Foxhole 0 Liskeard 3

Saturday 21st January 2012

Two goals in the final six minutes gave the scoreline a flattering air to the visitors who, for all their possession, rarely threatened to breakdown a resolute home defence, being almost exclusively dependent on a long-ball game ill-advised in the gale. Richard Maddison was the only Liskeard player to prove a handful in an opening half of few chances, the nimble striker reacting first after Ryan Holland had fumbled Smith's attempt only for the big keeper to redeem himself with a brave block before an even better save thwarted Maddison from twenty-five yards. Sims flashed a free-kick narrowly wide after the referee had deemed to be unfair Faircloth's challenge on Maddison, who was soon to finish weakly at the near post following good work from Jewell, but the Foxes reached the break well satisfied with how they had contained the Premier division outfit.

Foxhole began the second half well, the excellent Spaul driving his team-mates forward against both the wind and the odds. Nevertheless any support for debutant Turton was habitually too slow in arriving so Borthwick never appeared unduly bothered his sheet would be soiled with a goal the home team's composure and spirit possibly warranted. On fifty-seven Liskeard finally netted, albeit against the run of play, through a close range effort from the otherwise anonymous Kanakh, the goal proving insufficient to prevent his almost immediate withdrawal in favour of the altogether livelier Richards, whose first touch produced a screamer which grazed the top of the bar.

Rather than ramming home their advantage Liskeard appeared content to play out time even with a third of the match remaining, but without the suspended Griffin Foxhole simply lacked the firepower to force an unlikely equaliser. Their evident toothlessness notwithstanding, the Foxes continued to press forward, inevitably creating gaps which Richards would twice have exploited were it not for Holland. On eighty-four minutes Donnellon made it 2-0 from six yards before a cleverly worked free-kick by Curtis resulted in Richards firing home the third three minutes later to seal victory in a game in which, despite there being virtually no bad tackles, Mr Maslen found it necessary to brandish yellow cards for fouls to Cooper, Curtis and Adam Holland.

Foxhole (4-5-1): Ryan Holland; Richard Faircloth, Ben Thomas (sub. Ryan Wilkins), Joe Stone, Adam Holland; Jaydon Gotthardt, Jamie Coates (sub. Aaron Talbot), Ben Spaul, Pete May, Adam Trudgian; Ross Turton (sub. Tony Mackellar).

I can understand that you would be biased but think you were seeing something different in some parts of your write up! Perhaps you should do write up's for a neutral match.............
