Newquay AFC 2 v 1 Hallen FC (Western Premier Division)

Musa Sabo & Luke Weldhen with Newquays goals after going 0-1 down, all goals in first half. Still a few players out injured, on holiday or at work but those that played, did themselves and the club proud. Great to see youngsters such as Jack Bray-Evans and Cameron Bidgood getting their chances to impress, same with 'Keeper Sam Trudgian who gets better game by game.

Next up, Godolphin Atlantic make the short trip across town on Tues 31st Aug, 7.30pm - Admission £3 / £1.50 - This is the 2nd of Newquays Brian Biggin Memorial Trophy games, Wadebridge were beaten 2-0 last Tues Eve.

Well done Torpoint today. You have a really good East Cornwall team there and I would expect you to be front runners for trophies again this season.

Felt we gifted you the goals. Quick corner which you took good advantage of with looping ball to back post and simple tap in for the 1st, but we never reacted and didn't apply any pressure to the lad who put the cross in (he had time to tie his laces before even considering the cross) and 2nd a mix up between Beman in goal and Glendenning guarding the front post. Neither dealt with it and in the mix up the ball skimmed off Matty's head and into his own net.

Clearly need to do some work on defending corners . . . . lol.

Cracking free kick from Hooky for our consolation. Bent in top corner from 20 yards.

Pushed for the equaliser but wasn't to be.

Well done Torpoint and best of luck to you for next season . . . .

Returning the favour Nick after Argyle hosted you last season

We played Plymouth Argyle twice last season.....

Pre-season we lost 1-3 at Haye Road and also lost 3-2 at Home Park in the St Lukes Bowl Q/F.....

This game was arranged for the opening of our floodlights but unfortunately that has had to be delayed.....

We'll get there though and hope it's 3rd time lucky against 'The Pilgrims' on Wednesday.

Three blistering shots into top corners from way outside the area + two penalties gave Falmouth a somewhat flattering though well-deserved victory.

Mixed feelings yesterday - highly elated when Helen Glover (a former pupil of mine) won Olympic Gold and expressed her pride at representing the town of Penzance; obviously not a characteristic shared by all in the football fraternity!

A few former Penzance players in the Falmouth line-up.

I wish John and all associated with Penzance FC all the very best in their quest to continue in the two leagues in which they are entered. This is probably rock bottom and now hopefully the only way is upwards.
