Mandy K Aggiemaid Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE LEGENDS IN ST AGNES St Agnes AFC Bolster Veterans face the game of their lives on Sunday 7th November when they play host to Plymouth Argyle Legends in a charity fixture at Enys Parc St Agnes. Kicking off at 2pm entry will be £2 with £1 for concessions. The Plymouth Argyle Legends are a team of former Plymouth Argyle players whilst the St Agnes Bolster Veterans are made up of former players from local Leagues such as the Jolly's Combination, Falmouth Helston and One and All Mining League - all aged 35 years and over! With players such as Chris Hargreaves (Plymouth Argyle 1998-2000) and Leigh Cooper (Plymouth Argyle 1979 - 1990) the fixture promises to provide fun and entertainment whilst on a serious side raising important funds to be divided equally between St Agnes AFC and the 'Jeans for Genes' Charity which works to change the world for children with genetic disorder. St Agnes AFC Chairman Mandy Kimmins said "We are all really looking forward to this fixture - I know our Bolster Veterans will do there best! Today we are raising funds to support a fantastic charity in Jeans for Genes. We have chosen this charity as a couple within our club have a beautiful son called Samson who has Costello's Syndrome which is a rare genetic disorder. Jeans for Genes have helped fund a conference about Costello's Syndrome and St Agnes AFC would like to help to put something back in support of Samson and his family!" There will be a raffle and auction on the day with the newly refurbished club bar open and refreshments available. Everyone is welcome - wearing jeans of course in support of 'Jeans for Genes'! For more details or to donate anything towards the raffle or auction please contact Mandy Kimmins on 07974 370666.

Mandy K Aggiemaid Posted November 17, 2010 Author Report Posted November 17, 2010 St Agnes Bolster Veterans host Plymouth Argyle Legends in Charity Fixture waved on by Samson! St Agnes AFC Bolster Veterans hosted Plymouth Argyle Legends in a charity fixture at Enys Parc. An eagerly contested affair saw the former Plymouth Argyle players come out the winners at 3-1 but the goal of the match had to be that scored by St Agnes Bolster Veteran Simon Firth when, to the delight of the onlooking supportive crowd, he capitalized on a well place ball from Dave Keverene to safely place the ball into the back of the net! Brave performances from the Aggie Bolster Vets saw the light feet of Plymouth Argyle Legends Chris Harrison who made 381appearances in his career for Plymouth Argyle, John Uzzell ( 302), Leigh Cooper (323) and Martin Barlow (361) frustrate their efforts and ensure Argyle the victory! The charity of the day was chosen by Ladies team player Charlie Ward who asked for funds to be raised for 'Jeans for Genes' who had recently funded a conference in London around the rare genetic disorder Costello's Syndrome. Charlie with her husband Drustyn (also a member of St Agnes AFC) have two beautiful children Tassy and Samson who has Costello Syndrome. Drustyn was invited to 'guest' appear for the Plymouth Argyle Legends and was well supported and waved on throughout by Samson! Following the match a raffle and mini-auction took place raising funds of over £800 which will be split equally between Jeans for Genes and St Agnes AFC. Exhausted from his guest appearance Drustyn said,"Thank you so much to everyone for their efforts today, everyone's support has been fantastic!" Ruth Rivett-Carnac from Jeans for Genes commented‘’We are very grateful to St Agnes AFC for raising funds for Jeans for Genes. Each year Jeans for Genes supports a number of charities and this year one of the projects we are funding is for the International Costello Syndrome Support Group. Fewer than 10 babies a year are born with Costello Syndrome. It causes learning disabilities, heart and skeletal problems. We are proud to be helping families with Costello Syndrome to be able to come together at their very first UK conference this year. The conference enables parents to meet, share experiences and gain valuable insight from medical professionals specializing in Costello Syndrome.’’ St Agnes AFC Chairman Mandy Kimmins summed the event up by saying,"What a wonderful afternoon and what an amazing amount to raise! I am very proud of our own St Agnes Legends for their great efforts today! It was brilliant to welcome the Plymouth Argyle Legends to Enys Parc and I want to thank everyone for their support in every way! It was great to see Samson here waving his dad on so enthusiastically and I hope the money raised will help Jeans for Genes support other families like Charlie and Drustyn's"
