Rangers travelled to in form Falmouth without joint manager Richard who had to withdraw at the last minute due to family commitments this left them with just the two players on the bench, Tom Pilling and Aaron Doble. Peter opted for a 4-2-4 formation with a back four of Everett, Fisher, Duchenski and Harris, a midfield four of Plant, Greening, Worbey and Gardner with Harvey and Tapp up front. Rangers were the first to settle and looked comfortable with the their new look formation and they should have been given a chance to test the home defence in the first five minutes when Chapman in the home goal clearly controlled a back pass with his arm but nothing was given. Lloyd Gardner was finding space down the left flank and it was no more than the visitors desereved when he cut in from the left, dummied past two defenders and hit a screaming drive into the top corner. Chances were few and far between for the hosts although Joe had to be at his best to keep out a Hodges drive that was heading for the top corner but Rangers were to suffer a major setback on the stroke of half time when Steve Harris went down clutching his knee and had to be replaced by Aaron Doble. Before Rangers had time to settle they were thrown a life line when Duchi found himself the wrong side of Green who went theatrically to earn his side a penalty which Vercesi despatched with ease.

The second half was only five minutes old when Greeno was fouled by a crude tackle by a home team defender right under the nose of the referee who, after putting his whistle to his mouth, decided to play on to the surprise to the players on both sides, Drummond broke into the box and from some distance trhe referee adjudged that Phill brought him down and gave a penalty which Vercesi again scored from. This was a major incident in the game and the Rangers players felt badly let down by the man in black. Not surprisingly they lost their composure and confidence and were punished by another penalty decision when all Joe did was to appear to stand his ground but Drummond cannoned into him and Vercesi completed his hat trick with his third penalty. Another goal was soon to follow when Drummond found himself clear in the box to score from 10 yards. At this stage Rangers could have folded but they dug in and had a couple of good chances through the energetic Alex Greening and Raith Plant but keeper Chapman came to Falmouth's rescue both times.

So an eventful game came to an end and Rangers could look back with some justification that they had not had the rub of the green on more than one occasion on the day

North Devon Dweller, yes the Falmouth Players like most games had their fair share of fouls , but nothing really bad But the way the Cullompton players came out in the second half right from the start they behaved like butchers, & as I said in a previous comment if only they kept their heads the result could have been different, in my view they did the name of Collumpton Football club no good at all, with reference to the man in black there were two teams on the pitch, & this ref never has favoured Falmouth in any shape or form,

which also states that the hattrick from Vercesi within a 16 minute period was the first ever from Penalties by a Town player.

Of course games are often seen differently from either side but that report is just pathetic. Ignoring the factual errors, (it was Hodges who was fouled for the first and third penalties), there was no doubt about any of the penalties. Actually the referee was kind to Cullompton in not sending off the thug 'Duchi'; who let his side down badly with his selfish, childish antics, as well as stupidly giving away the first penalty. Also the keeper should have gone under the current rules.

I asked the question on the Tony kempster site regarding a Penalty hat trick and a Wayne Boud did it for Fareham on October 1st and surprisingly Ashley Spencer did likewise foe Bedworth United on Saturday

According to This is Cornwall, Lee Whetter scored a penalty hat-trick for Snozzle against Wadbridge last March in the SWPL. Same day Town beat Buckland Ath 3-2.

Funny how teams react differently when going 3 or more goals down.I remember watching dartmouth at falmouth a few weeks ago and it is safe to say they were given the run around first half by a very accomplished falmouth attack and found themselves 5-0 down!However, to their credit, instead of resorting to underhand tactics to release frustration came out second half and played some very good football to actually win the second half 2-1 albeit much too little too late.Certainly think falmouth will be there or therabouts come the end of the season,my prediction would be third.

I think you'll find I pointed that out earlier in the post. (The Cullompton report claimed they were '...punished by another penalty decision (3rd) when all Joe did was to appear to stand his ground but Drummond cannoned into him...' ).
