The Villains Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 If the player was not ACTIVE in this goal what was he doing there........... Not only was he standing infront of the keeper, he tries to play the ball as well! The ref has made a massive error in NOT going with this assistant refs flag in the first place. By all means communicate with him, BUT, dont let the opposing players get involved with the decision. :SM_carton:
spurfect Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 I come on this forum, and get slagged off for spouting a load of sh--. Then on comes you. Two things to say. 1,Check the rule book.If a player is standing in a offside position, and does'nt touch or play the ball, the goal should stand. 2,Huddlestone's strike clearly takes a deflection off Fulham defender,Chris Baird. Result ,GOAL COUNTS. FULHAM 1 SPURS 2. :SM_carton:
Anita Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 I come on this forum, and get slagged off for spouting a load of sh--. 1,Check the rule book.If a player is standing in a offside position, and does'nt touch or play the ball, the goal should stand. where in the law book does it say that????
spurfect Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Well I do apologise for not putting the rule down word perfect. So,seeing you are the expert, tell me why that goal should be disallowed. Almost every T.V . expert says, according to the law,the referee got the decision RIGHT. William Gallas, did not touch the ball and was not in line of sight of the goalkeeper,so he will only come into play if he becomes involved in the 2nd phase.
St Darren Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 according to the laws, then yeah, the ref was right I suppose but you would be agreived if it was against your team, to me, he's standing in an offside position in front of goal and therefore should have been offside!
spurfect Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Why all the fuss about Huddlestone's goal. Check Arteta's goal against Liverpool, isnt Yakubu standing in a so-called offside position.? By the letter of the law both goals are correctly given. Check the record books.FULHAM 1 TOTTENHAM 2. EVERTON 2 LIVERPOOL 0. FACT.
St Darren Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 no one debated that did they??? christ, I'm still debating the goal that was given in 1989 when an indirect free kick was given for Arsenal and went straight in, even though Alan Smith reckons he got a nose on it, did he jack as like!!! Laws are the laws, and as I said, the ref got them right according to the rules, but in my eyes he was offside, standing where he was and sticking a leg out to try and deflect the ball makes him active to me!!
Anita Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Well I do apologise for not putting the rule down word perfect. Law, not rule. Its always good if your going to quote the law to get it word perfect I never saw the game (don't really want to see it) i don't care who won or who lost, wouldn't even care if Mickey Mouse was playing. Just pointing out its laws of the game not rules Have a nice evening Mr Spud :smiley20:
halwill-lfc Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 the offside rule is all to easy to get wrong. he tryed to play the ball..offside end off..
Lee_ Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 If it deflected off a Fulham player would that not make it ok? I havent seen the goal and Im not 100% sure of how these laws work nowadays but I would have interpreted it thus: In front of goalie = active, ie offside. Came off a Fulham player makes it legal and trumps the above. As I say I dont know how the bleeding laws are applied these days and havent seen the goal.
The Villains Posted October 21, 2010 Author Report Posted October 21, 2010 I come on this forum, and get slagged off for spouting a load of sh--. Then on comes you. Result ,GOAL COUNTS. FULHAM 1 SPURS 2. The player does not have to touch the ball to be offside, he MADE an attempt to play the ball by trying to flick the ball with his foot or are you that blind you missed it! Standing offside away from play is one thing BUT being in front of the keeper is another thing. :SM_carton:
spurfect Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Read Lee's post,T.V.replays clearly show the ball deflecting off Fulham defender,Chris Baird. T.V.replays clearly show that William Gallas was not in the sight of vision of the Fulham goalkeeper. So as T.V. pundit Alan Shearer said, the goal was CORRECTLY given. Villians, what the F--- are you going on about.
