Massey's Mutterings - June 8th 2011

Recommended Posts

This week's page includes a mention about when Steve's brother led out the two teams for the Gary Neville testamonial match and what happened after the game in Fergie's office!

Talking about Fergie, Steve suggests who could be Fergie's equivalent in Cornish football and then there is his rant of the week - this time not surprisingly it features Fabio Cappello's excuse for England's disappointing performance and subsequent result last Saturday.

And there's more, why not take a look on this "Massey's Mutterings" link

Good Mutterings Steve ! Agree with most of your views on Capello but find it hard to be to critical of his performance as a manager at Wembley on Saturday as it was far superior to the performance of a manager who was managing a team at Wembley the previous Saturday ! Sir Alex and Capello both picked teams to win a match at Wembley but after both realising the formation and players they chose were not working Capello was the only manager to make big decisions to turn things around ! Bringing off Lampard and changing to a 4 4 2 turned out to be crucial in England getting a very important point ! Agreed Young should have started but atleast he did get him on at half time ! Sir Alex contributions to his Champions League Final were leaving his golden boot winner and top scorer out of the squad ! Left Valencia and Chito on the pitch when they were just passangers for 90 minutes ! Stuck to a 4 4 2 when after 15 minutes everybody in the world who was watching the game knew they were getting over run !Persisted with Giggs and I CAN ONLY PASS SIDEWAYS CARRICK in centre midfield for far to long ! Overloaded his bench with defenders and midfielders and had only 4 GAMES IN THE CARLING CUP Michael Owen to choose from as someone who could nick a goal ! Had training sessions leading up to the final where Nani was playing in the Messi role ??? Manchester United had someobody who can play similar to Messi and they did not start him ? Finally and worst of all when his players needed inspiration the most during the second half all Sir Alex did was chew gum ! ALL FACTS STEVE ! Rant over

p.s it is irrelevant how good Barcelona are as my point is about Sir Alex not having the know how to change things and not having the guts too ! Rant is over now, promise !

IF he did not know how to change things or the guts to do it he would never have won as MUCH silverwear has he had. NO matter what side he had put out against Barca, the result would have still been the same........ Everyone is allowed a bad day at the office every now and then. So I think its a bit of an unfair comment after all the success he has had.
