Illogan 3-1 Carharrack

Goals from simon carter, gareth pitt and jason buckley... Golden oldies.

Not a great performance but 3 points and puts us off to a great start. They went 1-0 up caused by our mistake.. we were under a lot pressure but managed to concede no more and ended up getting a goal of our own. good finish si. Second goal came from gareth pitt after a great pass from shaun carter. Another good finish. Then the third when Jason Bucks was put in on goal by rob bray.. good running and good finish.

Great start fellas keep it up.

All the best Carharrack - never gave up.

Ah right, anyone from division four played any matches?

Oh dear not had the phone call tiempo. Only joking tiempo I'm sure you'll be starting later than most, you play cricket or not!? Is that why you haven't played? To be honest the weather that's been in Cornwall has been so bad it's good that you haven't as it would have cut you're surface up if you'd played 3 or 4 on it in this rain lately. Good luck with youre season

All the best Carharrack - never gave up.

In a very windy game which dictated both halfs carharrack started well by applying pressure on the illogan defence but illogan had two early chances but carharrack goalkeeper Adam Matthews with made good blocks, after 20 minutes carharrack started to apply good pressure and Jamie Mitchell was one on one with the illogan goalkeeper Shaun Carter who saved very well to keep illogan in it, he also made a good save to deny Gareth Charles. illogan could have went 1-0 up but simon Carter headed over from a inswinging corner which he should have scored but Carharrack broke the deadlock after half an hour where Jamie Mitchell crossed the ball which Carter managed to stop going in the goal but the attempted clearance hit Liam Bray in the face and trickled into the net. Just before half time Simon Carter levelled the scores after a illogan throw went straight to carter and he buried it in the bottom corner offf the post.

1-1 HT

Second Half

Illogan dominated the second half from start to finish they started very lively creating chances, Carharrack counter attacked on occasions but never really threatened on the 60th minute carharrack conceded a free kick just inside there own half which was whipped in by the left back and Gareth Pitt got ahead of his marker and gave illogan the lead with a good finish. Carhaarck tried coming back Shaun Carter made a routine save to deny Jamie Mitchell. Carharrack didn't look like scoring, Illogan got a third from good play by illogan and us failing to clear our lines and jason buckley slotted it in the corner.

Overall Illogan deserved the win but carharrack threatened and if took chance could have been different story but wasn't to be.

29th August 2012

Penzance Reserves 0-4 Gwinear Churchtown

This was a much more even game that the scoreline suggests and if Penzance had taken all their chances could have probably forced a draw.

As early as the first minute Gwinear showed they had come to attack when a high lob into the box is headed just over the bar.

Down the other end Penzance break right to left before putting in a cross which is volleyed just wide of the post.

The game settles down with each side getting bogged down in the final third of the pitch until the 19th minute when Gwinear break left for them to cross into the box. A low shot is blocked by the keeper but Gwinear following up knock in the 6yd rebound to go one up.

Penzance break left and into the box, reaching the goal-line. A pass flashes across the front of goal and is headed back in but the ball is headed off the line.

5mins to half-time and Gwinear double their lead. A quick break down the right, a low cross and shot from 6yds beats the defence who had been pushing forward looking for the equaliser.

A third almost goes in when the Magpies lose the ball on mid-way. A quick darting run and a 30yd screamer bounces off the bar and away to safety.

H-T

The second half is a much more even affair but again the Magpies are guilty of wasting several good chances to get on the scoresheet.

Once again pushing forward, Penzance are again caught with a quick break leaving the keeper 2 on 1. He comes out to block but a forward pass past him allows Gwinear to score from 15yds into an open net. Was it offside? It's not given so it stands at 0-3 after 68mins.

Penzance gain the ball in mid-field, they knock it forward, shoot, the keeper makes a grab, it bounces off him but away to safety..

Gwinear break on their right, cross to the back post where a free header bounces off the post and away.

With a minute left on the clock a long ball by Gwinear beats the defensive line of the Magpies and the runner whips through to push a low shot into the net past the stranded keeper making the final score 0-4

Corners: Penzance 4-7 Gwinear

Fouls conceded: Penzance 7-8 Gwinear

Attendance: 56
