Stithians 1-4 Helston (HT 1-2)

A much tighter game than the scoreline suggests. For the first 5-10 minutes it was pretty even, then Helston got on top and scored 2 in 5 minutes. Stithians kept their heads and were soon back in it with a well taken finish after 25 minutes.

Stithians than had most of the play for the rest of the half with a few chances, whilst Helston looked dangerous on the counter, but generally both defences on top. By this stage the pitch was starting to cut up so both teams struggled to play their normal passing game.

For the first 15-20 minutes of the second half Stithians again pressed for an equaliser and gave Helston one or two worrying moments. Then, Helston started to get in control of the game and were looking comfortable, though Stithians broke well from defence.

Stithians made an attacking change to go for the equaliser, but it was Helston who scored the important third goal 10 minutes from time with an unfortunate own goal. 5 minutes later they added a fourth to seal the win.

Overall, a good game to watch despite the conditions and good luck to Helston in the next round and Stithians for the rest of their season.

Definetely an own goal (sorry Jim ) but you know what strikers are like - they'll claim anything :)

Congrats for Saturday Bash, managed to catch the last half hour, you looked abit busy under your brolly and i wasn't getting out the car in that so catch you again mate!! Bit of a mud bath! Two good footballing teams so a shame about the weather. You got a nice balance there, plenty of experience at the back with Blakey and Wilko still looking as solid as ever (had a few bruises off them pair!!!) Plenty of youth and legs furthur up the pitch with abit of pace wide, reckon you got a great chance, will take a good team to beat you. Good luck bud :clapper:

Yeah not a bad set of lads - do work for each other and as you know, got to play for each other and no egos either - apart from mine ha ha.
