Trelawny League Results - 5th January 2013

Trelawny Premier Result:

Gwinear Churchtown 2 Carharrack 2

In a entertaining match both teams shared the spoils. Carharrack had three clear goal scoring opportunities within the first 20 minutes but failed to materialise them. The visitors were soon punished when Gwinear took a early lead after 23 minutes from a shott inside the 18 yard box. Carharrack striker James Tregay scored a equaliser shortly after on the 28th minute. The match was end to end until the referee blew for half-time. Coming out of the interval Carharrack took the lead on the 49th minute though a goal mouth scramble scored again by Tregay. Carharrack looked the more confident of the two sides but the home side didn't give up. Gwinear scored a last minute equaliser after the visitors failed to get the ball out of the danger area.

MoM: James Tregay

Trelawny Premier

Gulval 4-0 Penzance Reserves

Scrappy first half with nothing much to shout about.

Second half Penzance went deep defensivly and paid the price only shooting from long range. Gulval kept breaking on their right or lobbing the ball long down that side and scored four times. Penzance ended with 6 walking wounded as again we had no subs. Cramps and strains for four players plus a sore shoulder for another and our keeper injured.

1-0 51 mins

2-0 59 mins

3-0 71 mins

4-0 76 mins

DIV 5

CLIPPER BAR (1) 1. Knurek 36,

ST.ERME. (1). 4 Rapsey 18, 66, 77 Hill 68,

Hard game against a much improved Clipper team. Clipper hit the bar first couple of minutes and to be honest there was nothing in it for an hour. Chances missed at both ends and both keepers playing well and it wasn't until the last 25 minutes that we looked anything like it. Well done to Dave and his lads for a good clean game( apart from the mud!! ) hope you keep picking up the points mate, good bunch of lads.

Fal Ath 3 Titans 7

Always a tough place to go dracaena and some very good athletic players old and new. Number 15 up front absolute pain in the backside but always pressuring our back line and there midfield worked tirelessly. Did start to dominate after about 10 mins but could not score the all important 1st goal. After 20 mins athletic broke, got a free kick and after the first shot hit the wall the second hit the back of the net. Within a couple of minutes we shoot ourselves in the foot let them through like water down a drain pipe and it's 2-0 luckily we were on top at this time and always feel we can score and after 5 mins found the net through Adam brown who preceded to then back that up with a left foot shot for 2-2. Right on half time athletic were awarded a penalty and the lad would of been signed by ac Milan if they had a scout there as the dive was nothing short of a swan lake stroke / ashley young . Anyway ref gave it there manager also said no pen at the end but there we are:) I believe 15 took it top right good pen. Ht 3-2 second half belonged to us pretty much all one way traffic scored 3 goals in the opening 10 mins a hat trick for Adam brown mom and 2 for stu hull who's header was a peach one from jack stocker a nice free kick and Jordan Jackson with a chip finished it off. Thanks to athletic be interesting to see the others go there in the top 5 or 6 and come away with 3 Pts very tough afternoon . Thanks for after and nice to see norm so slim!!! Might go weight watchers with you. Then again might not :)

Division 2

Frogpool 3 - 2 St Ives Reserves

After last weeks derby was ruled and ruined by the weather, the St Ives lads travelled (and got lost) to Frogpool for a "Champions League Spot" clash.
Considering the recent deluges, the pitch was looking in good condition, and with no wind or rain in the air, both sets of players took the field looking forward to the 90 minutes.
With 88 and a half minutes to go, a long punt forward by The Yeti found Alex Brown, whose expert touch and flick round the corner released Andy Barry to fire in a first time cross which was met with a rocket of a finish from veteran winger Scott Goodchild (which put £15 in my pocket straight away.. ta lad). So ferocious was the strike, that it broke the goalkeeper's finger and he had to be taken off to A & E. Hope you're on the mend soon!
This early setback would shake some teams, but as most in this division know, Frogpool are great as a unit, and with a mere 86 minutes to go, they drew level when a throw-in into the box found the feet of the striker, who made our defence look like they were wading through treacle, as he turned and fired low and hard into the far corner.
With the nonsense of scoring two goals so quickly out of the way, both teams settled down into somewhat of a midfield battle, with James Worrall and Josh Curnow (who looked a much better shade of fake tan orange today after last week's Man-Flu) locking horns with Nick Lasseter and "Ten Legs". St Ives started to dictate the play for 25 minutes, but without much to show for it apart from a bit of goaline pinball from a corner, and Andy Barry hitting the corner flag with a diving header, and the cross bar with a cross (don't think his radar was fully locked in..). At the other end, Frogpool broke quickly and looked dangerous from set pieces, but they too were shy of any real goalmouth action, aside from a good effort parried by yours truly.
HT 1-1
The second half started in similar vein to the first, with both teams playing tug-o-war with possession. It was Frogpool who drew first blood though, when (I think) the same lad who got the first, found himself clear in the box after a defensive slip, and his drive at goal gave me an excellent occasion to show off my dying swan impression as it went in via my glove.
As with last week and being 2-1 down, we changed formation and personnel, with Fraser Short succumbing to a groin injury, and James Worrall succumbing to having a ball to the gonads for the third time in the match. However, we were struggling to get much in the way of goal scoring opportunities, and nearly fell further behind when a deflected effort found a lovely piece of hard, flat turf to skip off (the rarest of things in a January goalmouth), and nearly sneaked in at the far post.
Despite being behind, those in front of me always look like they can create a goal out of something, and an equaliser came with 10 minutes to go, with a ball from the right evading everyone in red and grey, bar James De Seta, who squeezed in a shot under the onrushing keeper and watched as it steamrollered towards the goal at at least 0.2mph, despite the best efforts of the defender who could only turn it off the inside of the post and further over the line. The last 10 minutes became a cagey affair, with St Ives desperately in search of a winner and a needed 3 points, but looking shakey when the ball came within touching distance of the 18 yard area. Just as it looked like it would finish 2-2 and a fair share of the points, one such shakey moment from a throw in, led to the ball skidding off Nick Strong's thigh, and the aforementioned Nick and The Yeti staring at each other wondering what to do about the white object sitting in the middle of the penalty box. Neither of us did anything useful and a Frogpool player stole in to slide the ball between the gaping chasm between my legs and into the back of the net.

All in all, I have to say we (and myself personally) are utterly gutted, but these things happen in a season and we have no excuses for the mistakes which cost us dearly today. As always, fair play to Frogpool who battled all afternoon as they always do, and they really are a great bunch of lads to play against (I say this every time in the hope that they might take pity on me and let us win when we play them next...)

Should also quickly mention that the lad who ran the line for some of the second half isn't associated directly with St Ives, and apologies for his choice of vocabulary at one point, hence the manager promptly swapping Lino's

A great right up by Ben the Yeti, the few people watching said it was a really good game to watch, which is a credit to both sides. The first St.Ives goal was a great finish and to be fair St.Ives had plenty of the ball but Frogpool were playing on the break. St.Ives number 15 was unfortunate to get a few balls in his balls and on the end of a few hard tackles , but he never moaned and got on with it. Ben you did have a great save from Neil Carters shot in the second half.

A close game and a good one to watch , we have had a 4:3 , a 2:2 , a 4:1 cup game and then 3:2 in the last four games between the two sides. Well done to Ian Jay who went in goal after bookies injury.

Frogpool scorers Shaun Smith with the first. Nick Lasseter got the second and James Ribery Reburn slid in the winner

West Cornwall 7 .v. Pool Utd 0

Our 1st game since the 17th November and absolutely delighted that it was against a team that were probably all in the gym on Christmas day! Score line doesn't lie, we were comprehensively beaten but we gave a better account of ourselves than the last time we played them. We set our shape in the first half and frustrated West Cornwall for large periods of the first half. West Cornwall were having all the chances as we found it difficult to create anything in the final third. We went in only 1 down at half time when a cross from the right fell from our 'keepers hands and was headed in on the line. We changed a few things at half time which, coupled with a lack of match fitness, didn't help! West Cornwalls' second was a decent finish from just outside the box after a scramble on the 18yd line and they quickly added a third when a shot from distance took a deflection off James Isaacs to leave our 'keeper stranded on the wrong side of the goal. A couple of sucker punches that was followed up by a poor goal to concede when a corner was headed in unchallenged. 4 nil and effectively the end of the game for us as I don't think we created anything attacking wise in the second half. West Cornwalls' other 3 goals came from a rebound off the crossbar that fell kindly for their striker, a wayward pass from us across the front of the 18yd box was finished well and another cross from the right late on saw their striker poke home from a two yards out.

Well played to West Cornwall very good side and all the best for the second half of the season, a little bit of fitness training for us on Thursday I feel! Well referee'd by a guy named Luke.

Why would we need to make changes ?
Just my opinion ,some individuals aren't good enough for the higher leagues,we were struggling with numbers yesterday and had to bring in some lads who have hardly played a game in their lives and we still scored three and gave you a game!

You have a good team and play the right way ,good luck for the season!

Div 4

St ives 2 wendron 1

Very poor performance from wendron 2 day proberly our worst of the season, didnt turn up first half struggling 2 even pass the ball 2 each other from a couple of yards (think the long christmas break really showed) but all credit 2 st ives they played well and deserved 2 go in at half time 1-0 up after there cb puttin it in from a corner. Second half was much improved from wendron, we got bk on level terms when dean stevens put in a delightful ball and keir dent put it in wid a fine header. We then went in search of the winner and had a thew chances that we shud of done better wid and st ives defended well. Then right at the end st ives nicked the ball caught us on the break and there striker scored a good goal lobbin our keeper frm 25yards out and that was that game over wid only a min left on the clock and they proberly deserved it over all. Like 2 mention the ref aswel, dnt like slaggin refs off but sum of his decisions were awful through out the game constantly being inconsistent with his decision making (if ur gonna be bad at least be consistently bad) and then 2 top it all off right at the end a st ives player shouts "leave it", keir dent turned round and said ref ur not aloud 2 say "leave it", ref said "yes u r if ur sayin it 2 ur own team mate", keir said "no u aint ref thats aload of shit" and then the ref booked keir! Nw I aint no ref but I think every1 knws u aint aloud 2 shout leave it no matter what!

However helston won this league last year and I really don't see anything to frightening in the league above considering half the league were in div 2. Helston aside because my mate le boss would here nothing less than that! Our objective is promotion always has been if this club gets up we will be happy.

You can shout leave it. But the referee will penalise if in their opinion the player verbally distracts the opponent. This should be followed by a caution for that player and an Indirect Free Kick where the offence occurred.

If thats true bighairyDave then fair enough and I can kind of understand that but on this occasion both players from opposite teams were goin 4 the ball and then a st ives player who was behind them shouted leave it, so wid both players having there bk 2 him how do they know if its a team mate or not? That was put across 2 the ref and he was havin none of it. I personally just think in a situation like that u dnt even hav 2 b a ref 2 knw that is a in-direct free kick, its the basics of refereeing in my eyes! Its only annoying because now a player has 2 pay a fine out of his own hard earned money coz of a basic decision that was pointed out 2 him that he was havin none of

The commitee would like a pitch of there own as would many pointers, but I don't think we will be leaving the cricket club just yet we have a fantastic atmosphere there win lose or draw and very nice people who run it. We moved to storms old pitch for one season last year and the facilities were top draw but it meant using the rugby club and Trevor who runs it was excellent but we never had our own space as such. We never really created an after match atmosphere as there were sometimes 8 teams in one room. So we will see what comes in the foreseable future. As already said I have spent 4 seasons in this league now and would love to push on to div 1 as winners or promoted I really don't care which ( yeh right )

you can shout leave it or whatever you like, its only if the ref thinks youve said it on purpose to gain an advantage that it becomes an infringement unsportsmanlike behaviour and it really is at the refs discretion so nothing you can do about it. secondly if your player shouted that is was a load of shit, i would just accept the yellow card and be thankful it wasnt a red. We had this ref a few weeks back. He made 2 decisions that were huge in the game and wrong against us, one when i was holding the ball at my feet, ball in play in goal to waste time and he kept stopping his watch and a penalty against us towards the end which resulted in a red card for our player. he gave what he thought he saw for the penalty so cant really argue and he pretty much admitted he made a mistake with the timewasting thing which led to first yellow and then the red card, fair play to him. I gave him a bit of a hard time in the game as i was very frustrated which is unusual for me and he is possibly a bit card happy but that the way some refs do it. This guys only young and i believe from what ive seen will be a top ref in years to come. he has all the qualities assuming its the same ref as you were allocated. im not a ref but i believe they are the "leave it" etc rules unless they have changed in the last few seasons

BHD and retired for now, exactly right, you can shout but if in the referee`s opinion it is done to distract a player then it`s unsporting conduct and should be dealt with accordingly, this also applies to just making a noise, if it`s deemed to be done to distract a player then it`s a foul.

I see all my mentoring to you is finally paying off and you are even starting to sound like me. Bet you feel really comforted that so many other successful managers are giving you free advice which must make your job so much easier!! Bet if you were in mid-table oblivion no one would want to know you - except me - so just keep beating them off with a stick mate. Come the end of the season, come to us and we will fill your league trophy up for you - where is it at the moment? Oh yeah! At ours!! Love to you Marksy and all our fans. :yahoo:

div 1 is a very hard league and not to be underestimated as i`ve found out the hard way. There seems to be a certain amount of natural adjustment in the leagues after the trelawney started. There are teams in leagues above there station and teams in leagues below there station and it seems to be panning out.We are battling to stay up in T1 and hope to see you there next season
