Lockhart Cup Final

West Cornwall 3-1 Stithians

Not much between the sides on the night. Stithians started by far the better side, and took the lead early on through a close finish from Ben Cox. Unfortunately he went off shortly after with a hamstring injury, which caused a slight shuffle with the Stithians front line. Stithians had more possesion 1st half, without creating many clear cut chances. Should of been 2-0 shortly before HT with a glaring miss from the centre forward.

Second half started fairly even, WC started to come into the game, but Stithians always looked dangerous going forward. Not a lot of goalmouth action, and then WC got their equaliser with a shot from 20 yards which gave the keeper no chance. This sparked WC into life, and not long after a slick move resulted in a cross from the right being turned into his own net from a Stithians player.

An unsavoury incident followed, which resulted in a WC player being shown a red card, with about 5 mins left. Stithians had a couple of chances from then, until Ian Chatfield struck a superb free kick right on 90 mins to more or less seal the tie.

Must say Stithians played very well, and the incident apart, was a good, tough, hard fought game. Good luck to them for the remainder of the league season.
