MOUNTAINEER
The Conference South have released their fixtures today, the first game is on Saturday 18th August 2012, this sees TRURO CITY travelling to another new ground for them, BILLERICAY. Highlight for me will be Easter Monday - 1st April 2013. TRURO CITY v Basingstoke Town A moneyspinning Bank Holiday fixture for Truro City who missed out on the Bank Holiday money games last season, maybe it is an omen and come 12 months time see the coffers at Treyew Road rattling to the sound of cash. The future is looking BETTER.
Mike Odgers
Another clash of dates with the Easter Monday Cornwall Senior Cup/ Junior Cup Final So we can rule out Treyew Road as a venue. I thought the Truro club and the CCFA resolved this issue after the debacle of two seasons ago.
MOUNTAINEER
Mike, Who would compensate Truro City for LOSS of REVENUE? The F.A has nailed it's colours to the mast with their competition requirements, preference will always be on the side of the BIG BOYS which is as it should be, they have earned the right to be competing at the higher level. No DEBACLE two years ago, the FA is the ruling body neither TRURO CITY or the CCFA can do anything about it.
Nemesis
Love it, Mountaineers highlight is April Fools Day. Not too sure that fans of the four finalists on Cornwall Cup Finals day will give a stuff about City potentially being at home. Likewise, any true City fan will watch their side regardless of anything else going on in the County. Those who are neutral will have a choice, that is always the case, to attend the Finals day or not. City cannot claim 'loss of revenue' on the fact that they have been given a home game on the same date as Cornish footballs biggest day, which as every Cornish footy fan knows, is every Easter Monday, Having said that, will the players, Heaney or even City be around then ? It is one thing to avoid paying hard working local small businesses, it is another to tangle with a specialist 'insolvency' firm of solicitors. On the assumption that City will start the season, here is some info for you. I have been to 'Ricay in a previous life, big strange ground, identikit terracing at either end some 5 or 6 steps back but giving a good view, small but nice Main stand, massive clubhouse, suggest if you are driving to park on the grass verge on the left as you turn down towards the ground, easier to get away quicker and no charge of course. Roll on Easter Monday !
