ST.Day 3 (1) - (0) 2 Mawnan After extra time.

st.day - dan richards 4, tom rosenveld 88,124

Mawnan - chris woods 65 , tom richards 90.

Dan Richards gave st.day the lead in the first 5 minutes with a well taken lob over the on rushing keeper to put st.day 1-0 up. st.day then created many chances with dan richards going close on many occassions including an overhead kick hitting the post. .the saints dominated the first half with the sun behind them and wind against there backs but could only take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Mawnan came out the 2nd half a changed team with the sun gone and no wind they controlled the ball well for long spells. mawnan got themselves level with a well taken 20 yard strike to the top corner leaving leah in the st.day goal with no chance 1-1. With the game then being a midfield battle the game was drawing to an end but st.day popped up with a goal in the 88th minute through tom rosenfeld who went in with a daring 50/50 with jamie head and managed to come out better off getting his head on the ball this seemed it, but mawnan had different ideas with st.day sitting back trying to see out the game mawnan got themselves back level in the 90th minute which sent the st.day subs who were on there way to the dressing room back to the dugout. 2-2 fulltime.

extra time

st.day decided to kick uphill first half and this seemed to pay off keeping mawnan at bay with no real chances for mawnan in this half but st.day had a goal ruled out for offside after dan richards tapped in at the far post.

extra time was ticking away in the 2nd half with both teams looking to not give anything away but then st.day came up with the goal in the last minute of the game through the skipper since the 70th min leading by example gathering on to a ball from will harvey smashing the ball in the bottom corner 2 send his team into the final. 3-2 st.day. .

a great game worth the £2 entry fee. both teams were physical but fair and best of luck to st.day in the final versus wendron.

might be worth a watch!

Well done St Day. Good game.

Referee had a shocker! (for both teams)! blowing for nothing at times!

Didnt give a stone wall penalty for mawnan but hey you win some you lose some.

Was a real battle for both teams and could have gone either way.

Good luck to St Day in the final.

Mawnans scorers:

Chris Wood

Tom Richards

why was carharrack charging to watch a junior football match?

The trelawny league gets the gate receipts for the semi finals and finals once the officials are paid not the hosting venue I wouldn't moan the small income they get from the showpiece games at the end of the season helps keep the membership fees down and pays for all the trophies....unfortunately without money to run these local football leagues we would all have to go to the park and put down some jumpers for goalposts to have a kickabout

Well said Pitty. It is the Trelawny League that sets the entrance fee. As a Carharrack Committee member it is more of a honour to host the match's rather than any monetary income. The groundsman works hard on the pitch.

a massive well done to all the st day 3rds, quite simply immense on the night aginst a very good mawnan side, a game played in shocking conditions was hard fought but extremly fair, not once did any player have words with each other, mawnan's sportsmanship was top notch, to be honest i think there was alot of respect from both teams.

1st half, st day dominated and should've been at least 3 up after numerous chances and some great football but instead we found ourselves only 1 nil up thu dan richards,

2nd half it was all mawnan for the 1st 35 mins, equalising with a good strike from the edge of the area, but although alot of pressure they just didn't create the chances, with the st day defence and midfield keeping them a good 20 yards from goal the majority of time, and with mark leah's impeccable handling between the sticks we felt if we could score a break away goal it would be enough, with 3 mins to go a wonder free kick into the heart of the mawnan area (prob ball of the game) was bravely nodded home by tom rosenfeld. game over.

i wish, straight away mawnan broke and for the 1st time in the game our midfield and defence switched off and didn't get the challenge in, with the young central midfeilder (hayden i think he's called, and a real top talent) beat and pulled it back for a decent strike to bring it to 2 each.

extra time 1st, st day elected to battle the conditions 1st period and i think mawnan will agree they never really troubled us as they did in the 2nd half, and it was st day who actually scored although given offside at the back post when dan richards tapped in after an exceptional run and shot by jacob cleverly was well saved by the keeps.

2nd half, again a bit of a stalemate with mawnan having a decent chance but the striker put it wide when under pressure from myself, it looked like pens were on the cards when dan richards broke, his shot was blocked and it fell to will harvey who fell while shooting and hit the keeper, will got back up and composed himself before rolling the ball back to the pen spot for tom rosenfelt to smash it home.

a great game played out by in my opinion 2 very good sides and if thats div 4, the premier league must be mustard. good to see bryn, but glad he was a little quiet on the night.
