Shame for Ludgvan but I'm glad to see the teams reduced. I can't help but feel that they've missed a trick here though. Reducing the league by one team won't shorten the season, it just means there will be a team every week who doesn't have a game. Shame, but it is a start so congratulations to the league and member clubs on making a bold decision and the change. May be harder to take a decision like this in future though with the new Trelawney feeder league.

It's not down to the clubs to decide who is in or out but the Joint Liaison Committee made up of people from the Combo and feeder leagues.

Of course now that Falmouth Athletic are promoted what is to stop Falmouth Albion being promoted next season!

Agree, well done in reducing the number of teams. I'm OK with 19 this season assuming we get to 18 in a years time. If the fixturing can be done around the County Cups there will be some Saturday's when all 19 teams play. For example with 14 Cornish teams in SWP West, Perranwell will be the Combination team (along with Sticker from ECPL) invited to play the Charity Cup first round on 5 November. If they are given a bye on this date all Combo teams can play a league fixture. Likewise when the senior cup matches are played, the 6 'reserve' teams can play league fixtures against each other.

Like you say it won't shorten the season.

Does anyone know how many times last season when all 20 clubs were playing either combo league or cup matches on a particular day?

The answer is only 4 times.

There is falmouth ath, but goonhavern failed to finish in the top 3!

Falmouth albion are now in a position to get promoted although various items are "owned" by falmouth ath dc we are not going to be irrational and not help our neighbours if they wish to get promotion the two clubs would have to have a few meetings where joint facilities would be discussed. Melville Benney is avery nice bloke and I am sure amicable solutions would be found.

Any other news CTB? Are the league cup fixtures going to be decided via penalties on the day or are we stuck with replays? Was reducing the number of teams discussed?

New rule in this year.

All cup games to be decided on the day.

Rule 23. CUP COMPETITIONS

(D) The Cup Competitions shall be run on a knock-out principle. Each tie shall be played on the ground of the first-named Club. In the event of a draw at the end of 90 minutes, extra time of 15 minutes each way shall be played. If the scores are still level at the end of extra time, the tie shall be decided by the taking of penalty kicks in accordance with F.I.F.A Regulations.

New Rules for Promotion/Relegation

CRITERIA FOR DECIDING RELEGATION AND PROMOTION ISSUES WITH FEEDER LEAGUE

RELEGATION.

If, at the end of each season, the Cornwall Combination League has a full compliment of teams, the Clubs finishing in the bottom two league positions would be candidates for relegation.

If only one team is eligible for promotion from the feeder League, the team finishing bottom of the Cornwall Combination League would be relegated.

If two teams are eligible for promotion from the feeder League, both teams finishing in the bottom two places of the Cornwall Combination League would be relegated.

If a Club is promoted from the Cornwall Combination League and is not replaced by a relegated Club from the League above, this would have the effect of reducing by one the number of Clubs relegated from the Cornwall Combination League.

PROMOTION.

To be a candidate for promotion to the Cornwall Combination League, a Club must finish the season in one of the top three positions of the feeder League and a maximum of two of these Clubs can be promoted, with preference given to the highest finishing Clubs. The fourth placed Club can be considered for promotion if one (or more) Reserve Teams of a Club (or Clubs) in Membership of the Cornwall Combination League occupy a finishing position in the top three. No Reserve Team of an existing Cornwall Combination League Club will be eligible for promotion.

CONDITIONS.

1. Any Club seeking promotion must apply to THEIR OWN LEAGUE by January 7th of the current season.

2. Initial GROUND GRADING by Clubs OWN LEAGUE to be completed by February 7th.

3. Feeder League to recommend Clubs who they feel have met criteria by February 14th.

4. Clubs confirm application in writing to Cornwall Combination League, with £25 fee, by February 14th.

5. Ground inspection carried out by Cornwall Combination League by March 14th

6. Feeder League informed by Cornwall Combination League of Clubs which have met all the criteria.

7. All or any improvements/work required to be carried out to secure promotion must be completed by Clubs, inspected and passed by the Cornwall Combination League by May 31st.

JOINT LIAISON COMMITTEE.

1. A Joint Liaison Committee, consisting of three representatives of each League, will administer and make decisions regarding matters of relation and promotion. The Chairman and Secretary of each League, plus one other member of each League shall comprise the Joint Liaison Committee. The Chairman and Secretary of the Cornwall Combination League shall be the Chairman and Secretary of the Joint Liaison Committee.

With those criteria there are already member clubs who don't fill them,i.e.dug-outs,doe's a rocking horse and see-saw count as acceptable? As to owning the ground or lease, where do council pitches come into this?If somebody cuts themselves on some broken glass on a council owned pitch, does the player blame the home team or the council? :P

Ludgvan finally drop out of the League where they've been since 1980, feel sorry for the 'Hardcore' folks who have stuck with them through thick and thin (and thinner), as a Ludgvan person (although I've 'emigrated' to Penzance to Live), with their facilities, it's a shame, but being brutally honest it's been coming for a long time. There is a problem there with what is seen as 'outsiders' coming into the club, and they like for some reason to see them fail, which is ultimately poor all round. It's a shame but these things happen, and it's not as if it's been a 'one off' season is it?

Seems odd though the league couldn't put another team to keep it at 20 though??

why isn't there a promoted team!!!?

As someone has posted before.

Falmouth Athletic were promoted replacing Ludgvan who were relegated.

Helston being promoted to the SWPL has nothing to do with the bottom of the table.

Remember the SWPL Div 1 West is currently one team short so at the end of next season they may relegate one from that league into the ECPL, and then promote another club from both the ECPL and JCCL. This doesn't stop relegation or promotion at the bottom of the JCCL.

It is possible at the end of next season there may be only 18 clubs in the combo and there still is promotion and relegation at the bottom of the table.

CTB that last statement about it is possible that the league would be reduced to 18 teams, surely if it was not definately decided at the AGM then it's not going to happen.

A man with the amount of information you have saved over the seasons must be able to realize that there would be nowhere for the team relegated to go, you couldnt drop them to the trelawney league as they would have to drop a team not in the relegation zone down a league and so on right through all their leagues.

If the league is to be reduced I think you will need a team to withdraw!and even then you could have a problem as with the fal/hel AGM if a team does withdraw are they to be counted as one of your relegated teams or are you still going to relegate two? Is the team 2nd from bottom going to complain they should,nt still be relegated due to the withdrawal? Maybe your only hope is that a team with their reserves in the top trelawney league gets relegated pushing their reserves out????????

We can only hope. I notice the new Trelawny League has divisions of a maximum of 14 teams as per the Duchy set up, reduced from a maximum of 16 in the Fal/Hel and Mining. Trelawny Division 6 has only 11 sides so an extra side would not go astray their either.
