CHACEWATER (1) 3 M.Hitchens 14, C.Hitchens 86, ? 89,

ST.DAY (0) 1 Rapsey 63,

M.O.M Brendan Hitchins (Chacewater)

Not sure on the scorers, Nige will correct it im sure. Did'nt see the last goal, was trying to nick the Mrs last cup of coffee out her flask!! Chacewater by far the better team first half and the Saints shaded the second half but were undone on the break by the pacy home team, particularly Brendon Hitchens who was a livewire throughout. Always nice to see the Chacewater faithful who are still as passionate about their club as always. Well controlled by Mr.Trevor Lawrence. A couple of former refs in attendance today also, Mr.Chris Coombes and one of the best around Mr.Nigel Jewell. :clapper:

Hi Mark,

Just got back from helping at the firework display at Chacewater - absolutely superb with over a 1,000 people there.

Chacewater goals from Mike Hitchens(2) and Brendan Hitchens, who scored the third goal.

A good game of football played fairly by both teams. With four players on holiday (during the football season!) and a goalkeeper unavailable,we had to play Gavin Bennetts in goal and a patched up defence in front of him.On the plus side we welcomed back Mike and Craig Hitchens.

Chacewater should have put the game out of St.Day's reach in the first 20 minutes but didn't and we had to endure a rollercoaster of a second half following Mark's goal before two late goals sealed the win.

All the best to Garry,Adrian (faultless again on the line and signalled the third goal for Chacewater to assist the referee) and St.Day for a good game.

West Cornwall 4-0 Mullion

Another decent performance from WC today, played some good stuff in patches. In all fairness it should of been over by half time but for some missed chances and wastefullnes when we workeed the ball into some great positions. HT 1-0.

2nd half was more of the same, with WC limiting the visitors to, at best, half chances from range. More missed chances from WC kept Mullion in the game until WC scored their 2nd goal about 20 mins into the half which sort of killed the game. A 3rd soon followed, which did kill the game, then a 4th added near the end. Must give credit to a young Mullion side who continued to knock the ball around a play til the final whistle. Think we meet once more this season, look forward to the next one. Until then, all the best! Referee Colin Spence was outstanding once again. Top stuff!!

Goonhavern Res 3 0 Mawnan Res

A superb display form start to finish sealed a deserved win for the home side. Goonhavern hussled and harried the visitors for 90 minutes and gave away just one chance. Goals today coming from the left peg of Paul Guttridge from 25 yards following what felt like a 30 pass move, and another brace for top scorer Marc "Weeble" Wilson, scoring right at the end of the 1st and 2nd half. Very proud of the lads today. Not one player had a bad game.Well reffed.

St Buryan 1 Rangers 7

Rangers: Jordan Allan 3, Gary Richards 1, Bobby Huse 2, Ben Stidwell 1,

A good game played in good spirit with not a bad challenge in 90 minutes. End to end wind made it hard work for 45 minutes for both sides. Rangers turning round 2 -0 up and missing a pen playing into it. St Buryan worked hard with the wind but other than a couple of chances from corners, one of which was cleared off the line, never really tested the visiting keeper often enough.

Second half was pretty much all Rangers, St Buryan did come out quickly put the tide soon turned against them. Rangers scoring at regular intervals taking a 6-0 lead. St Buryan deservidly got the goal their hard work deserved late on but it was Rangers who finished the scoring.

Game was well reff'ed and I must mention the home linesman who very sportingly awarded a goal, when well placed to see it crossed the line. I can think of plenty of occasions when that wouldn't have happened. :clapper: As for St Buryan players thanks for a good game and good luck for the rest of the season. C U at ours in a couple of weeks................

Taking nothing away from a good display from goonhavern who totally deserved tonwin 3-0 if not by more. Mawnan had there striker in goal, centre half with first team, and both centre midfielders injured in first 10mins. at 0-0 mawnan had a goal disallowed for an apparent offside which never was, but nobody moaned, the referee had a good game overall. goonhavern totally dominated a poor mawnan team.

Sorry for the delay Dave!!! The kids have let me back on the computer!! Who invented facebook anyway!? We only had hide and seek when i was young!!! :( Need another 114 for the 2000 mate! Seems a million miles away after yesterday!! Would have said in the bag by the end of next season a few years ago but not as confident now to be honest Dave! Better get some vets games in!?! Will be 45 at the end of the season so hoping the goals will be scored and the boots in the bin before 46 comes around mate!!! Must admit retirement seems more appealing every Saturday about 5pm!!! :c:

Division 5

Frogpool Reserves 3 - 7 West Cornwall Reserves (HT 1-2)

Another three points in a pretty strange game.

We went two goals up without really leaving second gear and rather than push on from that point and kill the game off before half time we allowed the home team back into the game and went in 2 - 1 up at the break.

Frogpool equalised fairly early on in the second half and at this point it could of gone one of two ways, we could of collapsed, let our heads drop and go on to lose the game or we could turn things back around in our favour. Luckily for us it was the latter, their equaliser was the kick up the backside we needed to stop ourselves getting involved with all the silly tackles and start to play some football. Once we did that we took control of the game and it finished 3 - 7.

Some dissapointing stuff from both sides throughout, Frogpool seemed to have their game plan and we had to endure quite a few rough challenges and fouls early on in the game. It's not the first time we've had to come up against this tactic but unfortunately on Saturday a few of our lads took exception to it and dished out a few rough challenges of their own. It was this that allowed Frogpool back into the game as once we cut it out to play our own football and left the home team to do the kicking we banged the goals in. I thought the ref had a good game in difficult circumstances with all the tackles that were flying about, I do think that a lot of it could of been avoided had he dished a card or two out to either side in the first half though.

Also an unsavoury moment after the final whistle with a couple of our young lads reacting to a comment from a Frogpool player and there was a few handbags but luckily both teams did well to defuse the situation before it got out of hand and both sides left the ground in fairly good spirits by the end of it.

Good luck to Frogpool for the season, looking forward to the return game in a couple of weeks!
