I was unavailable due to work commitments but it's been coming this result and as I said last week even though we lost I felt we had turned a corner. I am delighted for the lads and everyone that's worked hard to keep this team going this season. So lets bulid on this now boys and string a few results together, unfortunately I can't give any info/scorers on the game as I wasn't there but just wanted to congratulate the lads!!!!!!!!!!! :drink: :drink: :clapper:

Division 5

Newlyn NA Res 5 v Wendon 9ths 5

Newlyn were dejected in the dressing room after the game letting a 5-1 second half advantage slip away. should have been able to see the game out from there, but a combination of slack defending, good work by Wendron (who were always in the game to be fair), a forced change of goalkeeper saw the match end all square. Newlyn remain unbeaten, but need to get back to winning ways after 3 draws on the trot. We are hungry for a win and already looking forward to next week. Well refereed!

storm 3-1 madron

A good performance today by an ever improving storm team! Madron took the lead early with a corner that went straight in heavily wind assisted! Storm previously would of dropped there heads but we created 4 clear cut chances and didn't take any. Second half we came out with the wind behind us and squandered a few more chances but finally scored with a good chip from Marcus grasso. Who then scored another after a great through ball from Danny wills. The third goal was a well deserved goal from jake ireson who made his debut for the first team. Well done boys.

FROGPOOL (1) 1 Bawden 26(pen),

FAL.ATH (0) 3 Moore 48, pen 50?, Hurrell 60,

Fair result. Frogpool just about edged the first half with the wind and slope but an excellent second half display from Athletic saw them run out worthy winners and keep their unbeaten record going. Two good finishes, one from natural goalscorer Mike Moore who timed his run perfectly (i know cos i was linesman!!) and a great strike from 25 yards from Tim Hurrell just inside the far post. Can't remember who took the pen sorry!! 3 goals within 15 minutes of the restart did the damage and they never looked back. Nice to see former St.Agnes stalwart Steve Kemp come on and almost snatch a goal!? Athletic a strong team but see Culdrose beat Penryn 9-0 today so not sure which one of them will win it!? Yet to play each other so could come down to those two games??

M.O.M Steve Coggin ( Athletic ) Never gives the ball away, a great COG in the machine!!

REF Chris Dengler 9/10 Superb, can chat to Chris, will explain decisions to you and always tries to play advantage and keep the game flowing :clapper:

Enjoyed this afternoons game, the 1st since may last year, after a serious illness.

Its good to be back and thanks to both teams for a competitive game and not making it too 'easy'.

Thanks too to Buryan for their hospitality and kind words after the recent loss of my mother.

Hard fought game, would expect nothing less from a local derby! Chances for both sides but both Phill Stone and Paul Sweeney were on great form to keep the scores at zero! Well reffed by Francis Sampson, used common sense all the way through!.

You have got to be joking when you said well reffed! I'm sure most will agree.....

Illogan 3rds 1-1 st just res

Well played both teams today.

Ref was an absolute joke. He came into the changing rooms b4 the game and said he wanted a nice flowing game. But yet every single little foul he had to stop the game and talk to the offender! I am surprised the game is actually finished now!

Also 3 red cards which not one was warranted!

Think he was the ref at ludgvan when there manager pulled them off the pitch, i am not surprised at all

Absolute joke!

Good luck to st just for rest of the season. Good bunch of lads

I think people should be really careful of what they write on here! I am starting to hear stories about the CCFA pulling clubs up for what's written about refs etc etc! just a word of warning! Lets face it the intention of this forum is not to have a pop at referees!

Like a lot of refs who have played the game, i thought he let it flow, rather than being the sort who blows his whistle every 2 minutes. He could have been helped out a little more by his assistants, and could only give what he saw. Granted he ,may have got a few decisions wrong, but then im sure you made a mistake or two during the game!? Anyway was a great game to play in, and Good luck to Wayne and his boys for the rest of the season, except when we visit Fortress Borlaise!

Dunn Cup Result.

Gwinear 5 - 1 Gulval ( 2-1 ht )

5-1 doesn't really reflect the game Gulval fighting hard but finally running out of steam in the last 20 minutes or so. Good game to watch James Franklin smashing Gwinear in front from the spot only for Gulval to level from a superb header by their number 2 who was a real threat in the air and had already threatened as Gulval looked strong with the wind behind them Phillips looking lively with a few shots but it was the home team who lead at half time , Phil Hurrell with a perfect delivery and Ryan Turner rising above everyone with a thumping header .

Gulval came at Gwinear again after the re start and only a couple of good saves from Jay Blewett stopped them levelling. Gwinear kept the ball well all afternoon however and as legs started to get tired gaps started to appear in the visitors defence and the 3rd and best goal from Gwinear arrived when Phil Hurrell found James Franklin who rolled it back to captain for the day Paul Hollow , seeing that Hurrell had kept his run going down the left Olly played a sweet ball for Hurrell to run onto and cross , which was met by Turner who fired in his second of the afternoon . Chris Perry and James Paradise came on for Franklin and Hollow who had both put in great shifts and Perry got on the ball keeping possession well and Paradise found time to reach double figures for the season thumping two late headers past the impressive Gulval keeper who himself saved a penalty from Turner to make it 6 which really would of flattered Gwinear .

Mr Porterfield had a good game missed very little and left with the football card cash !!! :clapper: Top game from Neil Irish our lino as ever . Good luck Gulval made a good game of it and always good to have some banter with one of our local legends see you in a couple of weeks Rhonda :drink:

Hopefully people will take heed of this warning. I gather it probably only applies when the referee reading the criticism decides to take the comment further but best be careful.

Rangers 3 - 3 Redruth

Good game which had to be switched to Gala Park after a pile up of fixtures at Clijah. Both sides battled for this one Redruth taking the lead on three occasions. I may be slightly biased but Rangers should have won this one for sure. Three big misses and two second half goals dissallowed for offside, best not to go there though.

Redruth tackled everything that moved and fair play to them for doing it for 90 minutes on what is a massive pitch. Could have even knicked it at the death with a handball shout turned down.

We are giving everyone a real tough game at present but when you lose 5 strikers in a season and you dont have the luxury of a second team to call on its hard work picking up the results you sometimes deserve.

Ref was a gent and was even handed with both sides.

Trelawny League Div. 3

St. Ives Town Res 5 .v. Holman SC Res 1

Comprehensively beaten by a well organised, good footballing St Ives side. The home side created some half chances in the early stages of the game to set out their stall whereas we struggled to get a foothold in the game and saw most of our attacks sniffed out early. A shot from the edge of the box saw the opener and, with about 5 minutes to half time, the ball spun and caught the wind all across our back line and unfortunately whilst trying to volley clear Bevin Stone scored a stupendous own goal to see the home side 2 up at the break.

We hoped we had turned the corner in the second period when we halved the goal deficit within a few minutes. Neil Anthony raced onto a through ball and as the home 'keeper advanced Neil simply lobbed the ball into the unguarded net. Our celebrations, however, were shortlived when St Ives scored a well worked goal and then, with us defending terribly, scored a fourth from a corner. St Ives went on to take a strong grip of the game as we struggled to get any momentum moving forward and scored their fifth to ensure a resounding victory.

Very disappointing loss for us following last weeks win. Roll on next week when we entertain Penryn at home. All the best to St Ives.

Falmouth Albion 1-5 Goonhavern (0-0 h/t)

Solid performance from us yesterday against dogged opponents who took the lead shortly after half time. This gave us a kick up the backside and we scored 3 in quick succession thanks to a brace from Sam Mansfield either side of an Ian Gosling free kick. We added to our lead thanks to first goals of the season for Glenn Rogers, who dedicated his goal/cross to his new born, and the gaffer, Craig Brown. The game was well reffed by Colin Spence. All the best to Albion for their remaining games.

Also heard it was Illogan 3-3 Ludgvan with Illogan scoring twice late in the game.

St Buryan 1 Troon 2

A very Dissapointing result for Buryan in a game which had 2 penalties 1 for each team they scored and we missed. Their second goal was my mistake really pushing the defence up against a heavy wind and a long ball over the top and their player lobbed the keeper. Second half was all Buryan but after attack after attack we only managed one goal credit to Troon who defended really well.

cant disagree with much on that report really . good open game with chances coming thick and fast . where your struggling with strikers our problem is the other end . our goalkeeper dropped out at midday and two midfielders had to fill in at the back but thats life. good game good referee and a good bunch of lads at porthleven . best of luck for the rest of the season

Illogan 1-1 St.Just (HT 1-0)

The result of this game has no bearing whatsoever on what happened on a sunny January afternoon.

From the kick off the ref decided to blow his whistle at every coming together and the game could not go longer than 1 minute before he wanted to speak to, or book someone. After only 10 minutes he awarded a penalty to Illogan at the total disbelief of both managers and all players! From then on the game turned into a bigger pantomime than **** Whittington. He continued to stop the game then book 4 people and send off 3 - it would've been cheaper for both teams to go to the pub and get stiffened...and more fun! (But the ref wouldn't have come as we wouldn't have got served!)

All joking aside, this was a total embarrassment for all concerned, as the 17 year old referee (who not coincidently was the one that disrupted the Ludgvan game to the point they all walked off) was way out of his depths. I have no qualms with any referee and many ex-footballers have gone on to be the best referee's in the area, but a young boy barely out of short trousers should at least have a referee’s accesser with him for the first few months. If this was to have happened, the accesser would've jumped in after 30 minutes to stop this total farce!

At the end of the game I felt a bit sorry for the young lad to who was in tears (complaining about his arm...probably due to the amount of cards he withdrew from his pocket) with only his mum, a spectator, to comfort him.

I hope the powers to be can sort this out in the future, as 30 players and staff had an afternoon totally wasted, and the 2 clubs will now have to re-mortgage their clubhouses to pay for all the fines.

Good luck to Illogan for the rest of the season - see you at our place for the re-match. Good bunch of lads, cracking manager.

1ofthekids, just a few points if I may,

1, where on earth are the assessors coming from to be with the same referee for a few months ?.

2, If an assessor had been there he does not have the authority to step in and stop the game.

3, If you are as concerned as your post states then you are writing the correct report to the CCFA, but then again maybe not.

Posted

Whilst it is not nice to see referees being berated on here, it does seem to be more and more commonplace and perhaps there really is no smoke without fire. Perhaps instead of the CCFA just reading the posts and punishing players/teams for their comments, perhaps they might investigate some of these complaints and constructively take action - it seems the same referees being under the spotlight - surely there is something that can be done to improve things for all. Yes we all know that we could not play without referees but surely the CCFA are somewhat honour -bound to ensure that teams are not denied their enjoyment on a saturday too.

Posted

le boss, please can we get something straight the CCFA do not read posts and punish players/teams for their comments on here. anything that has happened on here in that scenario is because the match referee involved knew who the player concerned was and as such is entitled to take action ie, submit a report, now if a referee submits a report to the CCFA they are obliged to take action.

Posted

le boss, If the team feel that the referee is below standard then they are entitled to send in a report, the CCFA can and will investigate those reports. I know teams deliberately give the referee enough marks so they do not have to write a report, so the answer is to be honest and write in a report if needed. I believe the figure for sending in a report is below 60/100, so you have the answer at your fingertips.

Yes it is 60 but to my knowledge when reports have been submitted there is never any feedback to the clubs
