Yes, you can enjoy football everyday of the weekend if you fancy it!

Weather permitted I'm hoping to take in two JCCL matches to begin with, visiting Penlee Park this evening for Penzance v St Ives, followed by Penryn Athletic v Falmouth Athletic tomorrow.

Sunday, it's up a few levels to watch Conference South football between Truro City v Weston Super Mare and then finally on Monday it's the Throgmorton Cup tie between Saltash Utd v Falmouth Town.

Mind you, with the rain coming down at the moment, what's the chances I might have to vary my plans!!! 😉

Wherever we all end up - enjoy your Cornish football and a Happy New Year to everyone 😄

Certainly proved to be a good and also deserved win (4-1) for the Magpies.

Although it did rain for most of the match, it was generally only sweeping misty stuff and didn't cause the pitch to cut up at all.

As for "hogging the tea hut" - not exactly, only ten minutes or so whilst enjoying a splendid hot cup of coffee.

Interesting conversation from the tea hut lady - once more a very surprised reaction when she found out that we weren't connected with either side. It seems almost a crime to just go along as a neutral and enjoy watching a game! 😃

Dave.

Happy New Year to you also.

One game that will almost certainly survive the weather is at Burngullow Road where Sticker entertain Probus. Kick Off at 2.30 pm.

You are certainly spot on there Dave Pitch is ok! Although It wont look so good for our cup game on Monday!

Dave - Just having a (lol) moment in response to you asking me where I got my info about people attending games on Saturday, more than a dozen of my friends did just that. As for the Sticker v Probus game almost SIX decades ago I played for Probus, I remember some of those games as if it were only yesterday.

Conference South............. Non League Step 2

S W Peninsula League Premier....... NL Step 6 - (NOT Step 5 as shown on the Cornish Soccer Website).

S W Peninsila League Division's 1... NL Step 7

Cornwall Combination ..................... NL Step 8

East Cornwall League ..................... NL Step 8

Happy New Year - Too tired to do the maths :smiley20:

Three down after today's match between Truro and Weston Super Mare. Not quite the required outcome with Aaron Pugh scoring in the wrong net clinching a one goal win for the visitors to Treyew Road! It wasn't a classic and looked to be heading for a goalless scoreline until that goal two minutes from time.

I also carried out an interview with Truro's Chairman and owner Kevin Heaney - his new year's message to the club's supporters should be available on the Piran Films Youtube site later this evening I gather.

Tomorrow, it's off to the far east of the county - League Cup football from the SWPL - the Throgmorton Cup which I always think must be one of the weirder names for a Cup competition, but I am aware that Carl Throgmorton and his wife put a lot of time and money into sponsoring it and so it's only right they get their name on the trophy - something a lot of clubs haven't done yet!

Saltash v Falmouth, an all-Cornish tie is the match. It should be a good one, weather permitting, I for one will be keeping an eye on the SWPL forum to see what happens after the morning pitch inspection. :ninja:

I also played cricket for Probus and Truro, when Probus became a senior side I was one of those who helped them lose their Junior status, you may have met a Probus "Hero" George Simcock - George use to play Lancashire League cricket which was the only place overseas players could play in those days, it showed, I remember George opening the bowling for Truro in his first game for them he took a wicket with his first four balls, I partnered him at Plain-an-guarry where whilst I scored ONE George got 81, in another game he hit 6 sixes in an over, he was an inspiration to me a young 15 year old (Blimey 1951).
