bole boy
With the rain not seeming to be easing up for long enough for pitches to dry, and there less matches being played every week. Do u think the season could end up being canceled, if the weather continues the way it as all year

Kash
Gona be a challenging 2nd half of the season! Im sure we can manage 3games a week its just the profesionals that struggle lol On a serious note its gona be difficult for ppl to make too many midweek games especially if youve got to travel say gwinear to newquay for a 6.15 kick off! B Manning
This is nothing new, I can remember a season where I did five games in seven days at the end of one season.
Rhondda
Our biggest headache will be finding pitches after the end of march when the cricket club want the ground back. With most teams having a backlog it will be harder to clubs to help us out as in previous seasons.

Do u think the season could end up being canceled, if the weather continues the way it as all year NO!!!! It would merely be extended. That however is very unlikely, teams will be flogged to death to finish on time. The powers do NOT like being in breach of their own rules. bole boy
No I know what u mean... If we played every sat now on we would not finish til end of April and other teams r worse off then us.. So if this weather continues for another month or so teams are going to have big problems

I cant see how were gona fit all the games in and if we do it will give advantage to the bigger clubs who have more players at their disposal for the midweek mayhem were gona get! Teams using cricket grounds has always been a bone of contention and always caused fixture congestions. Perhaps these teams should be made to play every other night at the end of the season - start late and finish early and everyone else has to suffer - can that be right. How about, where possible, matches are played as double headers or some of the cup semis and finals all played on one day - will create bigger crowds and not use up too many evenings like they do now. No reason why a ground cant hold 3 or 4 matches on one day when the weather and light is kinder or even approach the clubs that have lights and use them. I have always thought that some of the cups should be done and dusted by Xmas - cant see a reason why this has not een invoked in previous seasons. Kash
I agree with what your saying le boss, you could play double headers, think multiple games in one day would be difficult, maybe this is where rolling subs could be used as an option to keep players fresher? So if this weather continues for another month or so teams are going to have big problems Increasing the divisions from 14 to 16 hasn't helped either. This will mean four extra midweek fixtures for most teams. I preferred divisions of 14 for this reason. Seems to work well in the Duchy League. bole boy
Surely the 'powers that be' will have to apply common sense. If the rain continues for much longer, the season will have to be extended right across the leagues. Many clubs will have a serious job finding a team for three matches a week. the problem is they can't extended the season to much Cos of cricket, and there a lot of teams like us that shares the ground... retired for now
Surely the 'powers that be' will have to apply common sense. Many clubs will have a serious job finding a team for three matches a week. the problem is they can't extended the season to much Cos of cricket, and there a lot of teams like us that shares the ground... and a lot of cricketers that wont be playing football from mid april or so. our club will lose both keepers then. Just the way it is i guess. This is where the bigger clubs with lower teams start getting results and some strange results come about. Always been the same but worse now with the weather. Games are bound to be called off now with waterlogged pitches but does infuriate me when they are called off when muddy or cut up. Used to love games like that. Heres hoping the weather will improve very soon.
Kash
I stopped playing cricket partly because I couldnt commit to playing because football and cricket overlap too much, alot of the older boys hate football because it seems to eat into both ends of the cricket season! Apparently it never use to be that bad! Im not that old so I dont know lol
