Delighted to say that the first game under lights at Poltair Park will be Friday the 27th January 1945 ko.

Thank you to Buckland for agreeing to this.

This will be a truly unbelievable occasion for all involved at AFC St Austell.

Well done to St Austell & especially to you James. Its great to see a club moving forward in these difficult times & its down to you & a lot of other people commited in driving the club on.

Im at an age where i can remember senior cup finals being played at Poltair & im sure it wont be long before they are played there again.

Well done to all concerned. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

Good sport on Buckland Athletic for agreeing to the fixture change

especially as the have aspirations for promotion to the Western League.

AFC st.Austell a very unpredictable side so Buckland may "come a cropper"

Congratulations to all at Poltair on their historic event.

Yes - same fixture last season was 6 4 to St.Austell. Wouldn't something similar be good again, especially in front of what i expect to be at least 400/500 if the weather is OK.

What a great effort by the St.Austell club. I had a look this afternoon and the ground is really looking like a football stadium now, and the playing surface is looking superb.

Looking forward to the first game under lights.

What do you think the crowd might be Tony.

Perhaps challenge the record for a swpl game!!

I think Newquay have the record of about 700 plus so would be nice to beat that.

Did you think about organising a prestige friendly for an official opening? I remember that's what Falmouth Town did...(although I'm not sure it was actually the first match under lights).

Hi everyone,

I'm a journalist student writing a news article on the construction of floodlights at Poltair Park.

Has anybody got any useful contacts, either within or outside the club, that could help me dig into the story?

Or does anyone here have anything to share that could go into the article?

I would like to use a couple of the posts already on here to make up some quotes. First of all, Money Man, can I have your permission to use your opening post?

Feel free to contact me via any of the methods below.

Thanks very much.
