side! Illogan could be that club, I dont know anything about how the clubs run but surely this would be a natural progression for them especially like Abbo said with the squads they have!

ILLOGAN IS A MUCH BIGGER CLUB WITH NOT MUCH OF A GAP BETWEEN THE SIDES WHERE REDRUTH WOULD HAV A TEAM IN COMBO AND AN AGEING SIDE IN DIV 4 (I THINK DIV 4?) AS GEE STATED REDRUTH WOULD B BETTER OFF PROVING THEMSELFS IN THE PREM 4 ANOTHER SEASON AT LEAST 1 GUD SEASON DOESNT MAKE U A COMBO SIDE, ALTHOUGH ITS GUD 2 C A CLUB MOVING FORWARD

It has been said many times before that the Camborne and Redruth area are missing a SWPL/Div 1W team.. though I doubt such rumours would make the hierarchy at Illogan suddenly decide that was the right move for their club..

Pretty sure Redruth will be applying for combo but not so sure they will taking illogan players didn't they give them a good run for there money in a recent junior cup match?</p></blockquote>

Few more games to come yet buddy lets see how they go!

Threemilestone have also applied, currently both of these teams are in Trew Prem, only 24 games a season, add another 14 games onto that for the combo, plus cup games, both on pitches that get games called off more regularly than most pitches in cornwall, and i cant see how they are going to fulfil their fixtures in time.

Where do these clubs drink? surly the first tier of senior football should be clubs who have recognised grounds, which include a clubhouse for spectators to have a cuppa or a beer, i realise theres a few now within the combo who dont have a clubhouse either, but i do think if the league set a required standard for teams to get into combo, then all teams in combo should have to be at these same standards by a set date.

I do think its great clubs move forwards by seeking promotion, but again i agree with others when i think Redruth could be rushing things, and could end in tears!

Hope your joking about Threemilestone applying for Combo. My dog's shed is bigger than their changing rooms.

They play down at Malpas now, if my memory serves correctly from sunday league when I played for the mighty Truro GWRSA (under the leadership of Marksy and Reno) 15 years ago they were OK not sure about now days though? Cant be worse than TMS's old changing rooms though, the joys of changing in your car was being kept alive up there!

I remember them playing at the school once where all the pitches are higher up than the one previous, and it was a cold and wet Sunday morning, all hungover, walking right up to the top pitch, the referee was the last person up there, took one look at it and called it off

Good Luck to them, I say. there aren't enough teams with their ambition, especially in the Redruth area. The reserve team, top of div 3 and looking to go up, so the gap wouldn't be that big and who knows, that gap may get even smaller. let's hope Redruth keep their identity and don't turn into Illogan Reserves. Everybody looks at Portreath, but there are a few teams who have either been relegated and made it back to combo successfully or taken a leap and made a go of it. let's be positive and not knock people for the sake of it. If it works out, only time will tell. but with people like Darren and neal etc involved with the club, I'm sure they will be ok (if they finish high enough and pass the grading)

having known darren for a few years now,if he did not think the club was ready he would not apply.he has been working towards this promotion for a long time.i am sure darren could tell you how many games from his bible lol.he has some very experienced people involved with the club that would ensure they did not fail.and even if they did at least they would have tried.

this is what football is all about.in my opinion you should have automatic promotion in every league.what is the point of proving your worth if you are not going onto the next level to try and improve after all it is a competitive sport.

as i have stated above this is just my opinion.

well said teddy personally watching them and a few combo games this year i think they would hold there own with the current squad and no doubt Neil and Ivan will looking to strengthen just like every other manager out there wether it be for playing combo or not. On the plus side we look to stop them in there tracks this saturday weather permitting.

Wouldnt be right if i didnt say ought, first of all i have to say that Mr. Lewarne for redruth football & all as a whole has been & continues to be outstanding. :) No ive not been possessed, as for my old pal Gerrard certainly the right man to guide them in the right direction. However i refuse to accept that Ivan (i lay carpets ) im an elvis impersonator 2000) is the right ,right hand man to go forward with the club, so im happy to relieve Gerrard & co. of his services & take him on board at titans until he is old enough to help you properly :yahoo::thumbsup: . As for Gees comments with reference to GWRSA. I was not joint managers with Reno i was his bitch he picked the side & made me tell all the sunday morning drunks they werent playing. Then after at the club they would slag me off to him & he would say yeh hes ruthless that Marksy. :P

Oh well nothing changed there then. Lets hope RUtd have applied & get there wish :)

Couldn't agree more!!! Although slightly harrowing thought you was my bitch Dave lol. Great Sunday league days. The concern was always trying to find a player that wasn't incapacitated by alcohol on a Sunday morning, lots of laughs on the way.

Anyway staying on topic. Good luck to TMS in their quest of competing in Senior football. Having taken Troon and Holman's through this process it's a great sense of achievement . The CCFA will deem if everything is in place for them to progress.

i believe the proof is in the pudding.I have no connection whatsoever with the said club but whilst managing perran reserves i`ve been on the back hand of a few redruth defeats and i can honestly say i have not once come across a better run club. The professionalism, the conduct, and of course the banter.I for one hope they go combo......they`ll smash that the first season too if they believe in themselves.

I truly beleive what we are seeing here is an adjustment of levels that is a backlash to the creation of the trelawney league from the old set up.Expect helston to be combo the following season too :c:

i heard this aswel but if the illogan res join redruth in the quest for combo glory then the team that redruth 1st r using now could drop down n then achieve promotion to div 3 this is no dif to troon they have combo side and a div 3 or 4 side and a div 5 side and they r doin well this season even with loosing a few player from last seasons squad and needing to use players from the res teams.

I play for illogan 2nds if "illogan reserves" are moving to redruth looking at the SQUAD around 3 maybe 4 i could see joining redruth next year.

A bit laughable really i personally feel our main concern is the retirement of the more experianced players which are much harder to replace.

But if some boys do move up next year to play the level they are more then capable of playing no one can blame them. But to generalise the team in a couple of lads is a typical cornish football rumor. We are all working hard to stay unbeaten as long as we can.

rumours...5 months is a long time in football lets wait and see what happens....there's 10 ex illogan players already at redruth so a strong connection was there before i joined the club . i would also like to add that i'm more than happy with players we already have at the club. :c:
