Eddy opened the scoring inside three minutes after rounding Turner, and, following the softest of free-kicks awarded against Boyle, Howlett headed in the second four minutes later. The Foxes managed to hold out until the thirty-second minute when Thomson swept home from close range, only to rapidly concede three more by the forty-first minute, through long range efforts from Thirkle, Dan Stidwell and Goldsworthy.

Young made it 7-0 seven minutes into the second half, before Goldsworthy's low centre on sixty-five was turned into his own net by the unfortunate Boyle. Four minutes later, Goldsworthy seized upon Turner's poor goal kick to set up Eddy for a tap in. Eighteen minutes from time Goldsworthy smashed the tenth into the corner, and soon completed his hat trick from Eddy's assist. Two further own goals, from Kellow and Robins, seven and two minutes from time respectively, concluded the rout.
