Camelford won 2-1 away at Roche. Camelford scored first when the ball was crossed in and Fergie Lessels got on the end of the cross and calmly slotted the ball passed the keeper. Roche missed a penalty then equalised with a fine strike from 18 yards. Camelford won the game with a fine bit of play from Craig Thompson. He picked the ball up on the half way line before driving through the heart of the Roche team beating no less than 5 players. He finished it off with a chip in the far corner.

Well overdue win for the Camels and hope we can push on now.

Holywell & Cubert 1 LC Phoenix 4

Launceston College Phoenix took some time to settle in to this clash with top of the table Holywell, but ran out confident winners after a more impressive second half perfomance.

Holywell shaded the early stages of the game but Man of the Match Phoenix goalkeeper, Nick Oldaker, was superb in his role; commanding in the box, and issuing instructions to the Phoenix defence that kept the Holywell attack at bay for at least 80 minutes. Then a change of personel in the second half gave Phoenix more threat and purpose in the final third and the breakthrough came when Harry Marsh collected a pass and slammed the ball home from twenty yards. The goal woke Phoenix up and soon Matt Brookes began producing some excellent runs that tangled up the Holywell defence. Indeed, it was Brookes who scored the goal of the game- after taking the ball past his marker he spotted the Holywell 'keeper off his line and lobbed him at an acute angle from over twenty five yards. Then Shaun Cox claimed his fifth goal in as many games and Phoenix were cruising.

Holywell then pulled one back, but the game was put well beyond their reach when Phoenix were awarded a penalty after the move of the match- involving some sumptious passing- resulted in the Holywell keeper flooring the busy Brookes. Nathan Cox calmly placed the ball to claim a rightfully deserved goal.

The White Hart Hotel Man of the Match Award: Nick Oldaker- an assured performance that bred confidence throughout the team.

St Cleer 3 - 1

On a very heavy pitch St Cleer deservedly won an should have had the game wrapped up at half time and if it wasn't for the calstock heart and quality defending then it would have been.

Second half however calstock came back into it and got an equaliser on the break. Calstock then missed a penalty which could have been the turnin point as st cleer regained their advantage short after.

St cleer dominated the end as calstock lost their shape but still created the odd chance. The st cleer 3rd goal was a top draw thunderbolt of a free kick worthy of premier league.

Calstock with a couple new players still battle on in what is going to be a tough season.

St cleer are a good side that don't deserve to be where they are in the league. They had a couple players go off injured in what was a well contested but not dirty game and we hope they are all ok.

Onto the next game, and hopefully a second win of the season :)

One more thing thank you to st cleer for changing the fixture and making the pitch playable!

St. Columb Major Reserves 3 - 1 St. Cleer Reserves

St. Columb's lengthy break without a competitive match ended with fine win over division four rivals St. Cleer in the quarter final of the reserve cup. Major looked a little lethargic as they settled into their first game since early December and there were very few moments of concern for either defence in the opening stages as a youthful St. Cleer side attempted to get to grips with the heavy conditions at The Recreation Ground.

Major Manager Nigel Worrall offered debuts to Dean Dingle and Josh Turner and it was Dingle that made the first impression with his pace and work-rate, giving the division five hosts an additional option going forward. Major Captain Si Mitchell was unfortunate not to open the scoring when he rose highest to head marginally over and Mitchell was almost on the score sheet when Turner's in-swinging corner was flicked across the face of the goal with Mitchell slamming his sliding shot into the side netting.

Despite shading early encounters, Major should have fallen behind when central defender Michael Rabone failed to control a long pass that fell invitingly for lively St. Cleer striker Connor Stone to bear down on goal in acres of space; Major 'keeper Eliot Clarke narrowed the angle and Stone inexplicably sliced his effort wide of the target. Within a matter of minutes Clarke was on hand to make a smart low stop for a shot that looked destined for the bottom corner, with Rabone making amends with a last-gasp block to prevent an opener for the visitors. A goalless first half looked likely until a long throw on the left from Jamie Tipton was collected by Mitchell and turned across the face of goal, only for striker Luke Worrall to be denied by a fine diving save from the St. Cleer goalkeeper. A series of corners from Turner caused some discomfort for the away team, although Major were not able to capitalise and a compelling opening period drew to a goalless conclusion.

There was no indication to what would follow in the second half as three stunning goals and some disappointing behaviour both on and off the pitch had a significant bearing on the outcome of this cup tie.

St. Cleer squandered a great opportunity early on when a long ball fell invitingly only for the subsequent effort to be fired straight at Clarke in the Major goal and it wasn't long before the hosts finally took the lead. Major managed to hold onto the ball on the right when Adam Brenton and Paul Drinkwater played keep-ball and when a square pass fell invitingly for Simon Mitchell, there was only one thing on his mind as he unleashed a stunning left foot drive that crashed in via the crossbar with the goalkeeper looking helplessly on. Major finally looked comfortable and a quick-fire second all but secured the tie when debutant Josh Turner collected the ball on the left, beat his marker and struck an unstoppable shot from the corner of the box that swerved and dipped to sail over the goalkeeper and into the top corner.

It was perhaps a little harsh on the visitors who appeared shocked to find themselves two goals behind early in the second half and what followed was nothing short of embarrassing for the away team. When Stone launched into a challenge with a high foot, the match official, who had otherwise had very little to do in what had been an uneventful game, was in the middle of offering some words of advice when he was bizarrely subjected to some highly inappropriate language from the St. Cleer striker, who petulantly walked away only to find that he had been given his marching orders.

A lengthy delay then followed as the St. Cleer bench became embroiled in further abuse towards the match official, resulting in the St. Cleer manager being asked to leave the ground. The delay resulted in a fairly tepid conclusion to the game as Stone had appeared to be the main threat to the home side, however, the result was put beyond doubt when some neat footwork from Tipton created a yard of space to add another fine goal, opting to strike the ball early with a deft chip that arced perfectly over the unfortunate goalkeeper who had not put a foot wrong all afternoon.

A series of late substitutions took the sting out of the game and a defensive error allowed St. Cleer a late consolation. There were also some regrettable scenes after the final whistle as the referee, who did a fine job in the middle, was subjected to further abuse, although such behaviour will not overshadow a fine performance from a St. Columb team that were delighted to return with a win with three excellent goals proving to be the difference.

Major progress to the semi final where local rivals St. Mawgan await in what should be a fantastic double header.

Man of the match - Simon Mitchell

Delabole 3 Welcome Inn 5
After being unable to be there last week and the shock result. The starting 11 was changed and people were playing in different positions with Scott Sampson playing as the lone striker with Tom Pickering just behind which worked really well. We started the game off really well and scored the 1st goal from a corner toe poked in by Zak Brokenshire, the 2nd also from a corner but punched in by the goalie. 2 - nil up and with all the play there should of been more goals but as usual we let them back in the game to 2 - 2 after being unable to play the offside trap as a unit. Then 3 - 2 up after Scott getting his 1st goal we were done by a corner headed in well by the big centre half 3 all with 20 minutes to go but we never put our heads down and after Tom flicked on a header beating the goalie to the ball, Scott chased it up to tap it in 4 - 3 and then towards the end Tom Pickering wrapped it up with a great finish in off the post to make it 5 - 3. There were too many scares towards the end with players letting the ball bounce which needs to be sorted but with the players we have and when we are on the ball we are a class above anyone with slick sharp passing and movement it is good to watch. Well Played Everyone
Welcome Inn Man of the Match - Scott Sampson - great forward play topped off with 2 goals.
Donkey - Phil Roberts moaning after being subsituted ( No I in team )

Fowey United progressed to the second round of the KMD Developments Knock Out Cup, but they were given a battle by Foxhole before coming through 3-2. Luke Giles, Anthony Hillman and Josh Frampton scored for Fowey with Tom Grylls getting a brace in reply for Foxhole.

St.Columb Major reserves have secured a local derby semi-final in the Trims & Windows Reserve Team Cup after beating holders St.Cleer reserves 3-1 in their quarter-final. Simon Mitchell, Josh Turner and Jamie Tipton were the home scorer’s.

AFC St.Austell have been beaten for the first time this season and it was a vital game against Premier Division title challengers Saltash United. The first half was goalless, but from the time that the visitor’s took the lead after the restart, the home team pushed forward, but were then punished by the pace of the Saltash attackers. Saltash deservedly won three nil with goals from Lee Hawkins, Tony Jane and Josh Fedrick. Saltash now open a nine-point gap at the top albeit having played four more game. The title race is very much alive.

St.Cleer eased their relegation fears and left Calstock stranded at the bottom after winning this rearranged game 3-1. Steve Lee broke down the left and crossed for Jamie Coates to give St.Cleer a first half lead. Calstock came back into the game after the break with Mike Browne pulling them level. The fight back was short lived as St.Cleer went right up the other end and restored their lead from a Joe Cox goal. Matt Bryant added the third fifteen minutes from time.

St.Mawgan remain in danger after losing three nil at home to Lamerton.

Gunnislake picked up a point in their fight for survival in Division One after gaining a one all draw at Altarnun. The first half was end-to-end fare, but with the home team nowhere near their best. Gunnislake broke the deadlock with a good header from Scott Paskins. Altarnun were a little better after the break and eventually pulled back the deficit when Jimmy Miles headed in after a corner.

Leaders Polperro stretched their lead with their rival’s games all postponed. They beat St.Dennis 3-1 with Colin Wilson scoring a brace, which takes him to 22 for the season. Rob Bilsborough added the other home goal with Phil James pulling one back.

AFC Bodmin kept Queens Rangers pinned in the Division Two relegation spots after beating their opponents four nil. Fraser Robinson scored a brace with Mike Horne and Matt Yates adding their other goals.

Sticker were 3-1 winners at Boscastle. Alex Keast, Martin Matthews and James Edens scored their goals with Matt Pethick getting the home consolation.

Holywell/Cubert Athletic went to the top of Division Three last week, but quickly found that life at the top can be tough when beaten 4-1 at home by fellow title challengers LC Phoenix. In fact this was a closely fought game where the score line was very flattering for the visitors where either side could have won by the odd goal. Holywell’s downfall was a penalty conceded and an own goal. Matt Brookes, Harry Marsh and Nathan Cox scored for Phoenix with home left back Connor Drew getting a consolation goal.

Welcome Inn improved their position with a 5-3 win at Delabole United. Scott Sampson scored a brace with Zak Brokenshire, Tom Pickering and an own goal completing their tally. Delabole replied through Dave Barrett, Tim Harris and Keith Burnard.

Roche were beaten 2-1 at home by Camelford in an important relegation battle. Andy Geach scored the home goal, but strikes from Fergus Lessels and Craig Thompson ease Camelford clear of the bottom two.

Tregony will have to look over their shoulders after a disappointing 4-0 home reverse to St.Stephen leaves them just above the drop zone. Ian Grigg, Ross Dunn, Sam Medlin and Matt Spry were the St.Stephen marksmen.

Mevagissey reserves won the only game that survived in Division Four winning a thriller at Wadebridge by the odd goal in nine. Richard James led the way with a hat trick with Dan Kendall and Dan Brady completing their scoring. Wadebridge replied with a Francis Riddle brace and a goal apiece from Rob Centini and Jack Lawrence.

Veryan are six points clear at the top of Division Five after winning the only game played in that division. Charlie Mooney scored a hat trick and Simon Matthews added a brace in a 6-3 win at St.Minver reserves. Justin Trebilcock completed the Veryan scoring with Mike Green, Steve Wooton and Ryan Butler replying for the hosts.

Polperro 3 St Dennis 1

Deserved victory for Polperro but a much improved performance for St Dennis lots of positives to be taken from the game and really glad we got the consolation goal as I thought we deserved one!

Good luck to Polperro for the rest of the season!

It was nice just to get the game on! Pitch took a battering come the end but I think it's gone past the point of calling off games to protect pitches.

It was an entertaining game which to be fair St Dennis deserved their consolation finishing the game strong. Some good young players and your number 12 in centre mid had a great game. Good luck for the rest of the season and we'll see you at your place at sometime.

I heard that the Delabole keeper was one of the best goal keepers in Cornwall, must of been a different goal keeper for them yesterday.....

what I have seen delabole keeper is normally very good but he just had a bad day... Which can happen to the best of them, but there was no dought that was the difference in the two teams

Well a great result for us(St Stephens),we started very well our first effort on goal was by Ross Dunn who saw his effort sail over the bar after 2 minutes,we broke the deadlock after only 10 minutes when Jason Rundle sent over a high ball into the penalty area from the far right wing, that Matthew Spry met on the volley, the ball went across the keeper into the far corner ,a great goal and 4 minutes later we were 2 up when Man of the Match, Matthew Spry played a pass to Ross Dunn who slotted the ball home.we had complete control of the game and had several more chances before we got our 3rd goal of the half on 39 mins, when again a Jason Rundle cross fell to Sam Medlin in the 6 yard box he scored when he dangled out his right leg to push the ball home from close range.

The 2nd half was a messy affair with many chances and a lot of wild shooting from both teams,we had to wait until the 84th minute until we added a 4th goal a breakaway goal coming from a quick move from Kyle Wray and Rodney Rickard on the left wing, then a one two between Karl Wray and Matthew Spry further up the pitch split the defence,Kyle Wray laid the ball back for Matthew Spry to shoot but his shot was going wide until Ian Grigg our defender got hold of the ball and his shot although straight at the keeper was too powerful and all the keeper could do was to push it towards the goalpost but unluckily for him the ball went into the goal.A great display and we now look forward to a repeat performance home to Camelford next Saturday.

if he is one of the best in Cornwall then he would be playing a little higher maybe?!?

He's a lad from the village and wants to stay loyal to them which I think is commendable. From what Ive heard he's been chased by Bodmin 1st team amongst others.

Mr Morris is it? If so played a very good shot stopper and pulls off some incredible saves at times!
