Tottenham Legend.

So you are putting this player in the same category as Martin Chivers, Jimmy Greaves, Pat Jennings, Steve Perryman, Glenn Hoddle, Dave Mackay, Mike England, Ossie Ardiles, Alan Gilzean, Danny Blanchflower, Alan Mullery, Mike England, Cyril Knowles, Ralph Coates, Martin Peters, Joe Kinnear, Graham Roberts, Chris Hughton, Gary Mabbut, Gary Stevens, Chris Waddle, Teddy Sheringham and many more. The guy hardly played for the Club, should have retired a couple of years ago. In a couple if years time he will be forgotten, unlike the players named above.

Excellent post, alot of my friends are spurs supporters, and i inwardly laugh when they go on about Ledley King being awesome!! An insult to the names listed above

Im not going to bother with these .

Somersetspur..... Question....... 1. Why make a statement, and refrain from backing it up?. 2. Please define what you think 'legend' means.

These questions are not intended to antagonise in anyway, and i am not here to wind people up. I am genuinely interested in peoples opinions on players/clubs etc.

everyone has there own opinion, i am sure that all clubs have legends that there fans agree with but others do not. as for king he will go down as a club legend, he stayed with the club all his career and even through the injuries played outstanding. also a legend off the pitch with his work in the community. I think we can all agree that if we had more players with his attitude football would be a better game.club legend yes, football legend probably not but if he didnt get that injury so early in his career i believe he could have been one of the best ever( get ready for replys to that). I have to agree that he was right to retire as he didnt have the legs at the end of the season.

In all fairness to Bale, he was injured at the time of selection/training camp. If he stays with Spurs on their tour, they can at least moderate his playing time, fitness etc.

If he stayed with team GB he would of been flogged to death and probably injured for the start of their new season. I know which i would rather if i was a club manager!!

Amusing to hear that Cornwall is still full of references to the fourth best team in London. Mo wonder the Anglo-Saxons overran us. Hysterically, you even waste money on poor little AVB. First thing he does is fall out with Modric: no idea how to deal with genius.

Why don't you back winners, who wear blue ?

Delighted to get back on to the website to proclaim the magnificence of the European champions' victory in Munich and to wish Spurs a few paydays in the midweek euro pub league to which this consigned them....they need the cash.

Has anybody invited Redknapp to take over Penzance ?

Yes, the leader and legend who showed your Lesley Queen the true value of a Number 26 will be back, having single-handedly saved the sad little province over the Tamar from utter embarrassment in the Ukraine. Having been cleared of any wrongdoing by the province's courts, a province that allegedly adheres to the rule of law, Bernstein's even sadder little FA wants a second trial. Pathetic.

Moral high ground from the lilywhite club of Red Knacks, David Pleat and the cradle of the riots ! Ha ha !

John Terry deserves an MBE. He is the captain of the European Chamipons and you are playing the likes of Donegal St Patrick's and Novosibirsk Reserves in a pub competition. Show some respect.

Yes, he'll be back. So am I !!! :yahoo: :yahoo:

I have been transmitting the poetic majesty of the beautiful game exhibited at Lafrowda Park, St Just, flavoured with the occasional literary allusion, to audiences in locations as diverse as Kettering, Croydon, Erith, Stroud, Gwithian and Swindon. I particularly admire JT, Captain, Leader, Legend, mot only because he is sacred to us bluenoses, but because his philosophy so clearly echoes all that has always been best in the spirit of St Just. My o :c: ther icons include the scorpion-kicking Colombian goalkeeper, Stuart Pearce, Norman Hunter, Randall the Butcher, Julian Dicks, Rattin, Joey Barton, Craig Bellamy, Neil Curnow, Di Canio and Duncan Disorderly Ferguson. (Subs: Chopper Harris, Peter Storey, Vinny Jones, John Fashanu, Joe Jordan, Dennis Wise). Managers: Tony Pulis and Steve Curnow. Linesman: Me.

They would all be in my subbuteo team, certainly. :D

In trying to second-guess the courts, the FA will need a ton of legal advice before opening their amateur traps. For the geniuses who appointed Erikson and Capello and paid them millions by mistake and then destabilised Spurs by linking Red Knacks with the England job before appointing Woy,how much do you think that might cost ? It's all paid for by the grass roots !

Whatever Spurfet may think of John Terry, we probably agree about the FA. If they hadn't destabilised Spurs, we might have been knocking some other minor side out of the Champions leaue into pub football, e.g. Arsenal. Shame.

100% of London teams ever to become Champions of Europe wear blue.

  • 2 weeks later...

Im usually quite upbeat going into a new season.

With less than a week to go,Im a little concerned for AVB.

The Transfer window started well, with Vertonghen and Sigurdsson coming in.

But its looking a bit worrying.

Modric is a problem.Making him stay seem mad.Let him go,and get a replacement.

Defoe.I like him,but he is our only striker. We need two more.

Goalkeepers. If we dont sign one ,we will have to rely on 41 year old Friedal.

If Levy is going to wait until the last minutes of the Window to sort out these problems.

I can only see a sticky start for AVB,until the new players settle in.

With the current squad as it is,its TOP 6.

Couple of new signings, and it could be Champions League.

i remember sol going to arsenal and all the " a new King is born" and " long live the King".As a spurs fan i have suffered many years but one of the leading lights this past decade has been knowing that " the king" was , is and will always be a legend.I don`t think i`ve had so much praise for a spurs player since Ginola

Poor little AVB. Bet he won't last the year. It's the way he crouches down all the time like those poor prisoners at Abu Ghraib:it doesn't inspire confidence. I have always thought Spurs' greatest, most characteristic player was Darren Anderton. He may even have been playing last time you won at the Bridge: we were only just getting used to that young Margaret Thatcher character in power and I think George Eastham had retired. Never mind, the Premiership needs what used to be called the Bronze Fixtures, against the teams who make up the numbers. Winning isn't everything, plucky little Tottenham ! Keep trying your very best. Remember the Olympic spirit !

Better a Russian than some Yanks bleeding the club dry, or Arabs looking for a passport or using the club as a plaything.

Roman has put his money where his mouth is, obviously in it for the long haul and apart from the Jose mistake, he has done everything he can to make Chelsea a club up with the best in the World on and off the pitch.

Back to the actual title of the thread, as long as they have Arsenal as neighbours, everyday will be a bad day for the spuds, the poor relations of North London. Perhaps that is why they wanted the Olympic Stadium, to be the biggest team in East London.

Yes, but I have always been a fond supporter of the hammer and sickle, theolderigetthebetteriwas ! My only regret is that state capitalism has corrupted Roamn and the other fine idealists. However, I am delighted that he has disrupted the American-Saudi oil-chasing, cicilian-bombing consensus by his charitable efforts for the Blues. Professional players are happy to accept money wherever it comes from.

As for your assumption that the word "crook" carries some opprobrium for me, you clearly are not aware of my history as founding Presidente of The People's Socialist Republic of St Just; financial, psychological, political and moral support for Steve's Emerald Army; honorary membership of the St Just Woad Brotherhood; role in the ceremonial dedication of Headbutt Corner; undefeated advocacy record on behalf of the People's Republic at hearings of the CCFA disciplinary committee; and public reputation as the finest linesman ever to grce the Jolly's Cornwall Combination League (Subbuteo division).

While agreeing with the substance of your argument, Nemesis, I have to disagree on one point. Despite lacking my arrogance and dress sense, Jose Mourinho is one of my role models. If only he had been able to see the Beautiful Game as it played at Lafrowda Park earlier in his career, by the likes of the Butcher of Boswedden, his coaching would have had an added dimension. Rather than a mere genius h would have become a deity.

I Will tell you blinded spurs fans the truth. Ledley is far from a legend. The only reason he stayed at one club is no one else would take him as he would fail his medical every time.

SOL CAMPBELL WAS A MUCH BETTER PLAYER AND DESERVES MORE RESPECT THAN LEDLEY FOR HIS PERFORMANCES ON THE PITCH

God wears " Roy Keane" pyjamas. FACT.

Question... How can you be the best in Europe if your not even the best club in your own country?.

No-body knows what God wears! and he certainly would not wear a thugs colours. Roy Keane was a good player and for a while maybe the best in the world.

However, Bryan Robson was a better player and was definately the best player in the world for quite a long time.

If you can go back to the 60s Spurs were the team of the moment, things change and now ManU will have a turn, Liverpool before that and so on. However at the moment Spurs supporters are having a nice time lording it over trophyless Arsenal, although they managed to finish higher last term maybe some things are about to change. Losing VP will cost them dear as last year they were a one man team with his goals. Good signing for you though.

Read Donne, "older": Poetry and sermons can come from the same source. God's Old Testament record suggests quite a lot in common with Keane, actually. Good to see the old thugs buying Robbing just he he goes over the hill like Berbatov. Shame obody on the New York Stock Exchange has ever heard of Man Ure since Bush closed his mouth.

Wenger's no fool: he runs a selling club just like Dario Gradi ran Crewe. AVB suits Spurs, nice young people who will never win anything. After the embarrassing ease of our 5-1 FA Cup semi-final win I wished Cechy would give them a goal. just to choke back their tears.

Don't mind losing to a good side like Manchester City, but the rest of the Premiership can't lace the European Champions'boots.
