Xembla
It was nice listening to BBC Cornwall with Dave Deacon, Ken Reed, Tom Trust -- I think I'm forgetting someone? The reports and by-play were informative and entertaining. Off to a good start! Where's the reportage coming from next week?
Tom Trust
Thanks, Xembla. Emma got us to (try to) be extra slick with our hand-overs today, handing over to one another. What did you think? Ross Ellis is the "missing" guy - he was producing the programme and doing the job normally done by at least 2 people in their absence. The plan is, as I understand it, he will soon be out reporting again. Ross will no doubt confirm. Informal unconfirmed gigs next Saturday are me at Truro, Dave at Falmouth and Ken possibly at Liskeard (though he wasn't in the studio when we were talking about it). None of that's official, mind. Except that Ross will be studio-bound again, supporting Emma. Ordered any more Saffron cake lately? Enjoying the Beckham invasion?
cornishteddyboy
Why not have someone at a SWPL Div 1 West game and not concentrate on the Premier League so much. Remember there only 8 Cornish teams in the Premier Division but 15 in Div 1 West and it will be their opening weekend. Find a Div 1 West ground to report from and give that Division a boost and not think of the "big boys" all the time.
Magic Mike
very good point! the SWP has 3 leagues in it and 2 of them have ornish teams so over those two maybe alternately each week??

BUT THEN NEW MANAGEMENT AGAIN. Chairman, I thought better of you. It may suprise you to know that a large number of people follow local cricket, football isn't the be all and end all of sport in cornwall. As I understand it, apart from Truro, all Cornish football is still in pre season so why should it have better coverage than a sport that is in competative action? Wherever you'll be next week, I'm sure it'll be worth a listen. On the last two points: I've tried ordering more saffron cakes, but Crowe's website has been "baking" all summer! Re: Beckham; I couldn't give a toss. I'm not a Galaxy fan; I support Kansas City! I don't think American soccer needs a savior, but it would be nice if the int'l calibre US players stayed here to build up the league. Anyway, roll on next week! You miss the point how precious Dave's 30 Minutes are in the Sea of Rugby,Surfing,Cricket and other inconsequential frivolities. Also,of course,it was the start of the new SW Peninsula League, with lots of interest.

Ken Reed
Dave, Tom, Ross and I were at a meeting with the new BBC Radio Cornwall Sports presenter Emma Vardy last Thursday and we all agreed that we would visit and report from SWPL Division 1 West games as often as we could. As you will appreciate, we couldn't do that yesterday because there were no games played in the Division 1 West and next week sees local teams involved in the FA Cup - who doesn't want to be involved in the best cup competition in the World? Attendance at local fixtures isn't normally decided until a few days prior to the games so please bear with us, we will get there. :yahoo:
Guest Peppermint
How selfish Mr Chairman and I have to agree with Truropaul that there a great number of Radio Cornwall listeners who like to know the cricket scores. You had match commentary all afternoon along with cricket updates and other sports news. Football and Rugby have their own half hour slots so why begrudge cricket fans, and there is a lot in the County, their share of reports. As the cricket matches are not going to finish before the end of the programme then people like to know the up to date scores before the sports programme goes off air. It is now reaching the climax of the season so do not begrudge the cricket fans their share becuase after all the football and rugby season is far longer. Magic Mike
be honest most cricket leagues are not an accurate refletion of how the 2007 season has gone due to so many mathes being called of and points shared or matches abandoned and points shared coz of the weather!
