For those that don't buy the local newspapers, here are some of the Odd Facts of the Week I have dug up and they have printed as part of my Combo Snippets write-ups..

Everything is fact

Many games have finished 5-5 but the highest ever score draw was played on 26th October 1974 between Helston Athletic and RAF St Mawgan. At half-time Helston were 5-0 up but St Mawgan came back to 5-4 before the game finally finished 6-6.

On Saturday 23rd April 1965, because they had a backlog of games, Nanpean Rovers arrived in West Cornwall with two teams. One played Penzance and lost 1-0 whilst the other went onto Mousehole and lost 2-0, both games kicking-off at the same time. The only time this has ever happened.

On the Combo website I am trying to find out the dates of every match played and stated way back in August I had not found a team who played five drawn games in a row. Wrong! One I said about last week, Ludgvan and this week I have found another. St Ives drew five in a row during the 2007-08 season. In April 2008 they drew 1-1 against Holmans, Ludgvan, Perranwell, 0-0 against Hayle and 2-2 against Newquay.

The fewest number of games a club has played in the league is five. The Camborne School of Mines joined the league at the start of the 1964-65 season and had only played five league and one cup game by Christmas so withdrew from the league. For the record the scores of their games were; Porthleven 5-0 CSM (3-10-64), CSM 0-4 Newquay Reserves (10-10-64), CSM 4-1 Marazion Blues (17-10-64), Falmouth Town Reserves 2-0 CSM (24-10-64) and CSM 5-1 Porthleven (7-11-64). The cup game score was CSM 0-2 RNAS Culdrose (???).

On 17th February 1990 Penryn Athletic beat Falmouth Town Reserves 12-2. At half time the score was 1-2 and with 20 minutes to go 3-2. Penryn scored a remarkable 9 goals in the final 20 minutes.

It was reported on 12/2/81 that St Dennis dismiss two players for continuous misconduct so another nine players walk out as well. The club ask the league if their next two matches can be postponed so they can sort out a team but the league refuse. They are then fined £10 for calling off a match at St Just and then lose their following match 3-2 to Penzance using players from Foxhole and Nanpean.

Goals galore! On Saturday 20th March 1965 the following four games took place. Three finished: St Breward 7-1 Penzance Reserves, St Just 7-1 RNAS Culdrose, and Porthleven 7-1 Falmouth Town Reserves. The other game played that day was RAF St Mawgan 0-1 Helston Athletic Reserves.

Marazion Blues moved to The Folly Field for the start of the 1972-73 season. For the previous 12 seasons they had played at Rosudgeon. Their first home game on 9th September, against Illogan RBL, was 3-5 defeat. Home fans had to wait until 28th October for the maiden home win, a 6-1 victory against RAF St Mawgan.

You're right Dave. Too early in the morning.

Sorry I can't tell you anyone's goal scoring figures as mid-week games were not reported on so no goal scorers. Thus I didn't do it for any team.

The website goes back to 2008-09 with goal scorers.

So Perranwell's last few years are

http://www.cornwallcomboleague.co.uk/08perranwellgoals.htm

http://www.cornwallcomboleague.co.uk/09perranwellgoals.htm

http://www.cornwallcomboleague.co.uk/10perranwellgoals.html

http://www.cornwallcomboleague.co.uk/11perranwellgoals.html

The info is also on the site for all the other clubs for these last 4 years.

Would love to know the all time Perranwell goal scoring chart.

If you could work that our CTB then i will give you some credit :clapper: :clapper:

After many years and as a hobby I have managed to get all the Falmouth results and Dates played since 1950

Scorers i would say 90% and then how accurate? especially midweek games where names were given over the phone from a Pub /clubhouse and the local press didn't bother in depth with these evening reports.

The South Western League didn't retain the match details and how many clubs bother to keep a detailed record?

Appearances is another issue again and luckily for Falmouth in the early days a 13 man squad was the basis of a seasons football and you could guess the lineup for an out of County fixture

Those early Home programmes would show a selected side (2-3-5) decided by a midweek selection committee.

So to ask Paul about individual club scorers is nigh on impossible after all his comprehensive League record must be second to none in the Country.
