Martin McHugh
At the moment we ( liskeard reserves ) have played 3 games in 11 weeks and will be playing our next game on sat 26th so that would be 4 games in 14 weeks! Jeff Stelling
West Cornwall Reserves last game was the 15th of December. Annoyingly all the fixtures that have been called off were away games, if they were at home we could have arranged to play on the astro. Will certainly be tough fitting all of these fixtures in, especially when both sides start to lose players to cricket later on in the season. There is always the chance of referees being allocated on the morning of the game, but some clubs have been calling their matches off well before this time.Have you tried calling the appointments secretary on the morning of the match if you haven’t been allocated a referee? Have you tried calling the appointments secretary on the morning of the match if you haven’t been allocated a referee? Sorry, I perhaps should have been more specific, It was only one incidence of Referee unavailability, the rest were indeed due to the lovely Cornish weather. The fixture in question I believe was either Junior or Senior Cup weekend. The St Ives Secretary had, by Friday evening, been informed of no referee's being available (and this was before the weather got really bad, so games weren't being called off that regularly), so St Ives as a club offered someone to officiate the game. The opposition agreed to this, only to change their minds at around 10.30 on the Saturday morning. Understandable but frustrating at the time

Understandable but frustrating at the time Thanks Ben - I am aware that some clubs have not followed this process and therefore called games off when in fact a referee would have been available. It is always worth a call to the appointments secretary on Saturday morning..... :-)
