Decided a change of scenery today and went to watch Holamns v Troon local derby, turned up 10mins before HT and as i was walking down to the pitch a Troon player picked the ball up 40yrds out drove 10-15yrds unchallenged and let rip from what was about 25yrds and the ball aided by the wind, elegantly curled around the rooted Minns and into the top corner-have to say-great goal.

Moments later, a long punt from a free kick by the half line looked like it had been harmlessly over hit as it sailed over everybody, but for some reason Scotty Thomas put his hands on the player he was marking and that player went down like he had been shot-penalty...which was calmly slotted.

2nd Half, pretty scrappy-neither team keeping hold of the ball, with Simon Lavis in the Holmans midfield having a blinder-very composed on the ball, Troon started to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when a nice little one 2 ended in a goal. Holmans huffed and puffed but the impressive Ben Gadson from Troon just kept Troon ticking and Troon kept comin forward as Holmans frontline failed to hold the ball to give the back line a needed break, a lovely one 2 by the jman and an overlapping right back for Troon cut the Holmans backline apart-floated in a cross and from 6yrds the Troon forward made no mistake.

An enjoyable watch and great welcoming reception in the club house as per usual, on another note, was nice to see Ashley Smeeth who has recovered well from his knee dislocation and should be returning to action in the next couple of weeks-good luck Ash (take out personal accident insurance though lol).
