Foxhole 7 v 0 Gerrans & St Mawes

Great start to the new year for the Foxes, with Jamie Robinson scoring 5, Sam Leaney & Tommy Hicks one each.

The score line could have been more but for the Gerrans keeper who saved some great shots. Credit to St Mawes who never gave up and were physical to the final whistle.

Paul Bourton Man of The Match- Jamie Robinson

Queens Rangers 0 v 2 Padstow Utd

Hard fought win for Padstow against a very strong Queens Rangers side.

Padstow had to work extremely hard to gain there first points of 2013.

A fairly even first half which the home side just edged.

Both sides fighting hard for every ball on a difficult playing surface.

O-O at halftime

Padstow came out for the second half and began to dominated but failed to find the final ball.

Finally a great ball in from Jason Olivey found Kyle Tippett who cooly directed the ball past the stranded home keeper.

6 minutes later Tippets direct free kick came back off the bar and Paul Banks was first to react and his header found the back of the net.

Padstow pressed for a 3rd but missed 3 great chances to finish off the home team.

Queens never gave up and fought hard right to the end and did cause a few anxious moments in the Padstow defence

but they did not trouble Josh Grills in the Padstow goal.

Some strange decisions in the last 15 minutes or so from the referee who up until that point had done a good job.

Padstow Man of the Match - Danny Jobson

Welcome 6 Lanivet Inn 1
After having a few weeks off without a game and everyone enjoying Xmas, todays game was a good game to get back into it and crack on this year with some good football. We started the game without a regular forward so we went with Tom and Gary as the 2 up front. Welcome started off the brighter and missed a few good chances early on but then Scott Sampson played a great ball from the back with was clinically finished off by Tom Pickering ( must of had a good nights sleep ). This was followed by a great finish by Phil Roberts playing right mid field who slammed the ball away after good build up play by Zach and Tom. The 3rd came from a corner headed in by their own centre half. The 4th came just before half time cooly finished by Gary Dunphy who started to make the right runs up front. Half time team talk was easy and everyone looked keen to crack on but we then made a couple of changes using up the subs which gave Lanivet a bit of the ball. Number 5 was again from a corner which was bouncing around in the box missed by a few players but tapped in by Gary Dunphy for his 2nd. Number 6 was from another corner headed back towards the goal and went in ( I personally think i had the last touch). Lanivet got a consolation with a good finish from their midfielder who had a decent game. Well done everybody and make sure we all continue this form into nexts week cup game.

Welcome Inn Man of the Match - Tom Pickering
Donkey - Mark Perry celebrating a phantom goal.

Duchy 1 : Grampound 4-1 St Dennis Both teams were pleased to have a game of football to play after long lay-offs although the pitch was hard work, not unexpectedly having been mostly under water about 10 days before. St Dennis fielded a player or two that had been reinstated from their SW Peninsula League side (without a game today) but could not match Grampound's passing, teamwork and drive at any stage. The first half saw Grampound have a huge proportion of possession but lacking the killer instinct to put the game out of sight. The goals, though, were top drawer. Tim Peers picked up a clearance from a corner and smashed the ball into the top corner from 25 yards before the St Dennis keeper could move and a few minutes before the break Lee Budge collected a long clearance from his own defender, outpaced the visiting defenders and finished neatly into the far corner to put the home side 2 ahead. After the break, St Dennis changed their shape and proved a little more difficult to break down but Grampound's third was the pick of the day. Neat passing gave Shane Weeks the ball just outside the St Dennis penalty area and he played a perfect 1-2 with Pete Thomas, which put him clear and able to pick his spot past Bell in the away goal. Lee Rickard always looked a threat for St Dennis, as one would expect, and he reduced the arrears with a deft finish although he was well-marshalled through the rest of the game. Pete Thomas had the last word in the game when he blasted a drive into the far corner after Budge had chased down what seemed like a lost cause and slipped the ball to the striker about 15 yards out. Grampound man-of-the-match : Jason Retallick, for a superb display against quality strikers.
