St Blazey v Tavistock - Wed.3rd October k.o. 7.30pm

St Blazey 4 - 0 Tavistock

An excellent win for St Blazey, but the scoreline doesn't really tell the story of the match. Tavistock had the majority of the possession and looked a strong, physical side. They played possession football and looked to close St Blazey down throughout the game, a tactic that possibly backfired a little as it left players out of position and prompted St Blazey to exploit the space and play quick touches. For all of Tavistock's possession they didn't create all that many clear cut chances as the St Blazey defence sat back and soaked the pressure. Tavistock played a high defensive line and this allowed St Blazey to hit them on the counter, and they hit them hard, three of the goals all coming from counter attacks. All in all a totally different performance by St Blazey from Saturday, where they totally dominated Elburton but just could not find the net often enough and eventually let the home side back into the game.

Tavistock impressed tonight and if they could have just created better chances in front of goal this might have been quite a different result. They are certainly a force this season.
