Culdrose 1 - 1 perranwell

Att: 20

Perranwell dominated the whole game went 1-0 down from a under hit back pass that the culdrose striker finished well

Perranwell scored with 2 to play Matt rose with a diving header to salvage a point!

Perranwell deserved the win but all credit to culdrose for defending strongly especially their keeper who had a blinder!

No mention regarding the worst playing surface ever witnessed and played on, resulting in the only tatics possible ----smash the ball as hard and long as you can! The grass on the pitch was at least 15cm thick grass which resulted to no real decent football being played at all as it was impossible, all passes would fall considerably short and any dribble/control of the ball would cause the player tripping over the ball caught in the grass. A real shame to a ‘potentially’ very good pitch, all that is needed is a lawnmower!

thats awful, senior football and they couldnt get the lawnmower out! tut tut..

It'll probably be put down to government cuts, or that the matelows didn't have enough free time to get it done, or that the season cam quicker than they envisaged (oh no, they are already permitted a late start to the season due to work circumstances etc)....

In fairness, having played at Culdrose many times, the grass pitches are usually fine, so hopefully this will already be sorted, now all we have to worry about is the wind! Oh and in my case, if the said pitch has a bench...

Good luck to Callum George, a nice lad and a cracking footballer. I appreciate that the Cornwall Youth manager is helping out at Penzance and has no intention of behaving in the historical fashion of Penzance, time after time, flahing the cash amd making illegal approaches in the style of CTB's earlier invitation. Those of us who remember the manner of the departure of Mr Burgess and 14 players at the turn of the century know exactly how Penzance have operated in the past.

The darkest hour preceded the dawn. After a year when we were saved from relegation by Ryan Holland touching an Illogan shot against the post, Steve Curnow took the Tinners to two Combo cups amd eight top six finishes including a runners-up slot. In retrospect, Penzance did us an accidental favour.

The complacent, arrogant way in which Penzance treated West Penwith football for years, with John Mead as an honourable exception, does make the sentimenal gush of the *plunder-every-other-club-to-save-the-council-pitch-Napoleons" tendency even more vomit-inducing. I wonder why Mr Deacon and a few other contributors to the site were silent when the Burgess departure could have shut down the Tinners. I despise moral inconsistency, especially when it goes hand in hand with censorship.

None of this reflects on Callum at all. Thanks for a great contribution to St Just and see you again when the Pies find a peasant Heaney substitute and ditch all the local boys for a few Plymouthan mercenaries as usual.
