cornish leg end Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 who do people think are the teams to keep an eye out for this year? any good signings for teams?
phoenix Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 Having been soundly beaten by Biscovey in the cup final last season, I would imagine (assuming they more or less have the same squad) they ought to be very successful in Duchy 1.
cornish leg end Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 where do you se yourself being this year? what league are you in?
phoenix Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 Duchy 3- LC Phoenix (we got promoted last season). It's difficult to call. We'd like a top 4 finish. Some ins and outs pre-season and a more challenging league doesn't guarantee this though. Not sure on how other teams have shaped up in Duchy 3 over the pre-season period but Calstock and Stoke Climsland (who came up with us) had decent squads last year and Roche were a top 4 Duchy 3 team last season. Camelford have apparently strengthened too, and Lanivet Inn (who won Duchy 5 two years ago) could be useful.

Management our still sorting players into teams but as the 1st team don't have a game for a few weeks the 2nd team will be the majority of last years team with replacements for players lost or cricketing. Once the sides split i can't see the 2nd team being as good as last years as half will be 1st team. Shame really as the side was getting better each season since being created 2 years ago.

That's a shame for you in the mid term, but your 'old' second team are real fighters who can also play the game too. Duchy Prem will obviously be a steep learning curve but it ought to strenghten and improve the younger players (of which there are a few) from your 'old' second team. Best of luck with the 'new' seconds and firsts...
phoenix Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 St Minver are one to watch in Duchy 3. Yes, I've heard that as well. Some very good players capable of upsetting all sorts of teams.
