The hosts were playing their first league game at home and made a solid start in search of their first points of the season, although there was very little to concern Major goalkeeper Eliot Clarke in the opening 45 minutes. Major looked disjointed and had to settle for the occasional moment of flair that had projected the newly assembled team to the top of the division; whilst Boscastle demonstrated desire, the long grass and heavy pitch meant that moments of quality were few and far between. Thankfully Major captain Jamie Tipton intervened, chesting down a cross field pass, smashing an outrageous half volley into the top corner from twenty five yards when clean through on goal for an early goal of the season contender. Major were in the ascendency and it didn't take long before the second goal came along; Luke Worrall whipped in a neat corner from the left and defender Craig Hayes rose highest to head home from close range. Whilst it wasn't the prettiest football, the visitors are making a knack of effectively taking control of games even if they are not at their best. Despite enjoying some pressure late on, Boscastle were unable to breach a relatively solid looking Major defence and Luke Worrall was denied in the closing minutes when his swirling long range strike was clawed away by the Boscastle goalkeeper for the save of the game. There was still time for two late opportunities for both sides; a half-chance went begging for the hosts when a cross flashed across Clarke's goal without being converted and Tipton appeared to be clattered from behind when through on goal, with the match official indicating that the ball had been won with a goal kick awarded as a consequence. The second half was a poor advert for Duchy football. Posted October 20, 2012 Report Share Posted October 20, 2012 Duchy 1 Polperro 2-0 Looe Wilson 2 (1pen) Despite a strong start for Looe and our inability to match their workrate during the 1st half, we did manage to create a few openings and we went in at the break 1 up after a blatant push gave us our pen. We were a lot better in the 2nd half and it was a bit more evenly matched, although Looe did manage to create a few more openings. With about 10 minutes to go Colin Wilson wrapped up the points, when put through on goal he first tried to chip the advancing Aaron Rix in the Looe goal who managed to get a hand to it. However the ball dropped back to Wilson who put the ball in the empty net. In the final minute I gave away a penalty after making a save at the feet of the Looe player who had found space in our area. I must admit that I did catch him but only after I'd made the save and the ball had gone out for a corner, I saw it that both our momentum took us into the collision but there you go. I guessed right though and although Matt Barton's pen was well struck, I kept it out and we kept our 2nd league clean sheet in a row. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bit surprised to find that fixtures are being played with no showers or toilet facilities. A collective sigh of relief from the anti-shower brigade! One very interesting observation from today's game. Two red cards - both needless and deserved - in a game without a single booking and in truth very few fouls (well, ones that were given anyway!) At the end of the game the match official approaches the red-carded player from the home team and tells him that he won't be sending in the red card. Although certainly not something that the individual involved had any influence over, this kind of behaviour makes a mockery of having a process in place for dealing with the kind of conduct that makes rubbish games like this afternoon even worse. The task was even harder when a goal bound shot was saved by the hand of an outfield player, the ref had little choice but to show red a give the penalty, this was dispatched with confidance by Ben Beesley. 2 nil and 10 man Roche defened doggedly for a good while, with hal-time approaching Chris Simmons delivered the killer blow with Minvers 3rd. Minver gave nothing away at the back, the midfield to use one of the Roache players words "we were chacing shadows". There was little Roache could do Further goals from Ben Beesley, Jason Northcott, Joe Robinson & Richard Simmons sealed a workman like game for Minver. New Forest Posted October 21, 2012 Report Share Posted October 21, 2012 Padstow 1 Sticker 0 A very entertaining game at Jury Park between 2 evenly matched teams. Nothing in it for the first 15 minutes with both defences on top. Padstow finally brought a save out of the Sticker keeper, Ryan Holland, when he dealt really well with a dangerous cross from Russell McOwen on the Padstow left. Neither team could find the final pass but the game flowed from end to end. Padstow took the lead right on halftime when the away defence tried to play the ball out from the back but Holland was closed down really well by Russell McOwen and the ball fell for Simon Press who coolly finished with his right foot. A nice way to celebrate his birthday! The second half started with Padstow looking for a second and Holland made 2 superb saves from Johnny Murt plus a last gasp clearance off the line from Press. Sticker were however still very much in the game and they were creating problems for the Padstow back 4, superbly led by Man of the Match Dave Trestain. Both sides tired as the game went on due to the very fast pace of play. It was end to end stuff! Sticker looked likely to equalise only to be denied by a great last ditch challenge from Jason Olivey. Sticker had a shout for a penalty but the ref turned down there appeal, on anther day it could quite easily have gone Stickers way! A really good advert for Duchy football. The game was played in the right spirit, no bad challenges that I can recall & some good football played by both teams. Padstow happy with the 3 points. On today's performance both teams will be in the mix come the end of the season. It was good to see the Sticker lads enjoying the food back at the Social club. From a free kick near the half way line Ryan Polmounter saw his long ball slip through the keepers hands and into the net. A further fortuitous goal from Ryan P gave the home side a little breathing space but the scoring didn't stop there. Chris Symon completed his hat trick with an excellent finish past the visiting keeper and in the last 10 minutes Alternun scored 2 more goals to bring the final score to 7-5. Nothing against St Newlyn East - just making a point. Your right the 1st team didnt have a game. But as the last post stated the 2's have bought some new faces in and have a squad now. We could of played some 1st teamers but didnt as the 2's are heading in the right direction under new management and the 1st team boys didnt want to upset the 2nds by walking straight into the team. Only 1 player from the 1st team played and that was Ryan Polmounter as he needed game time after being out for a month this season already through injury. Disappointing stuff. just in reply about our changing rooms we have over the past 5 yrs been trying to get our changing rooms done but due and various amount of legal stuff and not being able to get funding due to not owning our pitch we have this year finally managed to do it but as the work is not complete,this is due to certain hierachy changing our plans at last minute and putting the build behind and as both teams for the 1st 2 month have played away thanks to the league being very helpful to us we pretty much had to play at home last week so sorry you did get a shower but i have played for boscastle about 22yrs now and we have always supplied a dry changing room and showers in this time so hopefully in the next 2 weeks we should be complete and have our brand new changing rooms up and running Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Stunning goal. would like to say i wasn't at the game this week due to being on holiday but boscastle res were very under strength due to having 5 key players out and having 1 called up to the 1st team last minute so the result for us is quite a good 3-1 which from our manager said was a fair result due to boscastle having to play several players out of position and having three 45+ yr old in the team and having to play a more defensive game than our normal one will look forward to the game down there and hope we have our full side out make a better game hopefully !! In the last few weeks we've got in 1 or 2 new faces, and changed a few other things around e.g. training organisation etc and the difference is really showing already. Bit surprised to find that fixtures are being played with no showers or toilet facilities. A collective sigh of relief from the anti-shower brigade! One very interesting observation from today's game. Two red cards - both needless and deserved - in a game without a single booking and in truth very few fouls (well, ones that were given anyway!) At the end of the game the match official approaches the red-carded player from the home team and tells him that he won't be sending in the red card. Although certainly not something that the individual involved had any influence over, this kind of behaviour makes a mockery of having a process in place for dealing with the kind of conduct that makes rubbish games like this afternoon even worse.
