Will have to pop down when you play Elburton in the cup. Now that will be interesting

I watched the Parkway game today and everyone thinking Ross will be a miss need to slow down. They coped very well without him, looked a very good side and if they play like that every week will be champions. Hopefully Ross will be a regular for Torpoint and drag them down the way he dragged Parkway down. Upwards and Onwards now for Parkway

With Tavistock v Saltash surprisingly waterlogged(!) I watched this game and have to agree with Bex:Parkway were excellent; playing some of the best fotball I have seen this season. However,Wadebridge must be congratulated on their sportsmanship and although well beaten always tried to play good football.I must say their keeper was outstanding and kept the score down.I don't know how good Ross was,but he would have to be top drawer to keep any of to-day's forewards on the bench.

A word of praise for the Referee(didn't know him), who gave an exemplary display with excellent use of advantage.Looking forward to a return visit.

Aldestrop...... Is that a compliment :).......... I have to agree seeming we havnt played for 5-6 weeks.... We played some great football, Wadebridge keepr Ben HUrst was superb today and kept the scoreline down, annoyed me as he saved 3 of my good chances!!! :)

Credit to us though as we are pushing hard for this title and seeming this was a game in hand and a good result, means we are on the march!

Mixed review of the ref... but i thought he did very well

Posted

I thought the ref was decent. He certainly didn't get any big decisions wrong. I also thought Wadebridge were a good footballing side, there right back looked a very good player. Unfortunately though they came up against a strong Parkway side that would have beaten any side in that league today

Posted

Many thanks for the compliment Adlestrop:

Well depends what number shirt you are talking about...... i would like ot think it was me but :) ..... I was the only forward as we plyed 4-5-1... but could have been anyone who was pushing forward..... i was right uptop number 9 shirt...... Alot of very good performances today!

Wadebridge right back was good!!! I went past him every time, set two up scored 1!!! Two strikers 4 them were non stop runners could easily off been 2-2 half time... They dint stop just like most teams in the league...

Aldestrop, were do you live? Only asking as you made a comment about Tavys fixture. Did you inspect the pitch? Your comment seemed to raise suspicion on the game not being played. Interested to know why.

Lanreath 0 Launceston 4

A very good workmanlike display from us yesterday, making it 5 wins on the bounce. we are now counting the cost of that bad run we had in oct/nov when we lost 3 or 4 games, because if it was not for that stupid blip we would be bang in contention. We were never in doubt of the 3 points once we got the the opener early doors through sam smith, few more half chances went a miss for us but only led 0 1 at the break. 2nd half we upped the tempo and had more quality with our passing which created many chances of which 3 more goals were scored through mark goodman, charlie barnes and ryan crab. Again Lanreath to there credit never gave in and had a couple of half chances in the game, but 3 points for us keeps our run going.

well refereed by Alan Johns

Somebody did say that Adlestrop may be involved with the ECPL in some capacity and if he is, then I am very concerned as to his comments.

The pitch was unplayable last Saturday when the first team were due to play at home and it was in the same state this Saturday morning after the deluge on Friday night. See other games quite close (geographically) in the SWPL were also off yesterday, namely Launceston and Okehampton.

Obviously Adlestrop was insinuating something sinister Mex, maybe he should grow a backbone and say what!

Bude1: probus 0

A close game between two well organised teams! Some good football played by both sides but bude got the only goal of the game from a grat header from the bude striker. Probus goal keeper fabian richards had a good game for the visitors an also the buda goal keeper kept them in it at the end when with the wind probus put the pressure on! Some good banter from the bude supporters made the game intresting and a good atmosphere. I think a draw would have been a fair result! An once again i believe probus manager chris davey was seen speaking to the ref in the bar! Probably to get the team sheat signed but who nos not opening a can of worms or anything lol! All good banter!

Adlestrop, still waiting for your response about the condition of Tavistock pitch which was postponed. Are you available this weekend to carry out a few pitch inspections? What pitches are local to you to inspect?

Posted

Mex,there is not a lot of mystery surrounding my frivolous comment about the ground condition last Saturday. You will know there has been a lot of negative comment about Bolitho Park being put out for various reasons-and I think they (Home Waters) hit the nail firmly on the head in his recent post saying the 1st team had the right to make these decisions as their games create the main income at home.I had never in my blinkered thinking considered this, but I have to agree it is absolutely correct.

with this in mind,I was, therefor, more than surprised that Bolitho was on and Langsford off.

I must admit if I had any say in pitch iinspections I would selfishly put them all in !!!My posting was,I hope you agree, was a little tongue-in-cheek with a large pinch of salt.

Like yourself,Mex,I chose to use a pseudonym: but NEVER intend to be defamitory to anyone(although maybe contriversial at times). If you think otherwise I offer an unreserved apology-with no hard feelings.

Anyway, having got that out of the way,I like the look of the forcast for this weekend and what a great game in the offing between Tavy and Parkway-Whose your money on ??As a Devonian, maybe a draw will be best-although having watched P.P. last week I think whoever finishes above them will win the League.Let's hope it's better than that non-event at Launceston(v Bodmin) last night-not a great advert for the Cornwall Cup.

Kind regards,

A.

Why would Tavy call the game off? After playing St Dom and getting a good result the previous Saturday, and then going to Torpoint on the Monday and giving a good account of themselves although probably wishing not to have to play after the Saturdays game due to injuries etc. Nobody from Tavy is complaining. (from a supporters point of view). I cant speak for the management. The reason for this post was Adlestrop comment on the pitch. Out of interest can you name the Tavy 1st that have played for the 2nds? and how many 2nd team games have taken place when the 1st have not had a game.

Posted

Thanks for the reply Adlesrop, I think the game should be a good game. I know both teams are going into the game in good form. I think Tavy will just shade it at home. Hopefully the weather will improve and the pitch will be playable. Interested to know who will be reffing it.

Mex;as for the referee on Saturday.I should likec to think it will be the likes of Messrs.Martin Smith or Al Johns.

At the moment I'm torn between this game or Saltash v Buckland(probably the latter). As for Tavy-well I'll be a coward and plump for a draw;although having watched several of P.P.'s games this season-they are looking good. Not seen much of Tavy-except Probus(H)- but they look a workmanlike side(good keeper).

P.S,. are you a regular Tavy supporter?

Think he may be a supporter of both Tavi and Saltash due to family reasons!! Isnt that right Mex??!!

I enjoy following as much local football as possible. Having finished playing regular Saturday football I like to follow local teams with attractive fixtures. I probably watch Tavy and Saltash more than the other local teams(as Tom pointed out),but I do follow all results. Jefferson Hog I have played for Bere Alston also! Back in the days of Chairman Mr Smith. I think his son Kim was involved a few years ago. My apologies if I have got the names wrong. Jimmer Rowlands was just coming to the end of his playing days as we started playing for Bere.

Thanks Karaoke for letting me know who was the appointed ref for Saturdays game. Should be a cracker!

Don't read the Indy so bit of a weird shout!

I read the herald though and on here as I live in London to see what's occurring in local football!

Can see where your coming from Beggie, and have every sympathy living rough in London but local football? Where does local start and end? Glad to see that Big Issue does work and that the Herald gets delivered up there.

Garf, I dont think hes worth responding to. Ive never noticed his previous posts before so dont really understand where hes coming from. Happy to discuss or debate any topic he might want to bring to the forum, but if hes just a Tavy basher with no proper facts. I wouldnt bother replying.
