Afc Bodmin 2-1 North petherwin

Decent win for Bodmin today against an impressive petherwin side who I'm sure will be going up this season. Two fine goals from Matt Hooper, his second a screamer into the top corner giving Bodmin the points.

St. Columb Major 2 - 1 St. Dennis

St. Columb added another three points to their tally after being made to work hard by local rivals St. Dennis despite dominating the vast majority of the game, with David Rabone's late second half strike sealing the points.

Major, playing their penultimate home game of the season, made a very average start to the game and looked disjointed early on, although there were ample opportunities for Major to open the scoring; Casey Hawkey found himself in a great position and turned the ball just wide from close range, goalkeeper Anton Lake was then called into action, safely guiding a curling shot over the crossbar to keep the game goalless. Dom Roberts forced a smart stop from the visiting goalkeeper with a powerful strike from the edge of the area, minutes later Alex Bicknell looked destined to score and yet somehow his deft chip from the edge of the area beat the onrushing goalkeeper but bounced wide of the target, much to the frustration of the home side.

St. Dennis worked hard during the opening half-hour and were gifted a free kick in a dangerous position, however, the resulting set piece struck the wall. Major continued to look threatening despite being nowhere near their best and when Jean Francois found leading goalscorer Dom Roberts in space on the penalty spot, the big target man failed to realise how much space and time he had, sidefooting his first time effort wide. It came as no surprise when St. Dennis snatched an early lead just after half an hour; Aaron Bicknell was adjudged to have committed a foul on the edge of the Major area and despite the free kick being taken quickly and given away, the referee requested a re-take and the resulting set piece evaded everyone and emphatically flew in to the top corner of the net.

St. Columb needed to respond quickly and did so courtesy of another move involving Ali Bicknell, who hit a deep cross to the far post that Jean Francois worked hard to keep in, squaring the ball into the path of David Rabone who sidefooted into an empty net under pressure with the visiting goalkeeper nowhere to be seen.

Despite the first half being below par, it became a fascinating battle to see if St. Dennis could prevent the league's top scoring side from adding to their tally in the second period. It took less than a minute for the first opportunity; St. Dennis were in disarray as Rabone appeared to come off worst in a collision; the ball broke and Dom Roberts found himself through on goal, only for his attempted touch around the goalkeeper to be smothered just inside the area after an alert piece of goalkeeping. Depsite dominating possesion, Major's Adam Weller gave away the ball outside the penalty area and a fine opportunity was squanded by the visitors - this proved to be their last meaningful opportunity of the game as Major started to make their pressure count.

Aaron Bicknell made a fine run from right back and blasted a fine strike from the edge of the area that whistled inches over the crossbar, some fine link up play between Aaron Hawken and David Rabone resulted in Alex Bicknell clipping the ball wide when through one on one and Jean Francois somehow managed to follow suit when another fine pass from Aaron Bicknell set Francois free, only for another low finish to slide the wrong side of the post. Just as it seemed that Major would not convert their countless chances to win the game, a fine chipped cross from Aaron Hawken was expertly controlled by David Rabone, who dragged the ball down with his left and struck a sweet low half-volley into the bottom corner for a goal worthy of winning any encounter with just eight minutes remaining.

Major appeared much more relaxed after taking the lead for the first time and Rabone's outrageous chip from twenty-five yards clipped the underside of the crossbar and bounced just the wrong side of the line, with substitute Jason Rid unable to add a the finishing touch after some great defensive work. The resulting corner fell to Rid who had his first time strike blocked, with Rabone's follow up strike deflected wide. Rid then failed to convert a third chance late on as Jean Francois' harmless shot was being marshalled wide by the goalkeeper, only for Rid to keep the ball in when it appeared a lost cause. Rid turned back inside and poked his shot straight into the post from close range to continue the theme of missed opportunities for the home side.

St. Dennis then had a late free kick that came to nothing; the visitors deserve a lot of credit for their effort, despite failing to create many notable chances, their hard work and collective spirit will hopefully result in a few more points before the season ends.

St Teath 0-1 Camelford

Camelfords third win on the bounce after

a good game against their most local rivals. The

opening exchanges were fairly evenly contested

with both teams having their chances and failing

to convert.Camelford started to get on top halfway through

the first half and were breaking at will. They finally

got their goal through Jamie Burnett a rangey effort

ricocheting inoff the post. The goal was a fair reward for

the camels efforts.St teath made halftime changes that

changed their team dynamics for the better and they

were finding more joy in their attacks.Camels made their

changes too and the fresh legs countered the oncoming

Teath. The game was well reffed and the result was fair

for both teams, just a shame we had to

make a mess of one of the best surfaces in junior football.

Foxhole 3 V Goldolphin 6

A much changed Godolphin side went ahead against the run of play 14mins in. Foxhole scored there 1st on 15 mins. Godolphin then awarded a pen on 16mins, and scored to go 2-1 up. Godolphin then scored 2 more, shortly followed by a foxhole goal. Have time 4-2 against foxhole.

Foxhole change formation to deal with Godolphins longball game. It seemed to be working as Foxhole got there passing game together and dominated the next 10mins. Then Foxes was dealt a blow, Rob Giltjes sent off straight red, for a 50/50 ball and won the ball cleanly. Foxes down to 10, they continued playing all the good football. Foxhole hit both posts and crossbar and still could not find the target. Goldophins long ball did Foxhole again this time a soft pen given to Goldophin, which they scored to make it 5-2. Foxhole answered quickly with a goal via, another pen, the 3rd of the game. Danny Denning putting it away. 5-3 and Foxhole was all over Goldolphin. Again Foxes done by the long ball to make final score 6-3 to Goldolphin.

A friendly game that did not have a nasty tackle in it, but with 3 pens, 1 red card and quite a few yellow cards to both teams.

PROPER CORNISH FOXHOLE MAN OF THE MATCH - Aydan Rundle- Aydan worked his backside off today, he played up front, midfield and covered at the back. A credit to the Foxhole shirt this young lad, never moaned once. He won every ball and his passing today was spot on.

DONKEY OF MATCH – Rob Giltjes for being sent off for what we all thought was a fair tackle.

Grampound 2-0 Bere Alston

Absolute scorcher from 25 yards into the top corner from Lee Budge to give Grampound a deserved lead just before half-time.

Second half Bere were better and might have got something fom the game if they had kept their heads. Instead there were some horrendous challenges and Grampound broke away to score their second through Daley McErlain's neat chip.

St Newlyn East AFC 2 - 1 Gunnislake FC. We pretty much dominated most of the possession although Gunnislake did look dangerous on the break. Adam Williams got the break through. Then a mistake in the Newlyn defence and an unfortunate deflection made it 1 - 1. Chris Hall scored the winner just before half time. Second half much the same we should have put it to bed but couldn't finish off several one on one's. Gunnislake pushed quite a few up front last ten minutes but we held out. Fair game, decent ref played in good spirit. All the best to Gunnislake thanks for coming back to the pub.

Fair play to your first goal which was worthy of winning any game but if its wasnt for the terrible linesman you always have we could of got something from the game! Ive seen im run the line many times i dont understand why you want such a blatant cheat to help you win games! The game was ruined by him and the referee who wasnt strong enough to keep charge of a game like that!
