Pendeen To Replace Magpies in SWPL ?

Recommended Posts

Oh Rodney, you are a tease!

It's good to see local clubs doing well. especially ones from West Cornwall.

Personally I think it will be a tough ask for Pendeen to win the Combo as they suffer from lack of strentht in depth, which probably their management and players would agree. Illogan have those extra players to fill gaps in their squad when needed as their reserve side are strong compared to Pendeens.

There seems to be a lack of good quality players in the far West at the moment as witnessed by your own team. It will take St Just, Penzance, Hayle, Mousehole, a a year or two to get a good squad together to challenge for honours again.

This is indeed an interesting thread and one thats come about since we got our 1st point away at Bovey Tracey on Saturday. Now why would there be a sudden need to to put a thread on here suggesting Penzance will get relegated. Is it one or two who thought it a certainty earlier in the season and have now seen results starting to turn getting twitchy bums?? I mean the Champions Bodmin scraped home 3-2 last week and Bovey Tracey rescued a point from us on Saturday!! I said when I came down to join Denty as his assistant we would get out of this situation and I stand by that. Ive seen a change in attitudes and a change in performances, ive seen players come to us and try it at this level and then think twice about it. For a club to go forward it sometimes has to take a step back. If that means no budget so be it. If Penzance get relegated isnt that was everyone expects............But if we stay up, and we will, what an achievement for those players that showed the balls to step up and be counted when everyone else didnt fancy it. If Pendeen do get promoted then brilliant i'll be one of the first to congratulate them they would have deserved it because as said before there are teams flashing the cash in the combo league. They have a great little squad out there who play for eachother. Thats what you want in a side. But I think everyone that has watched us recently and who is involved with Penzance can see its coming together fast. Your guna also need to look at the flood light situation at Pendeen for promotion!!!But its nice your thinking about Penzance Mr Beer, im sure there will be plenty more from you throughout the season. Good luck to all the teams down West the more teams from down that way in the Peninsular the better!!!!!!

i think this thread was rodneys idea of a wind up. theres only twelve games been played, far to early to start shouting the odds about. good start for pendeen but they no its a bloody long road to the end of the season, and they will continue to take each game as it comes without making wild predictions so early in the season.as far as their squad is concerned, they do have strength in depth and a ever improving second team they can call on. as i said early doors yet, good luck to the ever improving penzance .

Pendeen are having a great go at it and have talent throughout, but i bet if they went up they would lose a fair few players as i know as being a player there isn't many who would be keen on the travelling involved to play a slightly better standard, also we would lose our local derby which is far more important !!!!

What wind-up ? Me ?

And there was I just saying nice things about friendly neighbouring clubs. Good luck to Pendeen: it's nice to see the mantle of Penwith's most successful senior club at least staying west of North Road. I have every faith that, whatever level Pendeen climb to, they can be better ambassadors to the Pyramid sytem than Penwith has ever had before.

Be ambitious to be the best ! Onward and upward ! :)

my how people are gullable on here! Honestly do not pay any attention to this ridiculous thread it's Rodney's attempt at having a dig at Penzance and a piss take at Pendeen, jealous much? I would however like to pull Cornishteddyboy up for his comments (sorry Paul!) we have 2 teams both currently operating with squads of between15-17, how rare it is to have a 2nd team you can draw from. Anyway once again please ignore Mr Beare's attempt at a joke at the expense of everyone who took it seriously.

Cornishteddyboy to say pendeen lack strength in depth is wrong,

They had 3 players on the bench on Saturday that would walk into

Pz 1st team, so they do have depth. Pendeen have a chance this year,

But the likes of Illogan and St Day have money for players.that will count

For sure.

Think you'll find only st day are paying out the dough ( and meat hampers! ) illogan have to settle for a jug or two after the game

Crystal, I'm astounded by your imputation of such unworthy motives to me. I'm delighted to see a Pendeen side containing so many former St Just players doing well. As a patriot of the whole area, including north St Just, I was actually about to send down a donation but would hate it to be misinterpreted. I do hope your apparent lack of ambition won't hold back the club. Without discoursing on your club history at length, Pendeen's players have been sold desperately short by predecessors of limited vision in the past. I hope it won't happen again. I'm sure the good people of Pendeen won't let it happen.

It's spelt "Beer", by the way; as in the liquid substance with which I can see you are far more familiar than you can possibly be with me in person.

My compliments to all at Lower Boscawell. :c:

Oh Rodney!!!! Thank god 99% of people on here know you, because if they didn't they would take this as a sincere and gracious post.

No war declared or implied, Krystle: nothing but congratulatory greetings to your players and manager on their excellent start. If you pm me the address of a serious officer of your club, the donation will be forthcoming.

As you rightly imply, Cam, 99% of readers may find such a response to congratulation from a supporter of a good neighbour club perplexingly churlish. I appreciate that the lady is beyond the benison of polish and this characterises her charm. I wish her well, along with the rest of the club. I hope the Tinners can do you a favour at Illogan.

Apologies for my typograohical, albeit apparently orthographical, misrepresentation of Lower Boscaswell. Trewellard, Botallack, Carnyorth, Bojewyan and Lower Boscaswell all fall within the territory of the People's Socialist Republic of St Just. Without them, I am sure the subsidy of our commonweal from the public purse of the English would decline substantially; and our electoral mandate would be weakened. We need Pendeen !

Well said Rodney - crystal you 'may' be surprised - but, don't hold your breath for that cheque ! Joking aside, as currently the official at St Just AFC who collects the gate money on match days, I have been pleasantly surprised at the generosity of some visiting team supporters. We charge £2 entrance for 1st team games and the number of times some visitors have put in a fiver and not wanted change, has been both surprising and uplifting. The last time this happened about two weeks ago, the cheerful visitor replied to my grateful 'thank you sir' with, 'you're very welcome - I know how much it costs to run a club these days' !

There are still a lot of nice, football loving people out there who want the game to both survive and thrive. Bless em !!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thankyou Keith B, I have done that many times myself. The cost of running football teams today is truly frightening.

Pity players did not appreciate it.

I can assure u no players are paid! A couple of jugs of beer after the game yes, unless they didn't play well lol, speaks for itself with all players just paid out of their own pockets for new club tracksuits. Players play for illogan as we run the club the right way with passionate people, good back room staff, all 3 teams, management and players all work well together, makes for a good combination, money leads to trouble hence why we wouldn't go down that route, plus we know players play for us got the right reasons, no pounds being flashed to encourage!

I like the sound of that, paid with beer - good one.

There's nothing best playing for ur local team with ur mates and having a few drinks after the game. I'm sure most players would agree . A lot of towns in the sw have decent players who can compete in whatever division but are spoiled by money and managers who are to clicky! Get ur locals in and treat them right and u will see the rewards . I.e godolphin , Helston etc players playing for there club
