perranporth vets hold out for a draw

Recommended Posts

this morning perranporths reserves played perranporth vets. The game was played in a good spirit for once. The reserves took the lead with a dan lord strike only to be cancelled out by a sublime fluke of a goal from first team manager M.Lane...it was definately a fluke. The reserves played some very good football testing the fitness of the over 35`s and amazingly went 2-1 down to a terry ansell scuff of a shot that went through the legs of several players before trickling into the far corner.Despite being under the cosh the vets managed yet another goal to take the tie to 3-1 and this time the goal was so memorable i can`t remember who scored it!.The reserves showed their bouncebackability with a superb colin wheeler top corner finish and the pressure was all on the vets. Another piece of subliminal skill from colin wheeler saw his intricate run end in a hard and low drilled cross which soon to be vet shaun clements finished with ease.3-3 led to a fun bout of penalties which the old boys edged with their experience.

All in all a very good game played in the right spirit.

Best player on the pitch by far was reserves manager S.Wilson who rolled back the years to show the youngsters how its done :)
