Couldn't agree more Mike, but by no means not the only 'stretched' league membership for clubs then and even now. Newquay United joined the 1st Division of the Plymouth and District League in season 1921/22.Teams competing that season were Tavistock, Liskeard, St.Austell, Green Waves, R.M.L.I , Woodland Villa, Looe, St. Michaels, Torpoint, Millbrook, St. Thomas, Torquay, Truro and Oreston Rovers. If ever a league should have been renamed this must have been it - Surely this really should have been the South Western League, 30 years or so before the actual one started ! Must take a break from my screen now and let the blood flow back into my body from my head - Not good doing handstands at my age !
